Shampoo and conditioner for old lady hair

Any suggestions? My hair is thin, fine and very fatty these days.

I’ve tried the caffeine one for women (not good and it manages to see it to women over 40 and not use the word women - but says menopause, so that’s jacked me off...) anyway...

Any suggestions? My hair just looks like candy floss.

I meant to add, it lasts for ages, so doesn't actually work out much more expensive in the long run

My hair was massively improved by ditching silicone containing products and SLS shampoo. Using a microfibre hair towel and a silk pillow case helps loads too.

I don't do curly girls method but use curly girl "safe" products. My favourite shampoo and conditioner is XHC banana from B&M or Savers. Bargain price and great results.

I'm using loreal wonder water between my shampoo and conditioner and seeing good results. My hair is more swishey with it.

If you're living in a hard water area I'd suggested periodically using a shampoo designed to remove build up. Joico k-Pak claryfing shampoo has been a game changer for my hair.

I used a tonne of coconut oil yesterday and left it on for an hour before washing my hair and leaving it to dry. It did actually help a little. Messy though!

I'd suggest trying one with protein- Silk protein seems best for my hair or keratin.

I use Phyto densifying shampoo, Vichy Dercos treatment conditioner and hair mask, and Klorane quinine fortifying serum. The latter was a freebie but I’ll repurchase, it’s good. I don’t think any of them actually promote growth but my ageing hair is in good condition now.

AwkwardSquad · 24/10/2021 11:02

Sadly, Vichy is owned by L’Oreal. Phyto is owned by Impala (?) and Klorane by Pierre Fabre Laboratories (which is mostly owned by a public interest company). Interesting when you start looking behind the brand name.

Loreal and all high street brands are on my no no list too - so damaging!

I use coconut oil on my hair every week. I have also taken to co-washing rather than shampoo thanks to MN advice. My hair is looking the best it has in years!

Try MHD products, organic with essential oils. You can usually get them discounted in TKMaxx or via QVC. I'm a hairdresser and they are one of the best I've used.

What’s ‘co-washing’?

@crimsonlake

I have a problem with fine, greasy hair which now turns 'fluffy' after I have washed it. I have used copious amounts of frizz type products to some avail. Recently I decided to bite the bullet and try hair straighteners which did little to improve things. A week ago following washing hair I applied the frizz stuff to damp hair and let it amost air dry. I then used my babyliss big hair roller drier to turn under my fringe and then ran it through my hair. I am pleased to report this seems to have tamed the fluffiness right down. Tbh I never spent long drying my hair with the hair drier anyway, more of a quick blast. Staying away from it completely seems to have helped however.
Thank you! My hair is like this, always long and generally straight, now it resembles sideshow Bob hair ... I'll give this a try 😉😁

What’s ‘co-washing’?
It’s conditioner washing (no sulfates basically)
