Does this dress need a necklace?

I have a wedding next week, I've stressed over the dress, not really finding the one! Anyway it's too late to look for anything else now as we go away for it on Monday.
I have settled in this dress, with blush pink sandles and bag and a navy headband fascinator. Does it need a necklace do you think?

I've been looking at that dress for a while, I love it.
I don't think it needs a necklace but I'd wear bigger-than-usual earrings and maybe a bracelet?

Are you happy with the dress? Quality etc?

PeasPeasPeasAreGoodForYou · 20/08/2021 09:15

Love this dress!
I wouldn't do a necklace just statement earrings!
Have a lovely time!

Daisy829 · 20/08/2021 09:16

I was about to say the same. Statement earrings. A necklace would be awkward with the neckline on the dress & it’s lovely so you don’t want to detract from it.

Howshouldibehave · 20/08/2021 09:20

See, I think I would do a necklace with that dress-something small and with a single sparkly stone-then simple (like diamond studded) earrings to match. I think the dress is quite a statement (it’s stunning) so would do simple jewellery.

OnebusyMum · 20/08/2021 09:21

Thank you, i didn't know with having the fascinator that statement earring would go, but yes that's fine.
The quality is good, it holds you in, in all the right places! @MeridasMum, some people have said you don't need a bra, havn't tried it without though.
This is my headband fascinator (DD modelling it)!

Big earrings, no necklace or fascinator.

OnebusyMum · 20/08/2021 09:51

@Miliao thank you, I like the fascinator, I think because I havnt dressed up for so long, it makes me feel dressy.

Ah I see! Each to their own, in my cohort they’re seen as a bit old-fashioned and fussy, but appreciate some people like them. I think they also got a bit of a bad press when there was that furore at ascot with the upper classes deeming them chavvy and they were banned from one enclosure!

spooney21 · 20/08/2021 10:02

It's gorgeous! Agree with others - no necklace, the neckline is flattering enough. A nice pair of earrings, though not too statementy if you're wearing a fascinator.

OnebusyMum · 20/08/2021 10:38

Thank you, I'll have a look through my earrings see what I have.

Lovely dress. Drop the fascinator though, grown ups don't generally wear big bows in their hair.

OnebusyMum · 20/08/2021 10:49

Thanks @CorrBlimeyGG, I've seen lots of pictures of people wearing all kinds of different headwear at weddings just lately, bows and all sorts. I suppose it's just how the individual feels.

Is the dress black? If so then the blue wont go could you do blush pink hat or fascinator instead? Or go without and wear big earrings

KimDeals · 20/08/2021 10:49

Lovely dress! Yes as others said I’d keep the attention up around your face - hair, striking makeup, big statement earrings. Keep the shoulders and neck completely bare. It will look more dramatic.

I would say a definite no to a matchy matchy necklace and earrings look!

I also do not like fascinators but that’s just a personal thing! Is it the right colour though for the dress??

OnebusyMum · 20/08/2021 10:54

It's a navy dress, the photo does make it look black.
It was a bargain £5 when I got to the till fascinator so I'll decide when I'm dressed whether to wear or not...
I don't think I've ever been so anxious about a wedding before, and choosing an outfit has been really stressful!

Cleverpolly3 · 20/08/2021 10:57

No faff with a dress like that, hair down earrings and a nice clutch bag simple heels nothing glittery or statement

A fascinator would wreck the look

OnebusyMum · 20/08/2021 11:03

@Cleverpolly3 thanks, I've seen pictures of women in the dress with fascinators and they look really good, I'll see how I feel on the day.

On another point do men match the colour of the tie to their partners dress?

OP posts:
PeasPeasPeasAreGoodForYou · 20/08/2021 11:33

I personally like a fascinator!

We match DPs tie's to my dress yes.

OnebusyMum · 20/08/2021 11:40

@PeasPeasPeasAreGoodForYou thank you, I've never worn one, so just thought I would give one a try. If everyone had the same taste the world would be a bit weird.
Thanks, off to find a navy tie for him then!

Dozer · 20/08/2021 11:42

I’d do necklace or statement earrings, dislike the fascinator, and it doesn’t go with the dress.

Goofers · 20/08/2021 11:44

@CorrBlimeyGG

Lovely dress. Drop the fascinator though, grown ups don't generally wear big bows in their hair.
Utter nonsense! Honestly some people do talk tosh on here Grin

The fascinator looks fab!

OnebusyMum · 20/08/2021 11:44

@Dozer can I just ask why it doesn't go with the dress?

OP posts:
MoltonSilver · 20/08/2021 11:49

No necklace or earrings. Just a bracelet. Enjoy the day. It's so nice to have things to celebrate and an excuse to dress up.

OnebusyMum · 20/08/2021 11:56

@MoltonSilver thank you, definitely had a rough few months with one thing and another, so I need to get dressed up and enjoy myself, but all I'm feeling is anxious!

OP posts:
Friendofdennis · 20/08/2021 12:04

It’s a beautiful dress. I would wear a simple chain
