I desperately need a new hairdryer & im not really thinking that a dyson is in my price bracket despite my salon saying its fab.Ive heard parlux recommended before but what are your thoughts?

I have a Remington Hydra Luxe Pro and I absolutely love it. It leaves my fine hair super shiny and smooth. I also love that the cold setting is genuinely cold so I'll be able to use it during a heatwave.

piefacedClique · 18/05/2021 22:38

Parlux!

whiteroseredrose · 19/05/2021 00:03

DD also has Parlux at our hairdresser's recommendation

Malteser71 · 19/05/2021 00:11

I’ve got a dyson and a Parlux.

Prefer the dyson. You need to remove the fluff otherwise it becomes inefficient.

I use the Parlux on my dog now

TheCraicDealer · 19/05/2021 00:14

I've had two parlux and a Diva (?), all died on me after about two years of use. Different plug sockets, I only have fine hair which is washed every other day and they certainly weren't mistreated in any way, so I can't explain it! The results were pretty decent though, to be fair.

I have a tresemme one atm which is shit, but tbh one of the best ones I've ever used is the £12.99 2200w model from Boots' own brand which I borrow when staying with my MIL.

Diva ultimata 5000. Dries my long thick hair in under 5mins. I’ve had it for over 3 years and it’s still going strong. Cheaper than parlux, too:

what parlux model is best !

I've got the parlux alyon.

I can't compare it to any others in the range I'm afraid. I bought it by comparing the settings to my ancient babyliss but wanting a lighter, smaller hairdryer that was more powerful to cut down drying time. I'm really happy with it.

Acovic · 19/05/2021 12:08

Parlux.

I have an alyon3 and really love it.

My hairdresser picked it after she spent time teaching me how to do a reasonable blow dry.

jugOFpimms · 19/05/2021 14:22

@Acovic got any tips to share on a reasonable blow dry !

I have a parlux and a Dyson air wrap set.

I think it depends on what you want to do and what kind of hair you have.

Parlux is absolutely the best hairdryer though.

dontgobaconmyheart · 21/05/2021 08:45

Watching with interest as I have a dyson and hate it. Worst thing I've ever spent heavily on. I used it for about a week before swapping back to my old dryer (which I wasn't totally happy with, but was still miles better, a babyliss 3Q).

The dyson was slow to dry, left my hair so tangled that I was damaging it trying to brush it out, and left it looking a strange flat texture. Shame because it does look nice as a piece of kit and I will say I did love how quiet it was.

PegasusReturns · 21/05/2021 08:47

I’ve used a babyliss hairdryer all my life. Last year I got a dyson. The difference is phenomenal. I really had no idea a hairdryer could make so much difference.

My hair is smooth and shiny with no really effort. I certainly don’t have to attempt to “blow dry” it.

NeedWineNow · 21/05/2021 08:56

My hairdresser uses the ETI Turbo 3200. I've been really impressed with it so she ordered one for me. Cost around £50, but I like it better than the GHD one I had. It's slightly heavier than the GHD but a small price to pay.

MonkeyGoneToHeaven · 21/05/2021 10:45

I will be the voice of dissent - I don't like my Parlux. It makes my hair fluffy. I still use the cheap hairdryer that the Parlux was supposed to replace, three years ago!

pommedeterre · 21/05/2021 11:17

I love my Dyson. I have lots of hair that normally takes ages to dry.

I either do a quick 5 min rough dry which leaves me at 90% dry and straight and not frizzy but still a lot of volume and better the next morning or a longer 10 - 15 minute proper blow dry (sections and a brush) which looks better than using my ghds.
