Anyone bought a Mia Tui bag?

I saw them mentioned on here and have looked them up. I'm really tempted by a mini Jen in pebble for travel. I'm going on a couple of city breaks and an over night flight in the autumn 🤞
and I thought it might do the trick.
But my concerns are:
The material- fake vegan leather? No idea what that'll be like
Are they frumpy? I sort of think they are a bit but I need something really practical

I'd love to hear if anyone's opinions experience

My Mum has got several, she seems to really like them.

I will be honest, they're not my taste and look cheap.... probably because they are. But for travel, it's good to have a bag you don't worry about getting wrecked.

Thanks randommonkey123
Looking cheap really does put me off. I do believe that generally you get what you pay for so I suspected there must be something not so great about them

I have one and really like it. It has lots of useful pockets! I don't really think of bags looking cheap or otherwise though. A bag is pretty much just a bag to me. Grin I am baffled by people spending hundreds of pounds on them when they look no nicer than cheaper ones!

I bought some recently for travel and I love them. Look being honest they are not super stylish but they are practical. I recently had to do first flight with my baby and got the Sydney backpack with one of the cross body bags that came free as part of their bundles. Really good value and my god can you fit loads in them, lightweight. The material for me was fine, it’s good enough to pass as acceptable from a distance and I certainly wasn’t embarrassed to be seen with it. I did actually get a couple of ‘nice bag’ comments.

But be realistic- it is not and never will be a luxury handbag. I’d recommend them on balance for moderately stylish but very very practical. Would probably buy another.

Yes I have one which I have used as a lunch bag for quite some time now. It’s been really hard wearing and I chose it as they have a waterproof, wipe clean lining.
The one I had isn’t listed anymore. I don’t think they look cheap but as PPs have said probably not the most stylish.
I’ve been pleased with mine and would buy again too.

poppym12 · 01/07/2021 20:34

i've got a backpack which i use quite a lot and it still looks new. i don't really like using bags so don't spend a lot on them, they're just a boring necessity. i like the fact that they're not leather too.

chutneypig · 01/07/2021 20:40

I have a couple of their bags. I think it’s an Emma I use for work and have done every day for 4 years, it looks new. I like the Maya backpack as well, use that more at the weekends. It’s very practical and holds a water bottle upright as well as having all my bits and pieces to hand.

GenevaLane · 01/07/2021 20:44

Yes, practical. I bought my mum and MIL one each, the one that goes over your suitcase handle - so much easier for them when they are travelling. Having your bag at a height on top of the case is fantastic when trying to manage tickets etc.

RestingPandaFace · 01/07/2021 20:47

I’ve got a backpack one and it’s OK. Looks passable from a distance but up close the material is too thin to be a good imitation of leather.

They are well organised and have good pockets etc. the pebble colour is nice.

Longestfewdaysupcoming · 01/07/2021 20:48

I have two. They’re practical not stylish but I reach for them when I’m travelling or have a long day out planned.

Bagelsandbrie · 01/07/2021 20:51

I have one and love it - I carry a lot of emergency medication around with me including syringes etc and it’s the only bag that has all the pockets I need. But - yeah it’s a bit cheap looking, plasticky sort of and never going to be as nice as a lovely expensive leather bag! But for the price and what I need it for I absolutely love it.

onlyconnect · 01/07/2021 20:52

Thank you everyone. I'm going to think about it. If anyone has any suggestions that are practical and stylish I'd love to hear them.

They are super practical. If they did a leather version they would last better I guess but the colours are good and they are nicely made.

RuthW · 01/07/2021 21:05

I've had a few. The small ones are ok but the large ones are awful.

Hardly any pockets, just removable plastic bags, plastic peels off when heavy things are carried and no outside pockets.

Definitely not as good as they make out.

Wegobshite · 01/07/2021 21:06

As you can see I have umm quite a few maybe 10 as there are a few more in my wardrobe 😂😂
I also have 2 mulberry Bayswater’s and a few other expensive designer bags but for everyday I much prefer the Mia Tui ones

Oh and I’ve had mine over a year and they are still in perfect condition and the customer service is first class

BonnyandPoppy · 01/07/2021 21:16

I have one as I used to fly every weekend and it was great for travelling. It goes over the handle of my suitcase and is the plain black one that they sell as suitable for flight attendants. It still looks new even though it’s very well travelled. Also have a little black one that came free with it and use that as a handbag on holiday but not much in between.

RugratMum · 01/07/2021 21:18

I have a bag from there as my changing bag and it's lasted very well so far. Lots of useful pockets and extremely practical. Comfy to wear all day.

Highly recommend.

BonnyandPoppy · 01/07/2021 21:18

Think I also got a clear bag and a couple of make up/wash bags for free and use them a lot too.

SpeckledyHen · 01/07/2021 21:26

Have you thought about a Longchamp Le Pliage ?

Ellpellwood · 01/07/2021 21:30

Another vote for a Le Pliage. I have 3, plus a backpack. Vegan leather, so soft, etc. etc. is just plastic so I'd rather have canvas if I'm not wanting leather.

Ellpellwood · 01/07/2021 21:33

Brandalley have some cheap: www.brandalley.co.uk/women/brands/longchamp.html

onlyconnect · 01/07/2021 21:49

Ellpellwood and SpeckledyHen, yes I have thought about the Longchamps Pliage. Is it just nylon? I hope to be able to have a close look at one in a shop next week.

I did buy a couple but the bigger one was too floopy for my liking even though it had lots of pockets and the handbag one was great but was too inflexible and the zip kept sliding back if I overloaded it. My kipling bags are still the winners. Though I did buy a fablou for work and it’s amazing and perfect for what I want. If that’s any help?

linerforlife · 01/07/2021 21:56

100% would go longchamp, classy and practical. The Tui ones look cheap and horrible to me when I see them (sorry).
