Hi,
Everything I wear in the winter on my skin makes me look tired and pale. I have dark rings under my eyes too!

Similar pale exhausted skin here.

Facial tanning oil mixed with moisturiser helps.

Then after trying every foundation stick and liquid going, I discovered that Rimmel Lasting Finish works best. I go for one tone darker than my skin at its palest as the matching colour makes me look like a ghost!

And I always use a blusher too. Or matt bronzing powder.

MintyGreenDream · 01/11/2021 14:10

Armani luminous touch foundation is really good

Yoyoyo1 · 01/11/2021 14:15

Thank you - forgot to say I have combination skin, prone to spots on chin too!

The Chanel rose under eye concealer is magic, I really rate Trinny BFF too.

Annonnimoouse42 · 01/11/2021 15:52

I'm older, pale with freckles. I got some of this Catkin BB cream from Amazon. I love it - covers everything lightly and makes my skin look luminous., I get comments on how well I'm looking every time I wear it

Facial tanning oil mixed with moisturiser helps.

This has been a game changer for me. I use the Clarins face drop one, it makes your skin look sun kissed and so healthy. I started using it about a month ago and have had so many compliments. It’s also very easy to use.

Chocolatecoatedkettlebell · 01/11/2021 16:26

Agree with tanning oil, I use 4 tan lux drops to my moisturiser every two to three days, I was terrified of adding fake tan to my face prior to finding this.
Have also switched to a lighter coverage foundation, having tried a few and had issues with transfer I have settled on hourglass (in a stick) and the concealer which has amazing coverage.

But my absolute must have product is hourglass dim light powder it just adds a glow

lindyloo57 · 01/11/2021 16:32

I have tried the clarins drops, but after only putting two drops mixed with my moisturiser it makes me a werd orange/ rusty colour

SwayingInTime · 01/11/2021 17:21

This is brilliant and glowy for me but seems to not cause breakouts either:

m.esteelauder.co.uk/product/681/13160/product-catalog/skincare/daywear/multi-protection-anti-oxidant-sheer-tint-release-moisturiser-spf-15

Origins do a similar product (grey then changes colour to suit you) but it’s orange on me.

BusterGonad · 01/11/2021 17:39

I tend to find a good cream with SPF (gives skin a nice sheen) followed by a glowy foundation such as Lancome teint miracle or Clinique even better glow.

Beachlovingirl · 01/11/2021 17:46

I like trinny BFF followed by trinny anti-stress tinted serum, combined with trinny just a touch concealer.

Blusher also is compulsory for my skin to look less tired. I use a shiseido mouse blusher that gives a blush-from-within rather than a blush on top of the skin look.

I’ve heard good things about the hourglass dim light powder and I’m thinking this may be next buy.

Yoyoyo1 · 01/11/2021 19:38

Thank you - does anyone know if you get samples of any of these?

Is hourglass dim light or figured light best?

Ive got bad skin due to an autoimmune disease and was using the mistake of wearing a heavy, panstick foundation to cover it. Watched a couple of make up vids and now-
1-ALWAYS prime with a good mousturiser and/or serum. I just use Aveeno, nothing fancy.
2-Green cover cream blended into red, problem areas before foundation
3-Tarte foundation is light and glowy and you can build in areas where you need more cover without it looking caked.
4-Go easy on the concealer!!! I find as i have problem skin its better to apply after foundation, but just a tiny dot in the corner of your eye,a tiny swoop to the side corner. The more concealer you put on, the more pale and tired you look( i use Tarte shape tape)
4- a stipe of cream, rosy blusher with a stripe of cream highlighter above and blend upwards. Lifts cheeks and gives you good cover without looking sparkly.
Im very very pale, red hair and blue eyes and cannot get away with any false tan stuff. It does make it hard to look healthy as you get older :(

BusterGonad · 01/11/2021 20:29

I agree, if you are pale you need to skip bronze and add colour with a blush.
It's always a terrible idea to cake on any base, apply it in thin layers where you need it and build it up if needs be. I pump some on the back of my hand to warm it up then apply it with my fingers.

Darklane · 01/11/2021 20:39

I’m pale enough to make a corpse look tangoed. I find the best thing is to match your foundation to your skin, no matter how deathly, bronzing/ tanning just doesn’t work. For dark circles use a concealer.
Then add colour with a blusher. A pale pink works best, no danger of looking Aunt Sally like. You can’t overdo pale pink, better still with a bit of shimmer ( I like Laura Geller). Dust it across your forehead & a little on the chin as well as on cheeks.

LazyDoll · 01/11/2021 20:51

Non make up solution that I found really works…drinking as much water as you possibly can - game changer for me skin wise recently.

Lookingoutside · 01/11/2021 23:11

Eborian CC water Is really good.

Google Feelunique and click on samples. You can choose a box of 5 different items including that for about £12.

SlB09 · 01/11/2021 23:19

Clinique City block is really good, mines pale and dull and this gives it a dewy look with slight coverage/prime that's perfect for day wear with added spf. I have combination skin and it's the first spf/cover that hasn't clogged up my pores and given me spots.

I also use the ordinary facial acid exfoliator twice a week (it's cheap, red liquid from boots) and literally it's one of the best products I've ever used for complexion - highly highly recommend

Hakunapotato · 02/11/2021 01:19

Don’t use bronzer if you’re pale. Or use a light one sparingly. I like Fenty bronzer. The palest shade. A tiny bit and some pink blush and highlighter.

Chocolatecoatedkettlebell · 02/11/2021 10:52

@Yoyoyo1

Is hourglass dim light or figured light best?
I’m very pale and went to Hourglass expecting to buy a different cooler toned shade but the lady serving me correctly pointed out that I needed the dim light for warmth. It’s very subtle in terms of actual colour and I use one of their bronzers when I want more.
Viviennemary · 02/11/2021 10:59

The liz earle cleanser and cloth definitely perked up my skin.

Beebumble2 · 02/11/2021 11:05

I’d go with the Rimmel Lasting Finish. It’s got minute reflective bits. I’ve also got the Clarins booster oil to use with their foundation It’s ok, but I keep going back to the cheaper Rimmel, for every day.

Yoyoyo1 · 02/11/2021 11:08

Hi - which ordinary facial acid exfoliator would you recommend?

Me too. i spent a fortune on lots of higher end products but the Rimmel Lasting finish Foundation applies better. It's even and natural and stays all day.
