If you could only wear one perfume for the rest of your life.....

What would it be?

For me, Jo Malone's lime, basil and mandarin. I smell it and it immediately takes me back to hot summer holidays in the Caribbean.....

However. If I started this thread in the winter I'd say chanel coco Grin

Which just demonstrates the impossibility of just choosing one perfume forever, doesn't it!

Lancôme la vie est belle. I got loads of compliments when I first wore it, must work with my body chemistry, so it’s now the only one I wear

noblegreenk · 03/07/2021 19:32

Mine would be Noble Leather by YSL. It only got released in 2013 and was discontinued a few years ago. I still have a tiny smidgen left which I use on very special occasions. When I do my husband always says how much he misses the fragrance on me. It reminds him of the weekend he took me away to propose. I feel like the best version of me when I wear it.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/07/2021 19:34

Chanel 19, but really I am not sure I could choose just one…

Mamanyt · 03/07/2021 19:34

Had Love cosmetics not gone under decades ago, I would have worn "Love's Musky Jasmine Flower" cologne forever. However, they are no more. My other, although second favorite, is one I can't afford easily, Estee Lauder's Cinnabar. I adore that.

EBearhug · 03/07/2021 19:37

Laura Ashley No 1 (original formula.) Obviously it's discontinued, so...
Eau de Givenchy
Gucci Bloom is good, too.

I don't really want a single perfume for life, because it's a surefire way of prompting them to discontinue it.

Furries · 03/07/2021 19:42

D&G The One.

I also loved Gucci EdP II - gutted that it was discontinued.

VQ1970 · 03/07/2021 19:42

@AintPageantMaterial

Ysatis de Givenchy

I have worn it for 30 years. It makes me feel 20 again.

That's mine too! I've been wearing it since I was 16 and I'm now 51. Tried a few others but always come back to Ysatis and always have some on my dressing table.
Dora26 · 03/07/2021 19:42

For night Chanel no 5
For day Burren Perfumery “Man of Aran” - think CK one x100.
Does anyone remember Climat by Lancome (70s-80s) would give my right arm for a bottle of that!

Lucia574 · 03/07/2021 19:44

Diptique Philosykos

PatsyJStone · 03/07/2021 19:44

On the subject of storing discontinued perfumes, does anyone know realistically if you store in the box, keep wrapped and unopened, cool place, how long do you think a perfume would keep before being opened and not smelling right?

I have a couple of bottles of my favourite which is discontinued and wonder if to buy some more - as it is still out there.

Pasithea · 03/07/2021 19:45

I have never worn anything except no5 since forever.

Tanfastic · 03/07/2021 19:46

DKNY Woman

custardbear · 03/07/2021 19:48

Mademoiselle coco or Prada Amber

VQ1970 · 03/07/2021 19:49

@ClarasZoo

I would love to be able to get ysatis- would take me back to the 80s!
Yes you can still buy it and it still smells the same. I normally get mine from Boots but you can also get it online

MrsPworkingmummy · 03/07/2021 19:50

Angel by Mugler. Its a scent I've been wearing for 20 years now. However, I'm convinced they've changed the smell. I've bought 3 bottles online over lockdown and they've all lost that musky glamorous smell and are a tad synthetic. Popped to John Lewis to smell the tester and that didn't match the original either.

Kitkat151 · 03/07/2021 19:50

Hugo Boss Intense

Teenytinyratsass · 03/07/2021 19:51

Chanel Chance. It’s not a typical daytime perfume but both the scent and associated memories make me happy.
Lots of good recommendations on this thread that I fancy trying though!

TragicKingdom · 03/07/2021 19:52

Eternity by Calvin Klein. I just love it.

Naaaaah · 03/07/2021 19:52

@BlackSwan

Chanel no 19. Reminds me of kissing dirty men in basement bars in my youth!!

WTF? It's such a clean fragrance.

oh, it's just the association, rather than the actual smell. I adore the smell but I used to spray it on my leather jacket before I went out, so I associate the smell with being young and smokey basement bars.
SlipperFeet · 03/07/2021 19:58

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille.

I really wish benefit would bring back Carmella, my favourite perfume from my early 20s!

MadameOvary81 · 03/07/2021 20:13

@SlipperFeet Sol De Janeiro - Cheirosa is remarkably like Carmella. I've mentioned it several times on perfume threads here. I miss it too, but this is a great substitute. www.lookfantastic.com/brands/sol-de-janeiro/fragrance.list

Armani Si, love it!
