How to reduce or get rid of the beginning appearance of jowels?

I’m 35 and after two babies where each time I put on and lost 5 stone my face has found some gravity and my cheeks have fallen to beneath my chin (not as bad but as best a description I can give)

What do people do to get rid?!

If you smile, then put your finger under your cheek to hold the smile in place, iyswim, and stop smiling, the effect on your jawline is the effect cheek fillers will have, but you can see the actresses/celebs who've had cheek fillers and start to look like aliens.

Personally I opted for a modified single stitch lift, which worked wonders, but I was in my 50s not 30s. Personally I don't think you look jowley at all.

Delatron · 05/09/2021 09:15

I love my Nuface. But you do need to use it at least 5 times a week and I think that’s why people think it doesn’t work. They don’t use it consistently. I had Profhilo recently and wasn’t allowed to use it for two weeks and I did notice a difference in my face.

It’s not dramatic and can’t do what surgery does but it helps I think. I’ve heard good things about face yoga too but just can’t fit this in on top of the Nuface.

I’ve not had filler for jowl lifting (had tear trough) but that is an option. You do have to be very careful with cheek filler though.

Next thing I’m going to try in radio frequency. This is supposed to tighter the skin so will help with sagging.

Delatron · 05/09/2021 09:17

I’ve looked at your photo and I don’t think you need filler at all. Plus you’re too young!

Lots of people on here rave about the Foreo Bear device.

MarleneDietrichsSmile · 05/09/2021 10:07

I see no jowels on that photo tbh Confused

Nuffaluff · 05/09/2021 10:11

There’s a lot of expensive snake oil available these days I reckon. Only now it’s started taking on an electronic form.

Nuffaluff · 05/09/2021 10:12

Yeah, loads of people rave about a lot of things on here, don’t they?
I don’t trust a lot of it. Free advertising.

Delatron · 05/09/2021 10:49

God how depressing. People ask for help. Posters spend time posting to help and they get accused of free advertising.

Cheek fillers will restore lost volume in cheeks and lift sagging skin - that will improve your jowls. If you Google before and after pictures, you will get an idea. X

UnfinishedBunting · 05/09/2021 12:24

OP, it's really not that bad! Mine aren't really either - I'm just going to grow old happily and try to ignore them 🙂.

A friend had mid-face filler and she looks so refreshed. You can't tell she's had anything done, her face just looks a lot better, it's taken a few years off her, and her face doesn't look as saggy as it used to. She paid around £250. That may be an option as it doesn't seem or look too invasive.

That sounds really impressive.

I’d love to see a before and after but imagine that would be a bit awkward to ask for Grin

It would, yeahGrin

But you could research mid-face filler and see some before and after pics then. I believe she had 1ml filler so, not much - just enough to lift the sag and give her a fresh faced look as opposed to looking tired and a bit jowly. Hope that makes sense.

Using a good Vitamin C serum daily really does wonders for getting glowing skin and reducing sag. Do some research but I bet there are threads on it here in S&B.

Can recommend the rio facial toner which I paid about £75 for. It can be used to work various facial muscles including the muscles at the jawline and cheeks. I've also had fat dissolving injections at my chin and jawline which has helped.

Il take a look at the roller

Do you think fat dissolving injections would do the job rather than fillers maybe?

In my experience, facial exercises work and have got rid of my jowls and double chin.

But the way I work my muscles is ... I play a brass instrument! 🎺 I often feel the muscles in the side of my face stiff the day after a 2 hour rehearsal and my face looks really toned... Ok, so not everyone can do this, but get the right muscles working in other ways and you'll see benefits

Limitedhelp · 05/09/2021 22:56

@32inchtv generally fat dissolving isn't performed on the jowls (in the UK anyway)

You have already discussed cheek filler, but also I would recommend filler to your pre jowl sulcus and probably some at the angle of your jaw bone too.

I think this might be my favourite response to one of these threads.

I think the fat dissolving has made my jawline more defined though the girl wouldn't inject further up into my face. The rio toner is good at working out the cheek muscles which helps 'pull' my lower face up a bit. It's an area I don't like either.

madmomma · 06/09/2021 09:36

I love the idea of us all playing brass instruments!!! What a genius anti-aging idea! 😂

ElizabethTudor · 06/09/2021 09:39

Yes, let’s start a Mumsnet brass band! 🎺

That would be the best legacy I could have ever hoped for on starting a thread on MN

Does anyone have experience of micro needling ?

ElizabethTudor · 06/09/2021 20:09

@32inchtv it would be a pretty awesome outcome to a jowl-forming prevention thread! 🤣🤣

Bluntness100 · 06/09/2021 20:12

Fillers on your cheek bones, they basically act as the coat hanger for your face, you lift them up then you remove the sagging round your jowls.
