Best 'bang for your buck' facial treatment?

Excluding botox and fillers, what can you recommend as the most effective anti-ageing facial treatment? I'm very overwhelmed with the different options (lasers/profhilo/PRP facials etc).

I'm willing to pay decent money from a reputable clinic/dermatologist. I'm early 50's and in London.

Thanks!

I haven’t strayed into the world of treatments (but should), but I find cetaphil keeps my skin clear and heliocare everyday makes the world of difference too

I would never consider having any facial treatment, as in fillers or botox, and all the other stuff in clinics.. I have seen a few older women who have had the works on their faces, and they didn't look good at all. I think the worst cases of work done, are those pumped up lips jobs, that young women have now, they ruin the look,of what could be a pretty face,in fact some of them look quite scary, after a big pump up of lips.

I'm going to Spain next month, what brand/strength should I ask for?

Can’t advise on brand as you don’t always get that choice depending on the pharmacy you visit but for anti-ageing a creme is better than gel. And start slowly, get .03% first and see how you go with twice weekly applications. It takes time for results but results are amazing over the long term

@UsedUpUsername hope I'm not too late as you said you were going to Spain this month. The brand is Retirides.

Hi all. I have the Lyma Laser and I have to say it’s fantastic. I do drink plenty of water too.
I used the laser mainly on my stomach where I have a number of scars and it’s dramatically reduced the appearance of them.
Sadly, due to my marital split, I am sadly selling my Lyma. Still have the box and charger with it too. Please let me know if you’d be interested before I list it online.

What are your concerns as different things are best for different issues?
Overall skin texture: retinol, face oil (I use olive oil!) and night cream every night; vit c, hyaluronic acid serum and day cream every morning. Plant based diet high in olive oil, collagen supplements, fish oil supplements.
Wrinkes: botox for 11s, home LED machine for around eyes. Skin care as above helps too.
Sagging: Home LED for jowls, cheek filler for lift of lower face, thread lift on mid and lower face every couple of years.
(Thread lift is the quick win game changer)

@Spiceup

I know no one wants to hear it but genuinely the most cost effective thing you can do for your skin is drink plenty of water. It really plumps up when you're well hydrated and you look less tired too.
Water does nothing to stop the effects of collagen breakdown though.

On light mask therapy, I had amazing results a few years back with the cheap as chips Boots supplied Neutrogena mask - but that was withdrawn due to concerns about its effect on the eyes. This made me very cautious- I'd rather be wrinkly than blind and had noticed a decline in my eyesight, though that was probably age! I bought the handheld Light Stim a year or so ago and use it. I think it is helping with wrinkles but it doesn't have the immediate effect I had with Neutrogena. Those who have the FDA approved Dennis Gross mask - are there eye protection goggles and do you worry? I'm hoping the answers are yes and no!!
I tried a course of Caci a few years back - I stopped halfway through as thought it made me look worse!

Liz Fraser’s facial exercises help a few of us.

Hi Mummybear 1993
Is the Lyma still for sale please?

MarineBlue33 · 06/01/2022 21:41

Do those face rollers work at all?

Mummybear1993 · 29/01/2022 17:07

The Lyma laser is still for sale not got round to listing it. Still have original box too. I have used the mist and the gel though as I did use it everyday. You really need to invest with it to get results but it definitely helped me and my stomach scar is so much more pale now rather than red. I was amazed. Fella wants me to sell it though as he wasn’t happy with my purchase… he did buy the latest Xbox as his treat lol. If interested happy to send pics next week xx

Many thanks, Janice
