Do you get Botox?

Lindor2828 · 08/11/2021 11:34

If so, how much do you pay? How often? How many areas do you get? Would you recommend jt?

I'm 33, not a fan of the forehead lines I can see appearing...

Yes I pay £300 for 3 areas and 1ml in my lips
Have it done 3 times a year

userxx · 08/11/2021 22:28

£240 for 2 arras, must make an appointment.

HairyButtMonkey · 08/11/2021 22:49

I pay £160 for one area and it very subtly lifts my forehead (I have droopy eyelids). Lasts about 4 months and looks v natural and nobody ever notices. I'm 45, still have forehead wrinkles and can make normal faces Smile You need to find someone good who will do the minimum only - word of mouth. I've had Botox from a fancy place previously which gave me arched brows and I hated it - had to get a fecking fringe!

RampantIvy · 08/11/2021 23:01

@RainbowCrayons

I get forehead and 11s about every 6 months. I've found not only do I look better but I get far fewer migraines too. I'm 30s so only go for a very light touch but it just changes my whole face in a subtle way.
I believe that some people who suffer from migraines can get botox to treat them. I will accept my wrinkly face, but if I suffered from migraines I would definitely consider it.
userxx · 09/11/2021 08:24

@RampantIvy It's brilliant for migraines, it's a very positive side effect!

ArabeI · 09/11/2021 11:12

It hasn't prevented my migraines, I'm afraid. Though I don't think they just inject the forehead when using botox for that purpose.

stealingbeauty · 09/11/2021 14:03

I’ve never had it, but I’m probably “ready” for it now, on the forehead and around the eyes. I just don’t have that much spare cash at the moment, so it’s lower down my list of priorities. (If I had more money I’d get it done tomorrow!)
However, I’m starting to feel like I might bypass the Botox and get an early facelift instead. I like the idea of getting the pain, hassle, cost etc out the way earlier on, and not needing so much maintenance later on. But that’s a whole other thread I suppose! I’ve had a lot of loss, grief and heartache over the last couple of years and it’s definitely showing on my face.

bluetongue · 11/11/2021 12:05

I’m 45 (gulp) and really just starting to consider it for my 11s. I’ve had then for years even though the rest of my face is pretty good as far as lines go.

I did ask my dermatologist about it and she didn’t seem to think would be a problem for me to get it. Just worried I’m starting too old.

It’s not usually my thing but the lines make me look tired and I want to do something about them but do The whole ‘frozen face’ thing.

WouldBeGood · 11/11/2021 12:41

I’m even older @blueykngue and I’d say definitely worth it. I’m not really worried about looking older, but the frown line was making me look stressed and anxious. I am so happy with it now and no one has noticed. I just look fresher, and am happy to have my hair off my forehead - handy at the gym!

hairypaws · 14/11/2021 18:03

@Nanny67

Hairypaws where do you go?
I'm near Glasgow and go to a dentist.
TheCategoryIs · 14/11/2021 20:47

I hate my 11s, not just for the more haggard, old look they give me but also for the way it looks like I am frowning at everyone which is no good for building good relationships. So have tried Botox in just that area, paying £250 at a cosmetic clinic. I don't go regularly, just when I can't stand the haggardness anymore. I don't like the idea of it at all (both the idea I can't deal with ageing and injecting yourself) but there's no denying it's very effective and also very subtle when done right.

cjpark · 14/11/2021 20:54

I'm 44 and I've had it 2-3 times a year since I turned 30. I only have 1 area done, number 11 and a slight brow lift for £150. I think it makes me look fresher and prevents lines as I started before lines formed.

Franticbutterfly · 14/11/2021 20:57

I get it in my crows feet but recently it's stopped working. Apparently it is possible to build a resistance. It really does stop the wrinkles around my eyes becoming too prominent when I do have it. I pay about £120.

Imkindreally · 15/11/2021 13:33

Had my first Botox today Grin went for 2 areas however when assessed again they suggested just one area for now as didn’t think my 11 lines needed doing - they’ve said they’ll do them at my 2 week check if I decide I’d like to get it done anyway.

So today just had top of forehead done …and got a leaflet for other bits I’m considering

VillKrill · 15/11/2021 21:04

I don’t, though I can understand why it appeals to some. IMO it’s not worth the risk; adverse effects are massively underreported:

WouldBeGood · 16/11/2021 09:59

The guardian is always full on doom and houmus though

TulipVictory · 16/11/2021 10:25

Does it work on laughter lines under the eyes. Mine are starting to become more prominent. I think I'm following in my mother's footsteps. I remember her having a lot of wrinkles under her eyes even in her mid-late 30s.

RacheyCat · 16/11/2021 11:59

I got it done in 11's, forehead and laughter lines at the start of summer. I'll get more in a few weeks, but only between my eyes. Maybe a teeny tiny bit in my forehead. Certainly not in my laughter lines - it just made me wrinkle under my eyes instead and I don't have severe wrinkles at the edges of my eyes anyway. I reckon that can be taken care of with Tret for now. Looking too smiley is vastly better than looking too frowny.

VillKrill · 16/11/2021 20:43

The guardian is always full on doom and houmus though

It’s simply reporting a recent peer-reviewed research study:

Not sure what a middle-eastern snack has to do with it!

StampOnIt · 16/11/2021 21:03

I had it for the first time about 6 months ago, I'm 46. I was recommended someone by a friend who always looks amazing and very natural.

Initially I had it to get rid of my 11s (although I actually just have a very deep 1) because I was fed up of looking like I was frowning all the time. But as a side effect I then developed extra lines going down the side of my forehead and around my eyes, whichlooked odd when the middle part was smooth, so when I went back for my check I had a bit more to try and sort that.

My frown lines definitely looked better, but I felt a bit odd and don't think I'll bother again. Nobody noticed I'd had it done, I did look fresher but it all felt like too much effort.

Delatron · 16/11/2021 22:48

It wears off so quickly, that’s the problem/

The Guardian article is interesting. The lady at the end seems a bit confused. I think she means her muscles have atrophied over the years rather than remained frozen. Which is my worry with long term

use.

I also don’t think I’ve found the right doctor yet. I think it’s very hard to get right as there are so many opposing muscles in the forehead.

easterdaffsx · 16/11/2021 22:51

I've been having for about 2-3 years now.
Am 51 and so many people at work comment on my skin so hopefully they aren't telling porkies !
I work stupid hours in a v stressful job and it started to take its toll ....Botox means I still look like I've had 8 hours sleep even when I'm running on empty and only had 3 .
Costs me £295 for 2 areas but he gives me 50 which is apparently the full amount.
Also the effect lasts longer the more you have .
I also go to a doctor for my treatment amd although it costs a bit more was worth it for reassurance for me that he is accountable through the GMC and national health CQC inspection for his practice and his performance is reviewed .

MabelMoo23 · 17/11/2021 17:07

Yes, I paid £225 for 2 areas, my crows feet and to lift my eyes as really hooded and I was really happy. I go a clinic in Worcestershire who are ex dentists and they are fab.

I was due to have an appointment a couple of weeks ago, but Covid scuppered that, I can definitely notice it’s started to wear off so it’s lasted about 4 months
