Loose skin after rapid weight loss

Not sure if this is the correct category to post but would appreciate any advice.
I put on a lot of weight in lockdowns etc and then had a very rapid loss this summer -went from 71kg down to 58 in just over two months (combination of stopping drinking wine and fell in madly love so had no appetite and a lot of outdoor exercise)
Very happy now getting into skinny clothes again and waist is tiny /but….
Skin on my waist and tummy looks like I am 100 years old. If I pull it to the side it looks fine but hideous otherwise.
Would appreciate any advice…

I can't promise, but I've been told taking collagen helps the skin, and also time. I've lots 5.5 stone (in a year) and my skin seems fine so far. I expected worse- though I have more to lose so it may get worse.

Look into fasting.

GraceMelbury · 07/10/2021 07:50

Bio oil is good

VitalsStable · 07/10/2021 07:56

Tummy tuck

Look into fasting.
What is this going to do?
TaraSiligel · 07/10/2021 08:23

Coconut Oil helps to tighten the skin, so something with that in. Also Shea Butter.

NavigatingAdolescence · 07/10/2021 09:25

@Neonplant

Puts the body into autophagy - it eats up the cells it no longer needs. Either 24-72 hour fasts or 16:8 eating may work.

How? Anything scientific to support that?
LarryUnderwood · 07/10/2021 09:29

@NavigatingAdolescence eats up excess skin cells?

ExConstance · 07/10/2021 09:35

If it is any consolation I have the same problem. I've lost 4 stone and although I could wear a bikini and do look much better overall there are crepey bits inside my arms and in some lights my abdomen looks quite wrinkly and draped. I'm just having to accept this for the time being I think. It isn't bad enough to seriously consider a tummy tuck so I'm hoping that plenty of exercise and waiting a while will improve things a little.

dunkaccino · 07/10/2021 09:39

If it wasn't stretched too much for too long it'll bounce back with a bit of time. If you've been far too fat for far too long there is no chance.

Applying 'insert any product' over time might 'work', but it's that time thing again isn't it, not the actual product.

Or apparently skip breakfast and wait for it to eat itself Hmm

HereticFanjo · 07/10/2021 09:40

Watching with interest because it's my fear. Can someone tell me more about the collagen?

Jas1985 · 07/10/2021 09:45

I’ve heard strength training can help. Building muscle beneath the skin helps to improve the appearance.

I lost a lot of weight in the past and managed to avoid the loose skin, but I put it all back on plus more over lockdown so don’t think I’ll be so lucky this time

AmsterDAMN · 07/10/2021 09:46

Surgery is the only way, sorry. I've lost a lot of weight and look like a wrinkly ball sac naked but pretty great in clothes

I’m mid-40s, 3 stone down since May, fast regularly and have no loose skin issues.

Yes -same here! Masses of compliments when dressed but wouldn’t frighten people by wearing a bikini 😁 Many thanks for the replies -I think sarongs snd one-piece costumes will e my solution

I lost 40kg over a year, 5yrs ago and did suffer from some loose skin.
Exercise and time have helped, my boobs which had turned into spaniel's ears have filled out and my arms and thighs aren't too bad. My stomach is still saggy, although the skin was always a bit dicey there after a pregnancy and I have a lot of stretch marks.

ILoveShula · 07/10/2021 10:48

Exercise (weights, pilates) and vitamin C will help

Shantotto · 07/10/2021 10:57

Isn’t that similar to what Linda Evangelista had and she recently said how it has gone wrong and left her with large lumps of painful fat all over her? She’s suing them and thinks it’s so bad she’s basically become a recluse. I certainly wouldn’t do it!

grasstreeleaf · 07/10/2021 11:00

@NavigatingAdolescence
Isn't fasting a bit risky as it might cause more (unneeded) weight loss and then more loose skin?

I've a bit of loose crinkly skin on my stomach myself but really can't afford to lose too much weight as I'm at the lower end of healthy BMI. Hoping exercise and body brushing will do the trick. At leat if I put on muscle weight then fasting for a short while wouldn't be such as issue,

No. If you eat enough of the right stuff during your eating window you won’t lose fat.
