Thanks for the dress love.

Ooooh which boots are they @Justonedayatatime11 ?

I have the Bota Kate and the Bota Kate Urbana from a few years ago

Justonedayatatime11 · 21/06/2021 14:58

@KiteflyingKat they are the maxi waterproof boots. I only ordered them last week and expected to wait a month so i shrieked at the poor FedEx man this morning Grin

Shannith · 21/06/2021 15:04

@KiteflyingKat that dress looks fabulous on you. It's perfect and if I saw you in it you'd make my "best dressed person" list. You look slim, groomed and stylish.

Late 20s/early 30s I don't think I worse anything that wasn't skin tight - with 3 inch stilettos. Because, fuck it - why the hell not.

You still can, I know you think you look different but you still absolutely can if you want you most certainly have the figure for it. But for me, with age (and DD and post menopause) has come a different kind of fuck it. I like to be comfy and confident and quite frankly scruffy most of the time.

Shannith · 21/06/2021 15:12

@EllaPaella

That dress looks absolutely lovely on you *@KiteflyingKat* I spent most of my teens and 20's being so stressed over the fact that I wanted a flat stomach (i've never had a flat stomach since I was 11!). I am slim and I appreciate these days that I have a nice figure and I am grateful for that. But to get that flat stomach I had to seriously deprive myself of certain foods (I spent years being way over disciplined about food) and spend a lot of time doing serious work outs. Once I got a bit older I began to ask myself who was I doing all that for? Why do I need a flat stomach? Does it make me happy? I am 42 now and for the last 10 years I eat what I want (in moderation) and exercise because I enjoy it. I run, walk, do yoga, skate but I don't go to the gym and do sit ups etc because quite frankly I find that really boring. I think my point in this long ramble is that getting a bit older is actually quite liberating as I let go of that angst about looking perfect and just excepted my body for the wonderful miraculous thing it is, loose tummy and all. I also had a major health scare a few years back that make me grateful for my health and for getting older and every year that passes. I agree that stylish certainly doesn't equate to being slim, skinny whatever. Anyhow.. you look fabulous in that dress and have an absolutely cracking figure. I am glad you are feeling more confident.
Absolutely everything @EllaPaella said with bells on. Excellent words of wisdom.

I'm 46 and a late convert to low key yoga. I do it because 1. I am vain but mostly 2. because I want to be able to ride effectively and I couldn't as too creaky. And I want to pretend I'm still 28 despite all evidence to the contrary.

I do sit ups but yoga ones (Adrienne core) which I started doing because it's not possible to stop my mare using brute strength.

Shannith · 21/06/2021 15:16

@Sooverthemill you are making me want them. I don't need them. But they look so lovely on you.

@Justonedayatatime11 those boots are fabulous.

Now proper boots do come under the remit of things I actually need. And comfy you say? I can't justify fairfax and favour much as I lust after then because I do actually live in the (semi) countryside. Do you think they would cope with mud?

Justonedayatatime11 · 21/06/2021 15:25

@Shannith yes to standing up to mud. What size boot are you?

Shannith · 21/06/2021 16:21

Size 6 or really 5 1/2 but I wear thick socks.

Justonedayatatime11 · 21/06/2021 16:25

@Shannith I've pm'd you

PalacePaper · 21/06/2021 16:59

Absolutely love those boots @Justonedayatatime11

Your dress looks great @KiteflyingKat

It's cold here and now drizzly - I'm firmly (and happily) back in loungewear - ie the closest things I own to PJs that aren't actually PJs Smile

Joggers - hush
Sweatshirt - John Lewis
Trainer socks - Amazon, recommended on another thread and they're great

Hello. I’m late posting because I’ve been in the office. After making myself as much of a PITA as possible I now have a hot desk setup that is workable.

Bloody arctic aircon though. So I’m definitely not in summery clothes.

Top: Boden
Jumpsuit: Whistles
Trainers: Mint Velvet

Greyhairwarmheart · 21/06/2021 19:17

Glad you got the hot desk sorted @OublietteBravo. Great dress @KiteflyingKat. I'm avoiding wearing clothes that are tight across my middle at the moment as I've developed a little pot belly. I haven't decided whether to just throw the clothes out or not yet. Top crew clothing, trousers next.

