Shoes for plantar fasciitis and a summer dress

Recorditnow · 02/05/2021 12:18

Asking the earth here. I have, for the first time, bought myself a summer dress - I'm trying to shake up my wardrobe, and have avoided them before due to my chunky legs. I need some summer shoes to go with it, but have terrible plantar fasciitis which rules out a lot, and fairly wide feet and don't do heels. I also need to walk a fair bit in my job.

I've had a quick look at fit flop, but can't decide.

Do you lovely lot have any suggestions that won't break the bank?

These came up on a search for suitable shoes A-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--9519d84b43ac3d9c8270bd146d12d0354426cc58,ed94bf7b-df0c-4cf5-90ad-418fa328852b,orderstatuspage

Look at Vionic for shoes and sandals. They're not cheap cheap, but they're brilliantly comfortable for PF.

greyinganddecaying · 02/05/2021 15:20

Also look at heavenly feet shoes - they're all I wear these days

Recorditnow · 02/05/2021 16:18

Thanks for the suggestions. Are heavenly feet part of Pavers?

MBTs (Masai barefoot technology) are really great for PF. I got mine in a sale (from backinaction.co.uk - wear them all the time so totally worth it). Really make a difference to me

OinkBalloon · 02/05/2021 16:32

I've been looking at this brand for PF-friendly footwear. No idea if it's any good, and was about to start a thread asking! I have a lovely pair of Birkenstock sandals, but wanted something without a toe-post and that did not look like something my granny would wear.

Don't know if they're part of pavers, but this is their website: https://www.heavenlyfeet.co.uk]

I think the ones I've got are Taormina. I've practically lived in them for the past two summers, only wearing my prescription orthotics a couple of times a week.

I like the look of Kumba, but I want a fun colour rather than a practical one. I also like the look of Blanca, but I think the ankle strap will shorten my already shutter and chunky legs. Also I find that a more traditional ankle strap (like on Kumba and Tairmina) is better for my PF.

UndeadSlut · 02/05/2021 16:56

I have PF and SWEAR by my fit flops. They do a million different styles so you'll be able to find something that goes with your dress. They also have sales quite frequently so should be able to get a bargain.

Recorditnow · 02/05/2021 17:15

@OinkBalloon I need a strap too, I must walk in an odd way as I can't keep mules etc on my feet.

Nothing flat, you want something supportive like a trainer or walking sandal.

SanFranBear · 02/05/2021 17:19

Sounds odd but go with me...

Crocs Flip Flops!

They have a thick, spongy bottom and are very forgiving. I also have plantar fasciitis and mine definitely don't aggravate it!

redcandlelight · 02/05/2021 17:23

birkenstock or similar sandals
gabor

SOLINVICTUS · 02/05/2021 17:25

Fitflop Rally sneakers look great with everything and cured my PF

ChubbyLittleManInACampervan · 02/05/2021 17:26

I have plantar fasciitis in and off and Vionjc insoles are good, as are fitflop

Their closed toe sandals (cova) or knitted trainers are great imo

MusicMenu · 02/05/2021 17:28

Trainers. It seems to be the accepted footwear with summer dresses now.

I have Croc flip flops too. They are really comfortable. I have wide feet and have had PF in the past. I usually wear Birkenstocks but the Crocs are good as a lighter/beach option.
FourEyesGood · 02/05/2021 19:56

I can’t wear anything other than FitFlop shoes and sandals now (I’ve had PF for about three years, but it’s much more manageable now). I tried Skechers but they didn’t help at all. My heel hurts when I even think about wearing my old Birkenstocks - which is sad, because I loved them. But FitFlops have sorted me out and they’re not hideous.

Fififi17 · 02/05/2021 21:10

Hi these are for me the best for plantar fasciitis not the most stylish but I have had about four pairs from oofos and they instantly take the pain away.

I have also used fit flop trainers and they help. Good luck it is literally such a pain.

Lilsoph · 02/05/2021 22:41

I suffered with PF a number of years ago.NHS foot clinic gave me a pair of insoles which were great. I then found them on amazon - slimflex green insoles, currently only £6.99 a pair. I bought several and used them in all my shoes - fantastic! In the summer i wore fit flop sandals but not toes posts. Haven't suffered with PF since. My husband recently complained about a sore foot - got him a pair of the green slimflex insoles which have greatly relieved the pain. Lots of costly insoles but these have worked for both of us.

Recorditnow · 02/05/2021 22:54

Thanks all. I'm going to look at Fit Flop first and work my way through the other suggestions.

Another vote for fitflop from me! I developed PF after a complicated leg break and multiple reconstruction surgeries. A friend suggested fitflops as I couldn’t find any footwear that helped and they have been life changing! Even have fitflop slippers now 🤣
