WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, Dec 07

WideWebWitch · 09/12/2007 21:34

This is week 1 again of the tenth WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007 (clearly we haven't been keeping terribly good track etc but never mind!)

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Not a great day

toast x 2 with butter and Marmite
a croissant with butter and jam
4 fishfingers
a slice of dh's homemade chocolate cake
a salmon fillet and some chargrilled veg
not enoguh water
but am going to bed shortly

I have a day off this week to go to ds's school play so only 9 days to go until my xmas break

and I have decided I need to carefully plan my exit strategy from this job so that's my main task for January!

Good eveninge everyone.

FIS, sorry you've had a bad week, but rofl at "ride me cowgirl"

Batters, the malteser traybake sounds devine. Must try that sometime, though not whilst bootcamping obviously,

Bedgebury sounded fun Duchess.

tortoiseSHELL · 09/12/2007 22:07

Hello, today hasn't been a good bootcamp day! But must have burned off about 20,000 calories conducting this evening....especially during the Hallelujah Chorus!!!

Am going to really try and have a good 6 weeks, I always start with good intentions and then fail. The rest of our life has fallen into farce and lunacy(!), but interestingly that seems to be less stressful than it has been lately, so that is good (sorry can't go into details, but is work related).

Hope everyone else has had a lovely weekend. We put our Christmas tree up yesterday so am feeling very festive!!!

unknownrebelbang · 09/12/2007 22:15

Pressed too soon, lol.

Have been helping out on cubcamp this weekend, so bootcamp went out of the window with camp food, lol. In fact, had two dinners last night because it was Christmas dinner and we also had an awards ceremony/dinner at the karate club (cue lots of rushing around making sure everything was ready and leaving notes for DH, before rushing between the two with DS3).

It has been a fun weekend though, and the boys were filthy. I'm shattered now, but happy shattered iykwim.

I'm up for sharing a proud mum moment (TS - your DS sounds delightful). My boys all do karate and they won four awards between them last night. DS1 has also just completed a coaching award run by the club - he's 13 and he helps out with training the students, particularly the younger ones, and he's actually quite good with the students, (although DS3 is not so enamoured, lol).

I really have to buckle down now in all areas, not just bootcamp. I've loads of work to get through in the next couple of weeks, plus I really need to get Christmas pressies/cards sorted along with the packing.

Congratulations to everyones clever DCs!

DH is in town again today which always seems to coincide with my sciatica being it's most painful - I've already walked the dog and put an escapee pony back in the field this morning but I'm dreading the 2 school runs and mucking out that is to come. I may take some painkillers and see if that helps.

Had lovely roast beef yesterday and made so much Yorkshire pudding batter that I had to make pancakes for pudding to use it up. Lots of lemon and sugar. Absolutely delicious.

Have missed breakfast again today. This is getting to be a very bad habit and is my target for the remainder of the year.

Happy Mondays all.

tortoiseSHELL · 10/12/2007 12:14

Well done unknownrebel's children - your boys sound like they're doing fantastically well!

batters - lol at 'porridge is poison!'

DofN - your Sunday lunch sounds YUM! Sorry your sciatica is bad - how many weeks are you now?

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 10/12/2007 14:54

ts - only 17 weeks. I'm hoping that the sciatica will go off when the weight shifts forwards a bit. I still don't have much of a bump so perhaps it's all pressure at the back at the moment.

One school run down, one to go (er, now). I've cleaned the chickens out - the cockerel is almost crowing, it's a sort of juvenile strangled noise! It's the ponies that are the hard work, the mud is about 1ft deep and it's hard to walk in at the best of times. Plus fat greedy ponies keep ambushing me in the worst muddy patch to try and get at their dinner and nearly knock me over. [I need a festive angry face here! - which could double as a 'too much port' face].

tortoiseSHELL · 10/12/2007 15:58

Everything does seem to shift doesn't it DofNB. HOpe you're feeling better soon.

I got dh to clean out our chickens at the weekend - they were drowning in mud! Am very at you having a cockerel AND ponies. What I would love (when I get my farmhouse!!!) is one of these and also a donkey...but that's not very likely......

I would love to run a sort of 'children's farm' for schools to come and visit, they could actually spend a day doing farm jobs, the school could borrow chickens for a few weeks etc. That would be my ideal 'alternative lifestyle'

DeckthehallswithboughsofDolly · 10/12/2007 20:08

Hello everyone

Just adding myself to the thread really. Have skimmed thread and old one but no time to post properly. Well done to all with clever DCs. Mine are being delightful but not especially sharp.

Bought a new car today which is good except it means I will have to drive it. I hate driving and am havingt o do lots of positive thinking to get behind the wheel again.

Am out for dinner in a minute. I realise monday night is not the best for socialising but it's the only night my very popular friend can make. I will try to have only one small glass of wine .

More later. Hope everyone had a good day and the commute / work / home / children were well behaved

WideWebWitch · 10/12/2007 20:09

Hello

no time
but 100g granola
2 apples
a pear
marmite sandwich
organic flapjack
a mouthful of bean salad that I took in to work and it smelled so awful I decided I wouldn't eat any more of it
ravenous at station so bought a Kitkat but too embarrassed to eat it on the train (think people will think she doesn't need chocolate, she's a heifer) so it's squished in my coat pocket
water
exercise on commute
sunscreen
and about to eat homemade cottage pie
and no booze, this is second night in a row

batters, sorry about dd not being well and wow, get you, at no alcohol at weekend, I'm most impressed

lovely proud stories here, TS, ds sounds sweet, unknownrelbang, what a lovely teenager he sounds

DofN, hope sciatica goes soon, mucking out must HURT with backache, poor you

Onwards everyone, EIGHT more days to go for me until I'm off for Christmas, hurrah!

