And throw out/charity shop all the stuff that is bobbled, worn out, doesn’t fit or I never wear.

Pray for me I’m going to have no clothes left lol.

So I have a huge pile for charity shop, a smaller pile for bin and I’ve found stuff I’d forgotten about. I don’t need new clothes I’ve plenty 😂😂😂

When did I think I’d ever be a size 12 again though?

I do need shoes. A pair of navy casual shoes, a pair of black brogues and a pair of tan brogues. (Need lace ups can’t wear super flats or heels).

And I have a pile of random shit that doesn’t go with anything else but looks nice. A fabulous red jacket for a start.

@Miniroofbox How are you getting on? I need to do mine. 7 months after giving birth and nothing fits Grin

Miniroofbox · 29/08/2021 09:56

I’ve been so ruthless. It makes me a bit sad all the stuff I was keeping that isn’t close to fitting (menopausal body shape change, disabled weight gain). But hopefully I’ll have stuff I actually wear now

SquirryTheSquirrel · 29/08/2021 10:03

I did mine earlier this year - it was very satisfying. I can actually find the clothes I want to wear now!

MrsPumpkinSeed · 29/08/2021 10:04

🙏🙏🙏

Grin Good luck. Badly need to do mine. It will be great and you will feel better everyday.

I've been out of our house (renovations) for three months with only what was in the laundry basket and a couple of things I could contort myself to reach (dh forgot I hadn't packed when he moved ds's bedroom furniture into our room) so I'm doing similar with anything summery. I figure if I haven't needed it, I don't really need it. I'm a cold creature though and need lots of winter layers so I'm being more cautious with those bits. It feels good to get through it though.

Miniroofbox · 29/08/2021 10:16

Yeah I’m glad I’ve done it I feel like I have outfits I can wear instead of just feeling crap

You wardrobe and you mind will be so much better for doing this. Plan yourself a little treat for afterwards

Miniroofbox · 29/08/2021 10:49

The sweat is lashing off me. No joke.

Ah I love a good clear out. I officially retire on Tuesday and have had great fun moving my formal clothes into the spare wardrobe/charity shop/friends. I found it daunting to do it all in one go though so did it in stages- trousers, tops, knitwear, underwear etc. Good luck!

Anothermountain · 29/08/2021 13:00

Well done op. I need to do the same. I've put on weight and I need to face it.

I'd be interested to know roughly how long it takes? Including getting rid of bobbled stuff, rags, and anything you are giving away or selling? I tend to underestimate the time it takes to do jobs like this.

Anothermountain · 29/08/2021 13:01

Happy retirement poolblue! Flowers

I need to accept that I have moved to a climate that I don’t love and that 80% of my wardrobe I love, but I can’t justify storing it. (Plus, it will probably get mildew here.) I have also moved on from a perimenopausal period of wishing to disappear into a sea of neutrality and am now recognizing that the truth is that neutrals don’t actually work for everyone. (I look like I need a blood transfusion.)

thefourgp · 29/08/2021 13:23

I did it yesterday and I’m giving to a local charity in our county that need donations for the Afghan refugees coming here. Just an idea in case you’d like to help them too. There might be a similar collection where you live. Smile

Miniroofbox · 29/08/2021 17:32

I’m donating to a local women’s refuge :)

Right. So. What do you do with something you love but goes with nothing else (stunning red jacket)?

OP posts:
Miniroofbox · 29/08/2021 17:34

Also. What’s “in” for autumn for a 50 year old apple?

MarleneDietrichsSmile · 29/08/2021 17:37

Keep the jacket. Could you wear it with a denim skirt? Red and denim can look good together

jellybeanteaparty · 29/08/2021 17:50

If you love the red jacket and it's stunning buy something to go with it especially as you have got rid of a lot of stuff

Baileystruffle · 29/08/2021 18:28

Would the stunning red jacket look great with a pair of jeans and white/neutral top?

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 29/08/2021 22:03

Yes! Don't chuck out something fabulous: build some outfits round it.

Red goes brilliantly with tan/beige/light browns, also khaki, navy, white and (in moderation, to avoid an 80s effect) black. So lots of options.

Miniroofbox · 29/08/2021 22:19

Thanks I really do appreciate the ideas

OP posts:
Miniroofbox · 29/08/2021 22:19
