Tragus piercing

Hi all,
I'm
Thinking of getting my tragus pierced. I don't know if I'm too old for it I'm 35. Also I'm not sure if it will suit me. But my question was the healing process and pain? How painful is it to get done? I've had my helix and that didn't hurt much at all but it took ages to heal 100%. How long is the healing process? How long can you not sleep on it?
Also if I decide to take it out day 10-15 years down the line, will the hole be visible ? Any one has any experience with this? Or will it close over properly? I know there will be a slight mark even in the best scenario, ( closed my nose hole and you can only see if close up) but I'm happy with the small mark opposed to a clear hole.
Sorry I know they are random questions but they are actually in my mind.
Would love to see your tragus piercings.

Thanks

@Isabelle70 oh that's good to hear, I'm glad it's healing well and not painful. I bet the Maria tash stud is gorgeous I do love their stuff. The tiny studs look lovely in the tragus imho.

I say do it! Had my tragus and helix done post 40, since then I've had a daith, outer conch and snug done. Plus a couple of upper lobes! The worst was the snug and it never really healed after two years so I had to take it out Sad. Tragus did hurt but healed OK and now I have something much smaller.

I had mine done in November and it’s still being a bit pissy with me now. Possibly not helped by me having a conch and high lobe added just before Christmas so I’m healing a lot at the moment. It didn’t hurt too much to have it done, just sounded crunchy, and was definitely nothing compared to the conch which stung like a bastard.

I went straight for something sparkly and delicate - no need for chunky studs. They downsize the post on them as they heal so they fit snugly. I have a marquise aquamarine and I love it! Attached photo is from just after the conch and high lobe were added hence the redness!

Never heard of a tragus or a helix, until now... And I have a good vocabulary, as I write for a living. Thanks for the new words!

@lulalalala I'm definitely going to go for it I love the way they look. 👍🏻thanks

@broccolibush wow your piercings look amazing, you're so brave to get them so close together. But the jewellery is so gorgeous and dainty. The piercing shop where I had my helix and second lobes didn't have much choice of jewellery, just big chunky studs. Yours look amazing. X

I have had almost everything you could imagine pierced and found the tragus the most painful and difficult to manage. It never healed properly so I took it out. That said, I know a lot of people who said they didn’t find it painful at all.

I got mine 5 years ago at 35. Got a double because I had room to fit it. Healing was just like a normal earlobe for me as it’s just as chubby! Do it!

Anyone had a Rook piecing while we're here! 😄

I had a 3rd lobe piercing just before Christmas & now thinking a rook would finish off that ear perfectly!

leotardrock · 11/01/2022 13:07

A 3rd lobe piercing and a conch!

broccolibush · 12/01/2022 18:27

@leotardrock I have a rook too - you can see it in the picture I linked above. I have a tiny ring with a diamond on it in it. That was my first non-lobe piercing and took forever to heal, probably because the piercer downsized it too much so I had far too small a bar on it for a while. I had it done maybe 8 years ago but had the ring put in in late 2019, which resulted in getting all the others too (I have a triple helix/flat and daith on my other ear).

DrWankincense · 12/01/2022 18:37

I had mine done in June and daith on the other side in July.
The daith is almost healed but the tragus is still troublesome. It is fine for a bit then it either gets knocked or I sleep funny on it. I changed the stud a few days for a hoop to see if that helps it to settle better.
I'm 44. Once the tragus settles I'll definitely add to my collection Grin.

Isabelle70 · 12/01/2022 21:52

I went to have my Tragus bar changed today after 5 weeks but it's still got a bit of swelling so the Maria Tash stud has to stay in its box for now. However my pierced did swap the titanium front ball for a pink crystal 😀

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/01/2022 01:37

I got my daith done , I was debating daith/tragus/daith/tragus

Daith was done with a hoop which is tucked away into my ear so doesn't catch .
Only disadvantage is I cannot see it unless I look side on.
Everyone else gets to see my beautiful piercing !

I do want another now reading all these

Bbub · 17/01/2022 21:54

Love the double tragus! I'm so grateful for this thread it has reinvigorated my interest in getting more piercings!

Aderyn21 · 18/01/2022 08:03

Had mine done last year. It did take a few months to settle down. Piercer said to not use salt water to clean as the salt can crystallise in the piercing and also not to turn, just rinse with cooled boiled water and leave it alone. She said to use titanium studs until properly healed, not surgical steel.
Etsy have some lovely studs - I have a rose gold plated titanium diamanté which is nice and sparkly