WideWebWitch · 10/12/2007 20:11

Dolly, ghave a lovely dinner, it counts on happiness front.

I have no TIME to have friends...except you lot of course. And that's a shame isnt' it? If I had friends I def wouldn't have time to talk to my dh. Sigh.

Am very proud today - went to see DS (aged 3)in his Christmas show at playgroup. The children were mostly in Nativity costumes, except for those who had rebelled . DS was the innkeeper. They sang some songs, though it was mainly the playgroup leaders and one very enthusiastic little girl doing the singing. Ds looked slightly bemused all the way through, the boy playing Joseph sobbed his heart out, my friend's boy ripped off most of his shepherd costume and had the toy sheep in his mouth... As you can imagine, it was just gorgeous

I am going to see DD2's play tomorrow and DD1's on Wednesday. My lovely parents saw all 3 today, so must be feeling very festive!

Have eaten for Wales again recently and no exercise, but am very happy!

tartanandtired · 10/12/2007 21:48

Hello all - I've been trying to pluck up the courage to sign up for this. I want to give it a bash this week.

Today was my first day - some good, some bad. Ach well. Roll on tomorrow.

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter - wearing tinted moisturiser with SPF
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it - this one's easier as I don't generally drink on school nights
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer - only about 15 mins to and from train station, this is my hardest challenge
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day - no actually, this will be hardest. Drank very little today that wasn't tea
  • Apply body cream as often as possible - body lotion applied this morning especially
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff - hand cream done, foot cream..... does sweeping the body lotion down count?
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos - ^that's the plan....
  • Eat healthily - salad for lunch, Pizza for dinner plus lots of cadburys and two Millie's cookies. Oops
  • Be happy got a lovely DH, beautiful DS, watching Spooks. Check

Hope everyone has a fab Tuesday
t&t

tartanandtired · 10/12/2007 21:49

Oops. I guess my italics didn't work.

unknownrebelbang · 10/12/2007 22:00

Ahh, all these wonderful children. DS1 is indeed a fine figure of a teenager...when he's not a bag of hormones from hell, lol.

Can I just clarify - I only had two main courses, and one desert, lol - I declined the starters, (admittedly only cos I didn't like what was on offer) and saved one of the puds, so not quite so bad

Sorry to hear DD is not well Batters. Hope she's feeling better tomorrow, but I am rofl at porridge is poison, I think I agree.

Sorry to hear your sciatica is playing up again Duchess. Hope it's eased a bit.

What sort of car have you bought Dolly? ANY Socialising is good, any night of the week. My social life is dominated by the boys - most of our friends are those we've made through the boys iykwim, not that we always involve the boys, lol.

Nativity plays really are adorable.

Anyway, I'm getting back on track bootcamp wise. Managed a little exercise, and have eaten better today than all weekend (not difficult, lol). Had a manic day at work, but think I've manufactured Wednesday off so I can go shopping.

Hello all. Welcome to bootcamp tartan.

Today I score 1.5 out of 9 for bootcamp. No breakfast - because fat greedy pony had gone to visit the farm without my permission and I had to rush off and fetch him. No sunscreen, no body/hand/foot cream, not enough water, no real exercise and I had a late night. But no booze.

Half a point is for happiness at getting my emoticon but sciatica pain is preventing it being a full point!

Roll on Wednesday...

WideWebWitch · 11/12/2007 19:23

Goodness is it ONLY Tuesday?
how can that be?
welcome Tartan!

100g granola
apple
pear
tuna mayo sandwich
flapjack
water
knackered
have a chest thingy coming on I think, coughing like mad
and eating cottage pie at computer as I type

hey I was offered a contract today, smae money, 3 stops from Euston, am in a quandary. It's a job I didn't get before so wondering what befell the person who did get it, hmm. And I do like the contract I'm in atm and my boss and her boss so maybe better the devil you know? otoh central line and Northern line shite tonight (good svce on all other lines. Oh really? well those are the only two I bloody well use, grr)

any advice? Wondering about using it to negotiate 1 day a week from home sooner rather than later etc. I am in good position wher eI am I tihnk since threee people before me have tried and failed and they're really hoping I will do it (which I will, it's within my experience etc). Tried to push other co up on rate as that wouldhave made it a no brainer but no, same rate as I'm getting now but approx 1 to 1.5 hrs a day (maybe, haven't completely looked) less travelling. No great on my cv at other co unknown but hey, who cares?

Wise words welcomed.

unknownrebelbang · 11/12/2007 21:11

No advice I'm afraid www, my worklife is so far removed from yours, lol, I wouldn't have a clue. (I've been with the same organisation since I was 18 ).

Welcome T&T.

Really lost my way with the bootcamping. Will try again tomorrow.

Hello everyone

I am running around like a headless chicken having started new job. All well so far. Mothers help (have to try and find another name for her) is working out really well, two days in.

And I won the Cinderalla competition! So the Puddle family will be off to the Old Vic at some point over Christmas. Any advice on festive activities for the kids up in London would be great.

WWW I would negotiate a day at home and maybe some flexible start and finish times - perhaps you could finish early a couple of days, get home and catch up in the evening? I don't think a short amount of time is a bad thing on your cv as long as you have a convincing line for why it didn't work out - I have always thought it just shows a person who is in demand and confident about finding something else....

Bootcamping good, although I did drink a load of wine on Monday night after my first day in new job - god, I needed it though. Have been So Good with the food. Am saving myself for the next couple of weeks.

foofoothesnoo · 12/12/2007 14:33

oh, and am changing my name (this is puddle by the way). Am bored wth name and it's a bit, well, damp in the winter months.
