Best 'bang for your buck' facial treatment?

Excluding botox and fillers, what can you recommend as the most effective anti-ageing facial treatment? I'm very overwhelmed with the different options (lasers/profhilo/PRP facials etc).

I'm willing to pay decent money from a reputable clinic/dermatologist. I'm early 50's and in London.

Thanks!

Fillers, placed correctly they can lift your whole face.

Fraxel

Under eye fillers were incredibly subtle and did make a difference I have them done by dr sabrina in harley street. she is incredible but it is well over 1k for 3ml filler.

I think improving skin texture makes a huge difference.
Rentinol and sunscreen has been the most cost effective thing i have used tbh

Sorry what i was getting at is while i like the fillers but i could imagine a lot of people thinking "what? It that it???" And thinking it was a waste of time

It is expensive and is for home use but I use this everyday and wouldn't be without it. Simply put, it makes my skin look brighter and younger. It gets rave reviews for those who suffer from acne but for anyone who is menopausal, I recommend it.

As you’re in London, I would just book a consultation with a fancy facialist like Teresa Tarmey and call beforehand to ask for their recommendations.

If you live in NYC you can ritzlaser.com visit here. They do the best facial treatments in NYC

In my opinion, Botox.

In order: no smoking, no alcohol, sufficient sleep, avoiding the sun (wear a hat), good diet, exercise, good haircut.

This looks very interesting! Can you use it somehow to include the neck and decollatage?
Taoneusa · 08/11/2021 15:10

Op, I really recommend Dennis gross retinol and ferulic skincare line. Honestly, you could buy a LOT of this to last you years, rather than go to a derm/ aesthetician and pay a lot for not very much.

MoltonSilver · 08/11/2021 15:20

A prescription strength retinoid.

Greenplums · 08/11/2021 15:25

Thanks for all the suggestions! I am going to look into them in more detail. Keep them coming!

@Greenplums between the options you mentioned (lasers, profhilo, PRP) I think lasers are likely to be the most effective in terms of antiageing, but it may depend on your skin concerns. Most doctors who do offer of these treatments also offer the others, so your best bet may be a consultation with an aesthetic doctor to get advice on what’s the most appropriate treatment for you.

I honestly don’t think facials are the best treatment for ageing concerns. They are good for acne (if extractions are needed) and for relaxation/massage that improve the look of skin in the short term, but the techniques they use are not as effective as medical-grade lasers.

Eaumyword · 08/11/2021 19:35

I rate microdermabrasion for a low cost, not invasive freshen up. I get a great deal and just pay £30/hr.

misscockerspaniel · 08/11/2021 21:49

@Taoneusa

Have a look at this - it has only recently launched. What I like about the facemask (and this product) is that they are FDA approved.

The laser treatments from Debbie Thomas - not cheap but amazing. Tailored for your skin taking into account age, condition etc.

UsedUpUsername · 09/11/2021 05:54

I honestly don’t think PRP works though.

Where do you buy prescription strength retinoids?!

Girlintheframe · 09/11/2021 07:43

I haven't had profhilo but have been thinking about it. Friend had it and she looks incredible.
Skin looks hydrated and like it has volume again. She did already have pretty good skin but honestly looks amazing since having it done.

Greenplums · 09/11/2021 14:30

Thanks again for all these fab suggestions. I also know someone who has had profhilo and her skin does look very good.
