How to reduce or get rid of the beginning appearance of jowels?

I’m 35 and after two babies where each time I put on and lost 5 stone my face has found some gravity and my cheeks have fallen to beneath my chin (not as bad but as best a description I can give)

What do people do to get rid?!

Yes, I would like to know this too. I've heard good things about nu face / foreo bear.

Bbub · 04/09/2021 17:03

I want to know this too! I'm planning on getting those non surgical face lift (Caci?) treatments next year and/or try a home microcurrent device but I'd like to know what people do that works..

UnfinishedBunting · 04/09/2021 17:08

I have these too.

I hate the idea of any sort of work, but jowls 😱, really?

JMAngel1 · 04/09/2021 17:18

Nu Face is good - also face yoga exercises and daily facial massage.
I also may secretly have one of those face hammock contraptions - fabulous but I look horrific whilst wearing it.

anewchapterishere · 04/09/2021 17:25

From my extensive research I don't think anything can help it except surgery or possibly fillers to some extent, I have the same problem. Face yoga isn't going to hurt but I doubt it will give noticeable results. Don't bother wasting your money on anything else I don't think.

Autumncosycoupe · 04/09/2021 18:40

Nuface mini does seem to help a bit, you have to use it 4 or 5 times a week but it only takes 5-10 mins

TaraR2020 · 04/09/2021 18:43

The results from nuface, from research, are neglible. As many people find it helps there are many who find it makes no difference...Much cheaper to do daily facial massage.

Ultimately I think the only permanent fix is cosmetic surgery

32inchtv · 04/09/2021 19:17

I’ve just looked at those foreo bears and the reviews seem positive. Has anyone tried one?

@JMAngel1 - what is a face hammock, please? Sounds like something I could do with!

Dontsayyouloveme · 04/09/2021 21:59

Fillers. Have got rid of my jowels!

Mycatispretty · 04/09/2021 22:10

Ultimately, it’s the deterioration of the muscles, connective tissue and skin plus the underlying shrinking boney structure of the jaw, with the ageing process that lead to jowels. No amount of yoga facial exercises, massage or magic cream can counteract this. Sad but true.
My dentist explained all this to me, it was very depressing. I had a brace to realign my teeth which has helped. However, cosmetic surgery is needed to correct a sagging jawline

blueshoes · 04/09/2021 23:26

A surgical facelift is the rolls royce treatment.

For a less invasive procedure, I read but never tried it, google 'lunchtime facelift' or thread facelift. 'Lunchtime' because you can apparently get it done over lunch. It uses a thread from the chin to hairline to pull the skin up and reduce jowls. It lasts about 18 months.

Cheek fillers is likely your easiest & most effective answer to this at the age of 35 but impossible to say without an assessment.
You lose mid face fat pads & volume as you age. Subtle restoration of the scaffolding (cheek fat pads) that hold your face up & stops it sliding down like a melting candle (all v normal in the ageing process) will lift the lower face.

Rio neck toner.

Cheap as chips but not a pleasant experience for three minutes a day. Sorted my double chin out though.

So if you get cheek fillers what happens to the jowls, do they disappear?
UserNameNameNameUser · 05/09/2021 01:13

Face yoga. Bloody brilliant. Builds the supporting muscles back up and improves blood flow to the skin to tighten it up. You have to really put in the effort though.

pheonixrebirth · 05/09/2021 02:01

I've been using the Philips Lumea on my legs, bikini line and face and I swear it's made a difference. I was getting that jowel thing and thought fuck it, just do it on my neck as well. At the end of the day it's gotta be doing something if it recommends using factor 50 and no sunbeds after?!

wombforanotherone · 05/09/2021 06:41

@Anordinarymum yes because the cheek fillers lift up the skin, lifting up the jowls

WhyDoIFeelAwful · 05/09/2021 06:52

@UserNameNameNameUser what face yoga do you do?

MarleneDietrichsSmile · 05/09/2021 07:52

You’re way too young for jowls, maybe it’s not as bad as you think?

I had started considering this. Seems a very quick effective fix

Hopefully this photo of my jawline isn’t recognisable of me …

I sat in bed last night doing Gua Sha with my jade stone and wondering if that’s help a bit in the mean time

I’m now considering if to treat myself for my birthday this month one of those electric face machine things or dermal fillers

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 05/09/2021 08:56

Honestly OP you look fine, they really aren’t jowls, its just the softening of your jawline. I’m 37 and have the same.

I did get a nuface a few years ago but don’t really bother using it as it’s a faff. I did see a tiny improvement after use but you have to use it pretty much daily to maintain. Plus it’s never gonna do enough to make a real difference.

I was told before that cheek fillers can give your face a slight lifted effect, but I worry that they will make me look puffy and weird.
