Shampoo and conditioner for old lady hair

Any suggestions? My hair is thin, fine and very fatty these days.

I’ve tried the caffeine one for women (not good and it manages to see it to women over 40 and not use the word women - but says menopause, so that’s jacked me off...) anyway...

Any suggestions? My hair just looks like candy floss.

L'Oréal Professionals repair shampoo and conditioner is expensive but good.

KittenKong · 23/10/2021 11:13

Nope - they are on my Nono list!

Oh I was going to say L'Oréal too...

The aussie ones are a close second though!

KittenKong · 23/10/2021 11:20

Sadly also on my 💩 list...

That link takes you to a refreshingly woman centred page. I’ve been using the brown one for 2 months, used half of it with daily washing, so cheap and for the first time in my life I have good hair. Pics taken 6 weeks apart.

Might be worth posting your no-no list.

I’m also interested, although my hair has always been fine and pathetic, now worse by peri! I always intend to look at Philip Kingsley but be er get round to it!

I like the new Pantene Hair Biology one (aimed at menopausal hair). Has made a difference, hair seems to stay cleaner for longer and noticeably thicker

KittenKong · 23/10/2021 12:23

Pantone’s on my list too... my god I am turning into my mother...

The Ethique Purple Shampoo is very good for greying hair, it makes it shinier and less yellow

crimsonlake · 23/10/2021 13:23

I have a problem with fine, greasy hair which now turns 'fluffy' after I have washed it. I have used copious amounts of frizz type products to some avail. Recently I decided to bite the bullet and try hair straighteners which did little to improve things.
A week ago following washing hair I applied the frizz stuff to damp hair and let it amost air dry. I then used my babyliss big hair roller drier to turn under my fringe and then ran it through my hair.
I am pleased to report this seems to have tamed the fluffiness right down. Tbh I never spent long drying my hair with the hair drier anyway, more of a quick blast. Staying away from it completely seems to have helped however.

I like the Plantur39 too but I think this may be the one you are alluring too in your op, I use the one for fine hair and find it gentle enough and the conditioner is great as it doesn't weigh my hair down or make it greasy, I swap between this and Aveeno.

KittenKong · 23/10/2021 13:30

My hair isn’t going grey/white - it’s red and if my older siblings are anything to go by, will still be red in 14 years time...it just looks like it’s been back combed badly.

When we went to USA a few years back I decided to buy shampoo there. I have grey fine hair and with the heat it was a right mess. I took a chance on Aveeno rose and chamomile. It was bloody brilliant I bought 3 bottles back and ordered from Amazon USA site. They now sell it in boots, the cider vinegar is good too.

Blush my bad!! It looked grey in the second picture

Maybe you need to apply more conditioner after the shower? DH loves applying hair oil! (He takes better care of his hair than I do mine....) makes the hair more hydrated

KittenKong · 23/10/2021 14:55

That wasn’t me!

Faith in Nature shampoo and conditioner Aloe Vera or Coconut, then rum a little Argan oil through before drying.

KittenKong · 23/10/2021 16:39

I tried the Aragon oil but even a tiny amount makes my hair look greasy.

A lot do shampoos formulated for coloured hair are formulated for this type of hair (because lots of people with coloured hair colour it due to greys/age reasons). So even if you don’t colour your hair or need to colour your hair, it can be worth trying the “for coloured hair” formulation of a brand you like.

KittenKong · 23/10/2021 21:12

I misread that as ‘dog shampoo’ . Oh no... I am NOT using ‘Fido ‘poo for pooches’ no way! 🤣

(I’m on the wine...)

I had a similar problem with my hair going wild and any oils added making it greasy. A friend bought me a shampoo bar for Christmas and I used it - my hair has been gorgeous since (I know it's MLM but she is a tropic bod and it was a tropic bar. I have not used anything else since ... I am not selling and not a tropic person by the way, it just worked for me)

Etinoxaurus · 24/10/2021 00:55

@Greyhare
The pics were me- posted in wrong order. The first is 6 weeks after the second🤯😳🤦🏻‍♀️

RockinHorseShit · 24/10/2021 01:12

Nioxin, it's not cheap, but worth it. Friends hair went from wispy, brittle & growing badly to beautiful thick long locks, so she recommended it to a few of her friends me included & it's great stuff
