Would anyone like to admire and comment on my knee dents?

Since January I have been really disciplined in my eating and exercising having previously been swinging wildly between bingeing and dieting and very inactive. I am disabled so exercising is tricky for me -I can't do high impact, running, exercise bike type exercise - so I have been doing a routine of yoga stretches and strength training at home. I've not lost masses of weight, about 8 kilos this year and 18 kilos altogether from my previous heaviest point, but I feel masses better and my fat clothes are now much too big.

I'm starting to notice differences in musculature now which is a completely new thing for me! I've been much slimmer before but have never had shapely arms and shoulders, for instance. My latest thing is I have noticed these indentations on the insides of my knees. Previously I had pads of fat there, and I don't remember ever having these dents even when about ten stone.

Anyway I just wanted to show off this small achievement, and to ask if you think the dents are to do with muscle development? I do 30 pretty deep squats and 25 split squats six days a week and have noticed my thighs are now quite hard when I tense them!

Thank you for listening to me. I don't really have anyone irl who I can show them off to. Smile

Well done OP. It’s good when hard work and effort can be seen. Even more so with your health challenges. When I did 30 day shred last year my pudgy knees disappeared.

purplegirl13 · 14/07/2021 19:22

Well done, very inspiring! I have health issues with a chronic condition and really should get myself fitter and stronger to help me on the bad days. Now off to google 'yoga for dummies'

WeirdArchitecture · 14/07/2021 20:44

this has put a dent in my self esteem.
I must do more yoga! Grin

4PawsGood · 14/07/2021 20:48

@chamberofhorrors
No I think it’s much more logical to focus on the thing that’s good for you rather than entirely cosmetic.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 14/07/2021 21:21

I just went into my room and closed the door to privately view my knees. Nope, not a dent in sight. There was a tiny shadow visible at first, and I had dent-hope, but sadly it was quickly dashed when I put the light on.

I'm inspired and rather awed, OP. Well done!

Passthecake30 · 14/07/2021 21:28

I bet every single person on this thread has examined their knees! One of mine has a bigger dent than the other, well done for having a matching pair Grin

WellTidy · 14/07/2021 21:41

Yes, I can see them! I’ve never had those, not even when I was 7stone 2lb. Which is a healthy BMI for my height!

M0rT · 14/07/2021 21:42

Wow! Such beautiful dents! Awishawoo!
This is really inspiring!
I have pain and mobility issues too and sometimes I let myself off exercising a bit too quickly because of it.
But it really is consistency that makes the difference, as your stunning knee dents proveSmile
Is it the scd diet?
I try to follow that too, it's like a part time job!

goose1964 · 14/07/2021 21:58

My main dents are under my knees but I have tiny ones on the side too.

cosmopolitanplease · 15/07/2021 08:56

Hi @M0rT! I follow the Wahls diet, which is basically paleo. It was devised by a doctor called Terry Wahls who has MS. Smile

@chamberofhorrors Wow - so instead of scrolling on by or congratulating the OP on a little sign she's pleased ablut as the result of the weight loss and toning she's achieved in spite of the extra challenges of exercising as a disabled person, you rudely pick on aspect of her appearance that you can't possibly think she's not aware of, and belittle her achievements. Well done you .

withlotsoflove · 15/07/2021 11:55

I would just like to congratulate you op l didn’t know it was a thing either… but the fact you managed to find a workout routine and stuck to it ( with limited mobility especially) is just fucking fantastic!
I train & have to force myself to do so sometimes and l don’t have any physical limitations.
Very inspiring post. Flowers
WELL DONE!

Dsisproblem · 15/07/2021 12:04

Well done OP! Fantastic work to get into an exercise routine while also managing your disabilities. You are an inspiration!

cosmopolitanplease · 15/07/2021 12:23

Thank you everyone! Genuinely quite emosh at all your encouragement Smile

As you've (mostly) all been so lovely I would like to share with you a picture of my new arm dents! I know dents isn't the right term but that's how I think of them. I don't have a before picture as I rarely uncovered them but they had no musculature at all and were super wobbly so I'm quite pleased to see bumps and dents appearing at last. Smile

Birkie248 · 15/07/2021 12:38

I hear you Op! Well done! I struggle to exercise and recognise the weak as a kitten feeling! You’ve done really well and inspired me to actually take my lunchtime walk.
I have arthritis and Crohns but like swimming. I keep showing off my new found shoulder muscles trapezium and deltoids I think. My DH seems a bit underwhelmed but I know they’re there!

cosmopolitanplease · 15/07/2021 12:55

@Birkie248 my dh and ds's are all muscly and distinctly underwhelmed by my budding guns. If you want to flaunt your swimming muscles on this thread I will happily admire them Smile

Swimming is fantastic exercise, good for you! I wish I could do that but I couldn't swim before I developed ms so there's not much chance now!

That’s great, I feel inspired too by your perseverance. I love your tip about keeping your exercise space nice, looking out at birds and listening to a podcast. I am in my 50s, gained 2 stone and feel very unfit, for the first time in my life I find stairs get my heart pounding in an unpleasant way and getting up from the sofa takes effort. You have inspired me to start thinking about what I can do to get stronger. Thanks and really well done, you definitely have some muscle tone I envy.

yourestandingonmyneck · 15/07/2021 13:09

What the hell, there's nothing up with her skin? What is wrong with some people Confused

Knee dents look great OP Grincongrats

BlueFishSwims · 15/07/2021 13:13

Yeah, didn’t get the skin comments, looks good to me.

EssexLioness · 15/07/2021 13:19

Well done OP. You should be really proud of your achievements. I had no idea that this was a thing either but after examining my knees I’m pleased to find I have small dents, and I’m a very untoned weakling! 😂
Your post is really inspiring. I am 43, struggling with peri menopause and was feeling very fat, flabby and old before my time. I have recently lost almost 3 stone, with another still to go. I really need to start exercising to keep the weight off and get some definition. I love your idea about making your environment nice with bird feeders etc. We have a home gym in our summerhouse and I will do the same thing as watching birds/ wildlife is one of my favourite things.

M0rT · 15/07/2021 18:31

@cosmopolitanplease if it's anything like the scd it's a lot of effort!
You should be an instagrammer, people with your determination and consistency should be the influencers in this world!

66babe · 15/07/2021 19:56

Without being too forward ..

That's a fine pair of dents you have there ! And all your own work ...

WithLoveFromMyselfToYourself · 15/07/2021 20:01

Top dents!
Nice fireplace too.
Well done Op looks askance at own knee hummocks

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 16/07/2021 15:40

What's your routine OP for your arms? I'm not in a position to flaunt anything at the moment, but I have been squatting since your inspirational post. Smile

noodlezoodle · 17/07/2021 04:34

Excellent dents, OP. I'm not ashamed to admit that when I'm on top of my exercise I spend a lot of time admiring my biceps in the mirror. Muscles FTW!
