Marni jacket

Oh don't be chippy janitor!

Now personally I would baulk at spending £500 at a sack with a label. For that price it would have to be classic style and immaculate tailoring that would last a long time.

DH has a Marni suit which fell apart in no time (and he only paid about £70 for it in Century21)

Anna8888 · 26/11/2007 16:01

From someone to me.

ah i get it now. Yes, it's always the best idea to choose your own presents

Anna8888 · 26/11/2007 16:03

CountessDracula - I never buy classic. I buy a few things I wear to death and then replace. I have the smallest wardrobe known to woman .

I would love to meet the person who would buy this one...

belgo · 26/11/2007 16:05

yes it's a good idea it buy the best you can afford because it will last longer and be cheaper in the long run

CountessDracula · 26/11/2007 16:05

No I don't a lot either
but I wouldn't spend £500 on for eg a purple puffball dress that would be derided by next year

Anna8888 · 26/11/2007 16:05

Yes, the Pucci one is horrid...

belgo · 26/11/2007 16:05

really like that coat CD, I would buy it if I had that sort of money to spare

belgo · 26/11/2007 16:06

Is it made form rabbit fur?!maybe I wouldn't buy it then...

Anna8888 · 26/11/2007 16:08

I would much rather have a few clothes I absolutely adore and wear to death in a season or two and replace than lots of stuff.

But I'm like that. There's a thread about towels and duvet covers. I'm the same about them - only one set of sheets per bed and one towel per person in this house . That way they wear out while they are still vaguely in style and I can replace quickly.

I don't understand the concept of eg "I went shopping for a few tops".

The first one is ghastly, the 2nd would look better, minus the belt (definitely). A trip to Hobbs would serve you well as they've got some cracking coats with some movement and style for half the price of the Marni stuff.

Anna8888 · 26/11/2007 16:10

Not generally keen on Hobbs... cut never suits me.

In UK I shop in Jigsaw and Joseph.

Not a white towel in sight in this house .

OP posts:
belgo · 26/11/2007 16:12

that's what I was thinking MMJ

TellusMater · 26/11/2007 16:13

Anna - what is a stylish towel? I have to know...

Anna8888 · 26/11/2007 16:13

I have two extra sets for visitors so if someone were to be ill we could use them. But no one is actually ever ill.

No white towels, no white sheets, no white nothing. Don't do basic

TM - towels are like clothes, they are bought to suit the person

My daughter has a stripey velvety one from Greengate.

I have a multicoloured one from Donna.

My partner has all khaki towels, dressing gown and face flannels (he's blond/fair skinned).

The boys have blue and cream.

Nothing remotely grotty in our house. All fresh and clean. And thrown out and replaced regularly.
