Weirdly attracted to this as loungewear ..

Would make a change from oversized pj bottoms that sag on my arse and jersey mens long-sleeved tees.

I would pass on the socks as don't like stripes much but the soft flow of this delights me.

It is Gudrun Sjoden, and im not much of a fan of their look in general, but this really caught my eye. It's a bit house on the prairie thanks to the petticoat layer but could swap that for something else...

So, anyone think this might make a nice variation on regular night/loungewear, or am I just really, really sick of trouser-y things?

I don't like it because I just don't like clothes the colour of sludge.
But I do wear a variation of it sometimes working from home, long sleeve jersey dresses with soft cotton leggings and sheepskin slippers.
Warm and comfy and less restrictive than bottoms with waistbands and no issues with unexpected knocks on the door/visitors.

omg I loved Annie as a child, was main reason I wanted docs as a teen to wear with floaty skirts!

my dad once bought me an Annie wig I was so obsessed, it was good fun Grin

I can't unsee it now though, am stepping away inch by inch.....put the wig down pheasantly!

this sounds nice, a good alternative to pjs.

@M0rT It's not the colour of sludge, I think you'll find it's called Light Potato Melange. Sludge would cost you 15 quid. Light potato melange whacks the price up to £79.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 14/10/2021 16:29

I really like it and I like Gudrun Sjoden style wise. Sadly though I'd look an utter eejit in it so I'd have to stay in the house with it on Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/10/2021 16:33

I wear Lands' End Starfish Slim Leg trousers as both lounge wear and gym wear. They're a good fit on an apple shape and don't need to be adjusted all the time. They go with a t-shirt for the gym and with a jersey tunic for lounging. I bought one of these to get me through lockdown, it's not as long on me as that model is quite short.

Classica · 14/10/2021 16:36

It's what Sara Crewe would have worn when her papa died and Mrs Minchin forced her into domestic servitude.

M0rT · 14/10/2021 16:40

@madisonbridges of course, how could I have mistaken it for sludge! Must clean my glasses Grin

Lindy2 · 14/10/2021 16:45

It has a sort of "I live in a workhouse" type of vibe to it. I'm not sure it's something I would wear but if you like it go for it.

dontgobaconmyheart · 14/10/2021 16:50

I think it looks uncomfortable to be honest, and a bit like an offcut from a charity bin, repurposed but I do fully appreciate the yearning for prairie style clothing, and do share it.

I think there are a multitude of options for loungewear, these days more than ever and I don't even own any matching sets of PJ's with 'saggy' arses etc. Lately when it's cold I've been wearing super soft ribbed leggings and matching jumpers in soft colours with soft calf length robes/cardigans layered. I don't do dressing gowns or pyjamas in the sense of anything novelty or printed cotton sets etc.

Yogawankonobi · 14/10/2021 16:52

I really love it

liveforsummer · 14/10/2021 16:52

Way too much flappy material to get tangled and twisted and ruffled. The contrasting socks are my favourite part

Pheasantlysurprised · 14/10/2021 16:53

thin but warm and roomy tunics with soft leggings sounds fantasitic - any recommendations?

Rhythmisadancer · 14/10/2021 16:56

hmm, definite "downstairs" vibe

IntermittentParps · 14/10/2021 17:18

I'm really not getting the Annie/prairie/workhouse thing from this. I like it but I'd only wear the top layer, I think; not sure why you'd need both, not with leggings as well.
I really like the socks. I have my eye on Gudrun S at the moment for those and the lovely scarves and gloves they've got.

cicatrix1 · 14/10/2021 17:24

LOVE IT...very Nordic????

StrongSunglasses · 14/10/2021 17:27

Yes it looks like it has a touch of the Dickensian about it for sure!

I’m sure it’ll be comfy though (as you ask for more gruel at breakfast)

StoopitAutocarrot · 14/10/2021 17:30

Has it got pockets?

Not keen on the colour but quite like the style!

RockinHorseShit · 14/10/2021 17:31

Dull as dishwater & hangs like a manky old dish cloth. Sorry but it's hideous, unless you like looking like a vintage child beggar

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/10/2021 17:35

I only have one (quite subdued and not prairie/flouncy/massively oversized) Gudrun Sjoden tunic/dress thing and it's good quality and has washed well, plus it has pockets. I quite often have a look online at the stuff but haven't found anything else that I like since. I would definitely consider buying again if the right thing came up as it's expensive but I would get a lot of wears out of it.

flippertyop · 14/10/2021 17:38

Good grief it looks like something someone in Victorian times would wear in the workhouse

Pheasantlysurprised · 14/10/2021 17:42

Ah, now these colours really suit me due to my colouring, so that wouldn't phase me. I wish I could get away with lovely jewel tones and more vibrant colours but apart from navy and charcoal grey I do seem to suit pale tones.

Nice accumulation of praise and horror here! I can't imagine buying Gudrun stuff for daily wear as none of the styles and colours suit me (they never show a muted, pale, 5'4 blonde in those outfits, I notice, and im on the slender side so probably would look like a depression era orphan).

A good jersey tunic and soft leggings with a loose/flat waistband would be great for wfh. I think.

I have a previous version of these which are super comfortable (if ££) and wear them with a long loose sweatshirt at home: www.toa.st/collections/womens-loungewear/products/crinkled-cotton-check-trousers-ink-blue-bluette

They are very soft, light and comfortable.

DameMaureen · 14/10/2021 19:51

If you want that look just go to this website . It's much cheaper .
