Hi,

Does anyone know please how to get blue hair dye out? My daughter did the bottom half of her hair at the start of the school hols. It's not coming out at all and needs to be out for going back in September. It was a semi permanent one. She really doesn't want it cutting.

TIA

The blue pigment contains metallic compounds. The permanent chemicals reacted with them, as they do with Henna.

He talked himself out of £220 that morning, so I don't think he was doing it for fun; he did say that he didn't expect it to be such a strong reaction when there was no visible blue, but that he was very glad he'd taken three test strands from different areas, as it was only one which had the reaction. And my hair wasn't in obviously poor condition, either.

On the back of this I have erred on the side of caution and booked hairdressers for 31st. Can be cancelled if I get it out before! It's about 6 inches on her hair.

She's had quite a few compliments on it though so I don't think will regret it even if it means a haircut. She can grow ready to repeat next summer.

She's only 10 so don't think primary are ready for blue....I did say it would match the uniform!

Have you tried Vitamin c tablets crushed with shampoo leave on for a while and rinse if that fails try the colour b4 which can be brought from most places which sell hairdye. Blue and red are the worse to get out.

We did try vit c thanks, that didn't seem to make much difference but might not have left it on long enough.

Good luck with your daughter! Hopefully you will get it out before.

Hairdressers tomorrow it is! It has faded some but it's still pale blue. Tbf she's not that fussed about having it cut so we kept it in as long as possible to enjoy rather than try all sorts to wash out.

Hope you had success.

We have only managed to get to pale green 😁 . Will have it cut weds but she has come round to it now and quite looking forward to going shorter. Hope your daughter is happy with hers tomorrow!

Blue is a ballache and the last time I tried to remove mine to replace it, even professional bleach by my very talented hairdresser just made it mint green. I now have a full waist length rainbow and I was warned by aforementioned hairdresser that should I continue river swimming, the river water would strip most of my colour extremely quickly.

In case that's helpful :)
