i think they look sweet but some of my friends relly hate this look. but then i hate the surfer/skateboarder/footballer/soldier look they all dress their toddlers in. omg and if i see another newborn dressed up as a rabbit or bear i think i will scream!!

DS had a gorgeous tank top from Monsoon. He looked adorable (ears and all).

snowleopard · 28/11/2007 14:14

My friend's DD is ginger! She looks great in it though.

"Have a strop I will"

MerryAnnSinglemas · 28/11/2007 14:14

hey Marina - we must be about same age !

snowleopard · 28/11/2007 14:15

Like a V-neck woolly jumper, but with no arms. Even more classic if stripy or fairisle.

Marina · 28/11/2007 14:16

I am an amazingly youthful 44 MaryAnn. Dd now says, "I'll have to whisper mummy and daddy's ages to you, I'm not allowed to say them" - this to my own parents...

Marina -I'm older (sob!!) - ds has been brainwashed into thinking I'm 21 but has figured out that I must've been about 11 when I had him...

OrmIrian · 28/11/2007 14:19

Jumpers and tank top OK, but please please please not suits with waistcoats.

brimfull · 28/11/2007 14:20

saw a black velvet suit in H&M for little boys-vom

MerryAnnSinglemas · 28/11/2007 14:22

yuck yuck yuck - little boys in suits

snowleopard · 28/11/2007 14:26

Yes suits are silly.

Tanks are cute and practical - suits just whimsical and miserable to have to wear.

Marina · 28/11/2007 14:43

Monsoon for boys is a perfect example of where the line might be drawn IMO. Their stuff can be found either side of the ludicrous/stylish divide
They had fedoras for boys in our local branch
You'd get beaten to a pulp on our streets in about 30 seconds

snowleopard · 28/11/2007 14:49

I nosed about in the new Monsoon for kids shop here recently and swooned over some of the cute stripy tanks etc - but rejected them as too expensive and not practical (i.e. lambswool and cashmere - daft). I like knitted cotton ones or washable wool.

snowleopard · 28/11/2007 14:50

HM, Zara, Boots and Next are the places to get them, if anyone wants to copy this happening trend.

Full Arsenal kit - ewww horrible. My son has an Arsenal goalie shirt. I feel in a bad mood every time he wears it - it makes a sort of whooshing sound as he walks. And when you wash it it does something magical - it is dry almost before it is wet.

tbh I don't like golf or Uncle Edward outfits on small boys. I think fashion and boys - small or large - is a mistake.

nappyaddict · 30/11/2007 10:08

what are uncle edward outfits?

nappyaddict - Uncle Edward - sorry a family saying. My Uncle Edward wore Viyella shirts, brown, navy or mustard coloured cords etc (I am sure you know the look). Perhaps a style that will take you from cradle to grave has merit.

bossykate · 30/11/2007 12:37

i bought ds a tank top and he refuses to wear it

Cords and Viyella are a lot more comfortable than weird rustly nylon though swedes, would you not agree?
Dd had a 5th hand ancient Laura Ashley Viyella child's frock, very Aunt Ermintrude, but it was so comfortable, she loved it to bits (even the preposterous matching bloomers)
