Camouflage makeup? Covering up skin lesion.

Beautyadvicepls · 13/07/2021 13:36

First time poster on this board looking for advice.
My dd is 12 and has a lesion on her nose. It is a collection of blood vessels so it is raised and red. DD hates it and says it’s the first thing people notice about her. She said she is asked what it is all the time with her classmates making fun of her.
I have tried to tell her it is part of who she is and she is beautiful. Of course this doesn’t help and she is worried about secondary school and being bullied.
Because the lesion is red and raised the makeup I have tried on her nose looks awful. If she was older foundation and concealer would cover it. However at 12 I don’t want her wearing a full face of make up.
Does anyone know of a concealer or cream that would cover it? She has very pale skin which doesn’t help.
I don’t agree with her wanting to cover it but Dd is desperate to avoid the staring she currently gets.
Any advice appreciated.

There's a full camouflage Estee Lauder foundation that she could just dab on, I strongly suggest getting colour matched first, in fact ask for a tester to try at home, that are really good IME. Expensive but really worth it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/07/2021 13:42

I don’t agree with her wanting to cover it Why? Wouldn't you want to for the reasons your daughter has said.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/07/2021 13:44

There is a very pale concealer in Aldi at the moment which is a rip off of Shape Tape, super high coverage and incredibly pale. Worth a go as only £3.99

Worth a look here?

Er has she seen a doctor about it? I had a lesion and it needed dermatology input.

Girlintheframe · 13/07/2021 13:47

Dermalend is very good.

I've used it to cover psoriasis in the fast.

*Dermablend

MrsP I understand her wanting to cover it up but I don’t think she should have to. Perhaps I worded it clumsily. What I meant is I think she is beautiful and shouldn’t have to cover it to fit in with perceived ideals of beauty. I want her to be happy and confident though hence me asking for advice.

Could I take her into Boots & talk to one of the makeup advisers on one of the counters do you think? Or would they think this odd as DD only 12?

She has seen dermatology who said it is benign.

No one will think it's odd, she's 12, in a year's time a lot of her peers will be wearing tons of make up.

Don't underestimate the power of camoflaguemake up, I would be distraught if they discontinued my foundation, seriously.

HollowTalk · 13/07/2021 13:53

Wasn't the dermatologist interested in removing us?

Beautyadvicepls · 13/07/2021 13:56

hollow we paid privately as NHS have said they won’t pay. Consultant said they could cut or scrape it off which would leave a large scar. Other option was lasering it which consultant said would leave a scab for up to 6 weeks. She had no availability to do it until Sep so in the meantime was trying to think of ways to cover it up.

There are lots of specific brands for camouflage I have used most. Dermablend, veil and dermacolor spring to mind, some boots stores stock Dermablend. Veil and dermacolor I get direct (I used to get it on prescription but I'm not sure if that is still possible my Dr won't although I believe others will) depending on where you are in the country I suppose I went to my local hospital to find out what was best for my particular issue. The red cross used to offer a camouflage service too. Message me if you would like any further help. I know you think your daughter is beautiful that is lovely but she wants to see herself that way too. 12 is a difficult age. I think that is when I started to look for something to cover mine x

Prettypinkpeonies · 13/07/2021 14:09

Veil have sample pallets so you can test for colour match www.veilcovercream.com/

Champagnecharleyismyname · 13/07/2021 14:48

I use Vichy dermablend on a scar I have. A tiny bit on a small concealer brush and tap it in, use light layers. You may have to try a few colours to get a good match. A little loose powder over the top.

sanitygirl · 13/07/2021 15:03

It looks tiny - like a reddish mole. I'd just dab on some full coverage concealer - Revolution concealer is good (available at Superdrug) and comes in a wide range of shades.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/07/2021 15:04

Honestly, the pale Aldi concealer mentioned earlier would sort that out easily.

Lucia574 · 13/07/2021 15:08

I’d go to a Mac counter. I had a nasty red post op scar on my face and used their concealer that comes in a little pot.

Beautyadvicepls · 13/07/2021 15:21

Thank you for all the recommendations. Yes it is small. To be fair in “real” life it is more noticeable and dd says people are constantly asking her about the red “thing” on her nose. I have tried concealer but because the concealer isn’t going on top of foundation the concealer looks very obvious.

Not sure at 12 whether an aesthetics place would laser but its pretty painless quick and in terms of scabbing nothing that wouldnt be fixed after a half term break. First 3 days red and scabby but a good long term solution. I also recommend Estee Lauder. X

Beautyadvicepls · 13/07/2021 15:35

recruit I thought the same, a couple of weeks with scabs maybe 10 days but consultant said six weeks which scared me a bit.

Laser for the summer holidays and all done ready for high school ? Kid's skin heals so fast, I'd be surprised if it was 6 weeks.

EssexLioness · 13/07/2021 16:12

Another recommendation for veil camouflage cream. They do a sample palette so u can find the perfect colour match. It is easily layered to give thicker coverage too. Looks perfectly fine without foundation