Softpebbles · 21/06/2021 19:19

@Justonedayatatime11 wow they look amazing, it was me that was looking at them.

Size wise how are they? I am a 6.5, sometimes a 6, occasionally a 7! 🤦‍♀️

Justonedayatatime11 · 21/06/2021 19:23

@Softpebbles I went for the maxi version because I have chunky calves Hmm. I'm a 5 and ordered in my normal size and they fit like a glove. Half the price of Explorers and absolutely identical. They also come with a pot of leather cream. Going to remove the standard tassels and replace with F&F ones!

Sooverthemill · 21/06/2021 19:45

@Shannith my dungarees? I highly recommend. Until a year ago I hadn't worn since 1979. And I'm loving them again! I now have 3 pairs. And I so agree with everyone about wearing what you want and trying to be thankful for the body you have. Our bodies do amazing things ( babies for example) and I know that after I recovered from cancer in 2013 I decided I just needed to be more caring towards mine, yoga is my lifeline and just trying to eat food to,keep me healthy most of the time.

Sickoffamilydrama · 21/06/2021 21:37

Oh @Justonedayatatime11 how waterproof are they like standing in a river waterproof yes I do actually have to do this with DS we go on adventures? & How bouncy is the sole? Sorry for the multiple questions, My knee joint has really flared up recently and I need cushioning.

Freezing today no chance of anyone seeing how creased my jumper is as actually spent the day with this cardi wrapped around me ❄️❄️❄️

Hoping it warms up enough to put on a tee. Waterproof sandals for the endless trips to outdoor fridge cupboard with Tesco shop.
I’ve made £800 selling old stuff on eBay in last couple of months. To celebrate I bought a hand clothes steamer! I know how to party! Thoroughly recommend it, I load around 5 things a day on the app and it’s easy!
Jumper: hush
Jeans: boyish
Sandals: Birkenstock’s
Also have Sézane Astro tee on hand!

I seem to have slipped back into not bothering with office wear. I blame the unseasonable weather - it was so cold overnight that our heating came on.

Jumper: Boden
Jeans: Jigsaw
Trainers: Jigsaw

I’ve been thinking about your comments @KiteflyingKat. I’m also aware that my body shape has changed - especially over the past few years (I’m 45). But that isn’t the sole reason that I wear fewer tight clothes. Fashions have changed too - if my wardrobe had remained skinny jeans and bodycon dresses/tops, then I think I’d look quite dated. So my change in outfit style isn’t just driven by being a different shape. If I’d been this size/shape 10 years ago then I’d probably still have worn tighter clothing. Equally if I still had the figure I had 10 years ago then I’d probably still be wearing looser clothing. Anyway, just some musings. I loved the style of your dress from yesterday. And I definitely agree that being stylish isn’t linked to being tiny. Nor should it be!

Justonedayatatime11 · 22/06/2021 09:26

@Sickoffamilydrama yes to the standing in water (and splashing). Very bouncy inside, they are incredibly comfortable. I cut off the Valverde tassels last night and replaced them with fuschia F&F ones, I'm very pleased!

zigzagaway · 22/06/2021 10:55

Just picking up on some of the comments around body shape, I have certainly noticed a change (am 47) and it's not welcomed however, I know that I am far more critical of myself than I am of anyone else so I try to be kind when I look in the mirror.

Jeans - next
Top - DP
Sandals - No idea but they are not Birkenstock's and the toe post rubs!

I've just bought some mom jeans. Feels weird after so many years of skinny ones!

Spent all day in joggers, had a bloody awful
Migraine which woke me at 2.30am and has been coming back every time painkillers wear off. Actually took the day off which is a very rare occurrence for me and tried to rest as much as possible. Still feeling rubbish and terrible brain fog, can't concentrate much on anything. Beautiful weather here today though, just having a cup of tea in the garden now to get some fresh air.
