Minimiser bras - very impressed!

I think I am addicted to being able to now wear low cut tops without OTT cleavage and high necked tops without the matronly look. Anyone else marvelling at these magical bras?

I think it depends on the shape it gives you. I have one from M&S and it effectively pushed my breasts sideways under my armpits and makes me look wider. I actually prefer a completely non padded t shirt bra which just holds them in the right place without extra bulk, not easy to get though

Beachlovingirl · 22/05/2021 20:23

I know what you mean. Because my boobs are like so central and squashed up front so this means they are shifted to a nicer looking position. It’s hard to describe even balconette bras don’t separate mine!

I always wanted that no cleavage look where you can wear a shirt with a few buttons undone and there literally isn’t any “cleavage”. So this bra means I can now do this. It’s liberating :-)

Which bra are you talking about?

Beachlovingirl · 22/05/2021 20:39

This is the one I got but I have a feeling there could be better ones, this is just my first dip into the minimiser world

Each to their own, but l can’t imagine why anyone would want one. I’m proud to be well endowed. 🙂

BoodlesPoodle · 23/05/2021 05:50

It’s not about pride/shame. I have a minimiser bra - definitely changes my shape to be less matronly under high necked tops. Worth a try to experiment with what you have and feel the most confident about how you look.

I'm struggling to understand why you would want to do this Confused

I have never had a cleavage, not even when I was pregnant. The flat chested look is not a good look IMO. Make the most of your curves.

bigfloweryblouse · 23/05/2021 06:58

I love the triumph minimiser bras - they give you such a great shape. I'm 34E and 50 years old and I'm not looking saggy yet! Highly recommended

Eminybob · 23/05/2021 07:07

I was very excited to click that link, a decent minimiser for me is like the holy grail. But sadly they don’t go up to a G cup Sad

Beachlovingirl · 23/05/2021 09:01

I think it’s a grass is greener thing. So if I wore a top that was even slightly low cut where other people would look amazing in it and stylish I would look like I was showing off “the girls”.

If I had perhaps a bigger back size then maybe they would have more space to sit and so they not be always right there all the time? Dunno it’s always been the same for me. I’ve also got a small frame so I always look top heavy.

The minimiser apparently brings me down by 1 cup size and honestly it’s such a different I feel much more in proportion now.

@Eminybob oh that’s a shame. To be honest I would probably be best with a 30 back size but only starts at 32 Sad

I bought a lovely dress the other day, but will have to do a bit of sewing to raise the height of the top and make the material look less baggy in the bust area.

I have found one M&S minimiser that doesn't do the push you sideways thing:

Branleuse · 23/05/2021 11:35

doesnt seem to come in many sizes.

mrsrhodgilbert · 23/05/2021 15:01

pinkearedcow thank you. It looks ok on the model and at least M&S have opened their fitting rooms at last. My other criteria though is usually no lace or seams to get a completely invisible look. I love a lace bra but they can usually be seen through fabric so I don’t always want to wear one. Smooth, underwired with no seams which just keep me pointing forwards is all I ask for but it’s not easy to find in an F cup.

Unless you've had big boobs, of course you're not going to understand the downsides of them, but trust me, lots of women would rather they didn't have them. Don't tell busty women to make the most of our curves and we won't tell you to make the most of being flat chested! Grin I'd happily not have a cleavage (but I understand that women who don't have one might want one!).

lindyloo57 · 23/05/2021 16:44

I understand both arguments I've been both, think AA cup hardly any boob, had a boob job i just wanted to look natural and a bit bigger went to a D, a bit bigger now say DD with a little weight gain, love the size wouldn't want to go any bigger. We all like different sizes

Blondiney · 24/05/2021 15:20

I bought one based on the OP's recommendation. It's bloody fabulous, gives a nice neat shape without splaying them East and West. I'm about to order a couple more. Thank you @Beachlovingirl Flowers

Amazon has more sizes than the Triumph website, weirdly. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002NLVQX4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

Beachlovingirl · 24/05/2021 16:07

@Blondiney that’s great! And also thanks for the Amazon link I think I’ll get a few more in different colours Smile

I'm completely confused by the Triumph site Confused

Their largest minimiser bra is an F cup - I'm an H/J Grin if I was an F I wouldn't bother minimising ...

Cocolapew · 24/05/2021 16:35

I got one from a catalogue and liked it do much got 4 more! I haven't been able to wear underwired bras without them digging in me.
These are so comfy and give me a better shape.

JMAngel1 · 25/05/2021 16:33

With the Triumph one, how could you wear a shirt with loads of buttons open as the fabric at the very front of the bra is really deep? Surely the bra shows with lots of buttons left open?

Beachlovingirl · 25/05/2021 20:50

@JMAngel1 I know what you mean. But because I bought the black one it’s like it doesn’t look like a bra as it’s not all lacey and with there’s no bow and only when I’m sat or something do you see the bra. It doesn’t even look like a bra so I have been able to get away with it. Mostly there is just a nice v and without there being all this cleavage everywhere it works for me.

Blondiney · 25/05/2021 22:22

The Gossard Glossies aren't technically minimisers but they totally hold my close set boobs apart giving that zero cleavage look. They're fairly low cut so you can do the unbutton shirt thing with them.

Haha, mine are the opposite, spaced apart so even push together bras don't make mine squash together in a cleavage!

Because big boobs can make one look fatter. I used to have nice pert C cups. I could wear spaghetti strap tops and pretty little bras. Now I have matronly E cups Everything has to be big enough to accommodate them I hate it.
