Will I look silly in DMs?

On a whim, I bought a pair of "Docs" on eBay. Used, but in excellent condition. A good price, and purple!

I'd always fancied a pair but never gotten around to it. Now I'm wondering if I've made a mistake.

I have biggish feet (7), am 52 and look every minute of it; I've aged terribly in the past few years. Also not so pretty, and a bit chubby.

Will I look like an old lady trying to be cool? Will my feet look enormous? Should I care?

(Have 3 daughters with the same size of feet, so they won't be wasted!)

Thanks.

@StarfishDish, they were hugely popular in the late 80s and early 90s, they were the shoe de jour at school.

I think we need a picture when they arrive Grin

I'm 43 and love all of mine, I have 3 pairs of patterned ones including a pair of limited addition the who ones

And an added bonus is someone's worn them in for you !

I did wonder recently if I was a bit old for dungarees but thought sod it and bought some anyway!

This reminds me:
When I was 22 years old(! ) yes 22! I bought Dr Martin canvas satchel.
It was black with a DM foot print on it printed on the front.
I loved it so much until some snarky teenagers made a hurtful remark on me saying: look she is so old and wears a bag as she would be 15 yr old.
I must add I stopped using it immediately and felt deeply ashamed and retained to an older style bags.
Stupid old me.

Agree. As much as DMs are having a fashion moment right now I would say DMs were even more popular in the 90s. Maybe it's because there is just more fashion about these days so DMs are just one trend among many whereas in the 90s they were one of the major trends.

@lockdownalli

I bought some recently but they are KILLING ME.

One is slightly too big I think.

Any tips?

They're as ubiquitous and as dull as jeans so I doubt anyone will raise an eyebrow at the OP

I have one pair which I very occasionally wore with dresses or a 1950s style, very full net skirt (in the utterly deluded assumption it was wacky and different)

They are the most uncomfortable footwear I've ever owned. What a waste of money.

Basically the last thing you said OP... You shouldn't care. I bet you'll look great anyway and have comfy feet. The older I get, the less I care what people think.
