Where can I get nice A cup bras?

Hi all so I was a 32b for ages but after feeding two babies my bras just look and feel a bit loose. The band fits fine it's just the cups are a bit big. So at a guess I'm down to a 32a. I live rurally so it's not like I can just go and try some on - is likely to be a mail order situation.

So, two questions:
-Your best online bra shopping recommendations for this size please, and
-How does bluebella sizing compare to h and m?

Can I recommend that you try the Boob or Bust method of measuring?
I was very sceptical at first as I thought my bras were fine and they sized me with a much smaller band and bigger cup size than I thought, but when I tried on their suggested size, the results are amazing. Turns out I'm a 34G and not a 36DD after all.

Newdaynewplan · 27/06/2021 16:44

@Newdaynewplan what shops just this method of sizing please?

Surrey don't mean to be funny but at my size if the market there's not much room to get it wrong...

Jeez autocorrect errors galore!

It works basically anywhere because the way that bra bands and cups scale.

Very simply an A means 1 inch difference between the underbust and bust measurements, this isn't all that common, I had very small boobs before breastfeeding and was a 28D according to boob or bust rather than the 32B I was in before.

olderthanyouthink · 27/06/2021 16:51

I had Freya bras in a 28D but they don't all fit because some suit different boob shapes better so Freya Deco was too narrow in the cup but Freya Ardour was perfect. Weirdly now the Deco fits in a bigger size Hmm

IwillrunIwillfly · 27/06/2021 16:52

I was just coming to recommend checking you size with boob or bust as well. There is an online calculator you can check your size and also a Facebook page that is really helpful. Lots of people are sceptical at first but lots of people much more comfortable and better fitted after!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 27/06/2021 16:52

It is always worth measuring yourself before buying new bras & boob or bust is pretty accurate. I like Boux Avenue bras, plenty of different size & styles & they last well.

Newdaynewplan · 27/06/2021 16:53

But @olderthanyouthinkolder if your ten pound h and m 32b fit just fine then why would you go to some specialist retailer to spend extra £ for some 28d?

OP posts:

Because you'd be surprised at how much better a properly fitting bra feels and looks than a guessed size.
You should be able to find cheaper bras in the right size. I'm wearing a 2 for £12 from Tesco bra, looks loads better than my old Tesco one in what I thought was the right size before I measured properly.

Newdaynewplan · 27/06/2021 16:56

Ok ok I'll give it a go Grin

What size clothes do you wear, NewDay?
If the current ones are too big, I'd try a 30B before a 32A - but if you have a tape measure try the boob or bust method. I looked like I'd lost about a stone with a much smaller back and bigger cupped bra.

Branleuse · 27/06/2021 17:03

id imagine you could get a 32a in most shops that sell bras.
I agree with pp that its likely not your actual size, but as you say, if youre comfy in it, then its up to you. I think its more important to get the correct size for bigger boobs that need the support, or if you find them uncomfortable.

As for what A cup bras are nice, surely thats down to your own personal taste?

Id be in bralettes at that size personally

Newdaynewplan · 27/06/2021 17:03

Hmm. 26 DD. Really now...

Newdaynewplan · 27/06/2021 17:06

I wear a size 6...

@Newdaynewplan

I wear a size 6...
Oh crikey you are definitely not a 32!
Janek · 27/06/2021 17:12

Sounds pretty much right tbh:
32a = 30b = 28c = 26d in terms of cup size. And at a size 6 you really don't have a 32 back.

I was in m + s 34c for years, until a John Lewis fitter showed me the light. I am now a 30e - same cup size, but I no longer need to hold my boobs if I run for a bus.

Branleuse · 27/06/2021 17:12

You wont find a 26dd anywhere. a 28c maybe in some shops or a 30b

Janek · 27/06/2021 17:13

My back actually measures 28", but that is punishingly tight and whilst I like support I don't want that much!!!

MyHusbandTheIdiot · 27/06/2021 17:13

Yes you are almost 100% not a 32 - I am 5ft11 and a size 12, and post 2 children and the associated spreading ribcage I am a 32…! 28 sounds much more likely.

pennylane83 · 27/06/2021 17:17

Little Women are good - they cater for AAA to B cup.

Newdaynewplan · 27/06/2021 17:19

@Branleuse yup lol.
So being a size six means a 26 back? Yet you can get a size six anywhere (an 8 when I first started buying adult sizes) but standard bra sizing starts at 32 in those same high Street shops, a back size 12? Is my logic correct here or is something amiss?

OP posts:
carolinesbaby · 27/06/2021 17:19

At a size 6 you are certainly not a size 32.
As a ball-park, dress size plus 20 for your band size so a 26 band sounds about right, but as others have said that will be very hard to find.

carolinesbaby · 27/06/2021 17:20

Boux Avenue do some nice bras in a 28 back, and prices in the £10-15 range as well.
