Genuinely interested - this is a woman who was on the tv in the late 90s, never been more than a size 6 and rarely leaves Kensington.
I’m 35 years old, two kids, my friends and I shop anywhere from Reiss to Pretty Little Thing. Tbh we shop at the same places as my 40+ year old colleague and my older friends teenage children- there are no longer shops per age only budgets.
I’m baffled as to who on bbc breakfast thought she would resonate with the tv audience - it pretty much sums up why place like marks and Spencer’s can’t shift clothes.
Am I wrong, does she still hold gravitas in the style world?

Everyone her apart from you, beguiling, or so it seems, knows who she is and who she is dating. Not being aware of her, you'd not be influenced by her.

13579db · 22/04/2021 14:48

She stresses me out

Prefer laid back celebs, think Sophie Dahl/Kate Moss. I think trinity must've had training in the hard sale technique, where you talk at your potential customer or client rather than listen to them and work backwards from their starting point

13579db · 22/04/2021 14:48

*Trinny not trinityHmm

13579db · 22/04/2021 14:52

And yes like another poster I'm also concerned sometimes if she's actually ok in her private life living with someone who has a tendency to abuse women/grab their throat at a restaurant and get papped doing it. Everyone knows what Charles did to Nigella don't they?

Maybe Trinny means well but has a lot of nervous energy and it comes across as speedy/urgent/you must buy this dress

Yellowhighheels · 22/04/2021 14:56

I like her videos that always seem to come up on Instagram and Facebook. They're a kind of posh, jolly escapism. Friday twinning with Chloe who is a different shape- probably about a 14 with a big bust- is good. Her figure is probably more similar to a lot of women than super tall and slim. They show how to make reasonably priced outfits look good on both builds which is useful. I like her fashion knowledge as well as eye for proportion and colour. I think she encourages a bit of creativity and directionality as well as finding the right fit etc. which to me is a lot more fun than the usual boring advice in magazines and on TV. And props to her for persevering with the dress over trousers look!

BikeRunSki · 22/04/2021 15:02

Trining and Susannah (just as glam, not as skinny) were huge in TV in the 2000s. As someone who was a young adult then, and an older, fatter adult now, yes, Trinny still resonates with me, although I don’t watch breakfast TV.

blisstwins · 22/04/2021 15:04

I really enjoy her youtube channel. I think she is a nut and gets very bad work done, but she is bold and I like her insights.

JMAngel1 · 22/04/2021 15:58

I love her - could watch her for hours (and have).
She is incredibly vulnerable and discloses so much helpful information.
She is also so sweet on her Trinny Takeover series on YT to her guinea pigs - they look amazing afterwards and most importantly feel amazing and empowered by her coaching/mentorship.

Susannah is very far from glam now. I follow her on Istagram too. She has no interest in clothes at all.

anyoldtime · 22/04/2021 16:51

Does she have any credentials?
I can't associate with these upper mc wannabes

What on earth does this mean? Was she a supermodel? Fashion designer?

She and Susannah have several books in their names which sold over 3 million copies, were number one on the Sunday Times and New York Times bestsellers lists, have had years of tv programmes broadcast in over 30 countries, was nominated for a BAFTA, wrote a fashion column for the Telegraph, worked on the Oprah Winfrey show as a fashion expert, and now has her own brand of make up.

Your disparaging remark is downright ridiculous.

Gwenhwyfar · 22/04/2021 16:56

"Oh, I don't know, I'd certainly find two women telling me I looked like crap and grabbing my tits without permission for the telly rather humiliating."

I'd find someone telling me I look wonderful when I clearly don't just as bad.
The groping I don't approve of whether it's T&S or Gok.

Gwenhwyfar · 22/04/2021 16:58

"What do you mean by "lately". Dressing to flatter your figure was a much bigger idea decades ago than it is now.
Do you think so? That's not my recollection at all. I guess I was thinking about threads on here over the last couple of years: there seem to be far more 'I'd love to wear xx but I can't because of y' than there used to be."

I seem to remember 90s magazines having lots of articles on which clothes suited which body size. Now, if you don't like your body or face, you can have an operation to change it. A few decades ago, there was more emphasis on what was flattering imo.

wigjuice · 22/04/2021 17:03

I watch her stuff on fb sometimes, she is rather engaging and seems knowledgeable to someone who has spent most of my time in big boots and leggings.

somewheresorted · 22/04/2021 17:09

Couldn’t agree more beguilingeyes!

Was she a fashion designer, qualified at college, from the fashion world. Or a bit of a Victoria Beckham, hardly a ridiculous question. I remember the tv programmes they were so out of touch with what people would wear or afford round here, all very high end stuff. Do they dress their victims from Primark, that would be beneficial to wc people.
PawBlimey · 22/04/2021 17:15

If you overdo it on Botox and fillers and then sell mousturiser ‘look how great this is for wrinkles!’ or lipstick ‘look at my gorgeous pout’...I think it’s extremely cheeky, yes.

Gwenhwyfar · 22/04/2021 17:18

Same with Gok Wan. He'd take women from ordinary towns and put them in 50s dresses. As if they could walk down their local high street like that.

SpringCleanDiva · 22/04/2021 17:20

I used to find her annoying, but she has massively grown on me. I know she has had lots of work done, but TBH I have a lot of friends who are 45 -55 and they look as good or better than her so it is not unheard of that a woman that age can look good.

I like her makeup range. It is actually rather good. She resonates with me because she is funny and direct. I actually have a few friends that remind me of her. A right laugh, who will tell you how it is after a couple of gins and tell you that you are important and not just there for everyone's else's benefit.

Mistressinthetulips · 22/04/2021 17:26

I enjoyed WNTW back in the day and often thought about their dressing-to-suit-your-shape advice when watching the trends for skinny jeans/flared jeans/mom jeans come and go. What is fashionable isn't always what actually flatters you.

anyoldtime · 22/04/2021 17:50

They dressed people from Zara which is just about a step up from Primark. Nowadays all her shopping hauls are from Zara. When she went shopping precovid, she always used Zara because it is international and because of its affordability.
Secondly their 'victims' were nominated (and if chosen gave consent) or applied to be dressed by them.

Your comments hold no foundation at all.

If you actually watch her do her make up though, she often points out her lines and then uses a product to soften them. Not sure what’s dishonest or wrong about that. She is v honest about wrinkles, redness etc
DrinkFeckArseGirls · 22/04/2021 18:31

She doesnt sell moisturisers though. Just make up, PawBlimey.

Ilovelove · 22/04/2021 22:03

I love her.
Here are my reasons:
-She works very very hard
-She has clearly leveraged everything she has got and had to pivot in new directions eg create a very successful makeup line

  • She is knowledgeable
  • she surrounds herself with ‘bright young things’ which shows me she champions women and creativity
  • She has amazing energy that makes me smile and feel uplifted
  • Her make-up is truly brilliant and makes me glow!!
  • Do I suit/like her style - No because I more of a Susannah figure BUT I appreciate that Trinny has a style and point of view

I am not Trinny and I don’t work for her. I didn’t realise I was such a fan until I wrote my list!!

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 23/04/2021 06:43

Susannah had a drink problem didn't she? Might have taken its toll on her.

Arbadacarba · 23/04/2021 07:09

I'll take advice from anyone - then decide whether to follow it. I don't care at all about being fashionable but I'm always on the look out for different styles that might be flattering.
