Could I wear these trainers to work?

I work as an ICU pharmacist in a big busy hospital and we have to wear smart clothes to work. So I usually wear a shirt dress or black cigarette style trousers and a smart shirt/blouse. I currently wear loafers or wedge style shoes but after a long day on my feet they are absolutely killing me! I'm trying to look for smart style trainers that I might get away with at work (my boos is v strict and she has sent staff home in the past for wearing patterned trousers). I wondered about these in the photo. Any opinions? If not any ideas for smart black trainers that look like shoes from a distance would be great thanks.

I couldn't wear those for work but I'm sure they'd be fine in lots of workplaces. We're no trainers and those are definitely trainers.

For your job, yes. They're smart and comfortable.

Have a look at Cole Haan. They do some lovely 'brogues with the comfort of trainers' styles.

Something with a black sole would be less obviously trainers.

I'd imagine you'd look very smart in those along with the outfits you've described. Could you ask if they'd pass muster?

@tbtf yes these are nice. Similar to the shoes I wear already though I wear leather and suede might be more comfy. They are sold out in my size but similar to these could work!

@Classica I think I might do that. They are quite expensive though if she says no.
I think to be fair my boss has mellowed a bit and she prob wouldn't say anything to patterned trousers now.

I wear similar in my healthcare based job. I think you could get away with them if they had a black sole.

A person who tends to be rigid over such issues will probably be flattered you'd asked and therefore say ‘yes’

I’m a hospital doctor and would definitely wear them! They’re a lot smarter than some of the things I usually wear!

You could show the picture to your boss.

I think laceless sneakers look less causal. Would they work? Or those brogues with a sneaker flatform sole? There’s loads of them around.

Personally I’d go for some brogues, with same coloured soles, which are more professional looking, Google soft brogues and you will get some options,

NHS here too. Lots of us wear these: the metallic makes them a bit smarter and the black sole is a bit less trainer-ish

I'm also a pharmacist, although in the community. I just bought these for work and am happy with them. Comfy sole but not as casual as trainers.
