Black trousers that fit like jeans

I'm looking for a pair of black trousers that will fit like a pair of skinny or slim leg jeans. I can't really wear jeans at work, though occasionally through the summer I've worn dark skinny jeans with a nice blouse and belt and it looks lovely. I tried the same look with the 100 pairs of black trousers in my wardrobe but it just doesn't look as good, or feel as comfortable.

So I suppose I'm looking for black slim or skinny fit trousers that have good structure/support in them, that I can wear a belt with. Do they exist?!

Next black jeans are really good and don't fade. In all the time I've had mine they are still black. I think they are more like trousers than jeans.

I have the skinny and bootcut lift slim and shape ones. I could get away with wearing them to work.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 29/09/2021 11:32

I'd wear black jeans as a last resort but would really prefer trousers to denim if possible.

I wear the M&S Jeggings - they don't look like demin at all but have a good fit. Super comfy and helpfully stretchy! My other go to is from M&S too - a cigarette pant fit.

God, I need to go shopping again if everything I own is M&S!!

DidgeDoolittle · 29/09/2021 11:35

Robell trousers fit like jeans. They're stretchy, flattering and very comfortable. Perfect for work.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 29/09/2021 11:44

I'd really like to be able to wear a belt, those Robell trousers don't have belt loops and I don't think the M&S jeggings do either? But I will take a look at other M&S options, as being a short-arse I like their shorter leg lengths.

Thanks @JerkintheMerkin they look like a great option!

I've got these. They're officially described as jeans but they don't have rivets or contrast top stitching and the fabric is more of a soft twill than a denim.

I've worn them to work loads, but it will depend on your office.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 29/09/2021 14:06

ooh they look lovely @WeRateSquirrels are they good for holding you in? or are they quite soft/stretchy?

They wash really well also. I have the black ones on now actually Grin

I find them a good combination of comfort and holding in! I'm very fussy about anything cutting in across the tummy area but I find these really comfortable and smart enough for work. They don't go horribly baggy after one wear either.

I was going to suggest the Uniqlo leggings trousers too. They don’t fade at all. You need to size up though as everything is super small.

Here is a pic.

@LifeInAHamsterWheel I'm shocked at how fat they make me look tbh! I'm only a size 10/12 honest Grin

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 29/09/2021 18:38

I wasn't really expecting a photo! Bit fair play Grin and you certainly don't look fat!! They look good and o like how "black" they are. Thank you Smile

@LifeInAHamsterWheel they hold their colour really well. I only had to replace them because they are my go to black trousers and I wear them everywhere WinkHave them in black, white, khaki and light grey.

JerkintheMerkin · 29/09/2021 19:43

They sell similar ones but the ones I buy cost £19.90.

amylou8 · 29/09/2021 19:46

White Stuff Jodie Ponte leggings are good (next sell them). Thick stretcy material, skinny jeans fit with back pockets. They're pull on though, no fly.

mynameiscalypso · 29/09/2021 19:51

I was staring at people's trousers on the tube this evening thinking about something very similar OP! I've had the Uniqlo ones before and I think they might be the best option.

Hello1290 · 29/09/2021 19:55

Roman Originals do stretch pull on trousers - no belt loops though as they have an elasticated waist :) but they are very comfy.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 29/09/2021 19:59

Yes see I need belt loops as I do like the look of the blouse/shirt tucked in and I feel a belt finishes it all off. Also I don't particularly want stretchy I want structure! So basically exactly like a good pair of black jeans, that aren't jeans Grin my husband is right I am very fussy

Not sure if next still do them but pretty sure they do skinny black jeans that they call “leggings”, they are denim but have a stretchy waist band like leggings. They also do ponte trousers.

TickledOnion · 29/09/2021 20:10

Gap used to do a skinny ankle trouser that fit like skinny jeans.

TickledOnion · 29/09/2021 20:11

I think they still exist. They are the skinny ankle pants.
