I've acquired a cleavage, is it suitable for a wedding?

I've always been very slim but have hit 40, gained some weight and grown a fine pair of boobs. I've got a wedding to go to in the autumn, have bought a beautiful dress that's fully lined with a boned top section that gives me a cleavage. I've never ever had a cleavage before, I feel very exposed, I actually feel like I might as well be walking around with my boobs fully out. DH says I look lovely. I want to wear the dress but now I'm questioning if it's appropriate to have a cleavage in a church! It's not something I've ever taken notice of before and I suspect I'm being ridiculous but what's the general consensus on this?

I love the dress and it looks amazing on your! I’d wear a knotted black pashmina in church, though. Just to cover them. Then whip it off afterwards and party with my girls.

Lalliella · 31/05/2021 08:46

Don’t wear a wonderbra, they’ll become whoppingly enormous!

Squidthing · 31/05/2021 08:48

You look gorgeous, the dress looks great.

triceratopsmama · 31/05/2021 08:49

@Lowlight282 you look great in that dress. Definitely suitable for a wedding. You'll be amazed at the difference a good bra will make. Not a wonder bra though, as a pp said they will become enormous😂

Spudlet · 31/05/2021 08:53

It’s a beautiful dress, and the norks are entirely wedding-appropriate in it. If they worry you though, you could look for a little jacket to wear during the ceremony - something nipped in at the waist, slightly cropped as well. I’m seeing a little black cropped blazer perhaps. Then take it off for the reception. Old churches can be chilly even on hot days, so if it’s a ceremony in that kind of building you might want an extra layer anyway.

But honestly, you look lovely. I swear there’s a few people on here who wouldn’t be happy with wedding guests wearing anything more than a sack - and even then it had better be a below the knee length sack with a high neck Grin

Namechangeme1 · 31/05/2021 08:53

Those pics are fine and I'm quite conservative! It looks good actually

tabulahrasa · 31/05/2021 08:57

Oh that’s totally fine - I was expecting something much lower cut than that before the pictures.

I agree you want a bra though.

Anydreamwilldo12 · 31/05/2021 09:03

It looks really lovely, perfect for a wedding but I agree with pp's, you need to wear a bra.

Welshywitch · 31/05/2021 09:03

It's a gorgeous dress and you look great. I'd wear it !

Foxglovesandlilacs · 31/05/2021 09:07

You look lovely op! And your boobs look in proportion! You have a lovely figure.Smile

PraiseTheSunshine · 31/05/2021 09:11

It's a lovely dress and you look fabulous in it! Definitely not inappropriate for a wedding. I think the main deciding factor now should be how do you feel in it? If you feel self conscious then I'd probably pick something else, but if you feel great (which you should) then I'd go for it!

ittakes2 · 31/05/2021 09:15

You look lovely, cleavage level is suitable for a wedding. have a great time.

Bimblybomeyelash · 31/05/2021 09:15

You look fab. I understand your worry though, whist breastfeeding I went from a 32A to a 34E and I didn’t know what to do with myself!

IWishIWasABaller · 31/05/2021 09:19

Wow you look absolutely amazing op! Definitely not inappropriate or too booby. Have a wonderful time at the wedding Flowers

ainsisoisje · 31/05/2021 09:20

What a great rack!!! You look gorgeous, I wish mine looked that good!

thisplaceisweird · 31/05/2021 09:20

It's stunning OP! Ignore the prudes

More than appropriate and absolutely gorgeous. Wear it with pride, shoulders back!

Cloudhopping · 31/05/2021 09:20

You look fab Op. The problem with big boobs is that in any smart dress if you try and cover them up, they look even bigger! Honestly, you look lovely.

Friendofdennis · 31/05/2021 09:29

You look lovely. And you have beautiful skin. If I was to wear that dress I would probably wear a necklace to fill in some of the exposed area.

Lowlight282 · 31/05/2021 09:34

Thanks everyone, you've given me the confidence to go for it but I will go and have a proper bra fitting and I'll take the dress too, I need to do that anyway-im usually just in a sports bra and t shirt, think I need to embrace the breasts and enjoy them while they're here! Necklace and pashmina, as a pp said churches can be quite chilly.

Many thanks. I'm going to ask MN to delete this now.

Lovely dress and great rack, OP Grin. The fluttery sleeves offset the low neck and the full skirt balances the top half nicely. If you are concerned about anyone’s sensibilities in church, just bring a lovely shawl or pashmina (and churches can be cold). So, hat? Shoes?

Lowlight282 · 31/05/2021 09:38

I've ordered some navy heels and box clutch (the dress is navy, I know it looks black in the pics) and I'd like to try and find a hat to match the flowers if I can.

You look absolutely beautiful. I hope you have a lovely time at the wedding!

Suffolkpunch345 · 31/05/2021 09:54

I think it looks great, but if you will feel uncomfortable then don’t wear it as you won’t enjoy the day.

MrsMaizel · 31/05/2021 09:57

This kind of cleavage is not flattering to anyone . It's a bit Lorraine Kelly . You need a balcony bra which lifts them up as opposed to squeezing them together with that line down the middle . It's very old womany.

Lowlight282 · 31/05/2021 10:05

Aww poor Lorraine Kelly 😆 hopefully the new bra will help me out!
