Fed up being told I look tired

I’ve got genetic dark circles and hollows under my eyes and there’s not much I can do.
I’ve tried under eye filler, which hardly touched the sides and have every concealer known to woman.
I’m 55, slim, healthy and at my wits end. Are there any magic solutions please?

Same here!

Will follow for inspiration.

The only thing I’ve found that makes me look vaguely human is a bit of fake tan.

Choccyaddict4eva · 20/04/2021 19:31

You need a heavy duty concealer. I use one by ELF as I have the same problem, I find it’s really good. I do add on another thin layer after the first one has dried though as I need the coverage. Clinique’s concealer used to be amazing but they changed the formula and the consistency is quite ‘thin’ now

Choccyaddict4eva · 20/04/2021 19:33

Also fake tan on my face sometimes in the winter! And after applying my concealer I bronze my entire face with a matte bronzer, and then apply a more shimmery bronze to my cheekbones. Makes me look a bit more healthy.

I find a warm toned cream blusher helps. The red tones seem to neutralise the blueish tinge of my circles. Under concealer or mixed with concealer.

5128gap · 20/04/2021 19:36

Sorry should clarify, blusher applied to the circles.

ILoveShula · 20/04/2021 20:21

Copper or bronze eyeliner helps , as does a bit of bronzer/blusher around the temples.

You want a corrector not a concealer.

If its actually hollows under your eye- no face creams or makeup can touch it. The only thing that works is tear trough fillers. I now have them once a year and I feel like skipping out of the room afterwards with joy at how refreshed, and so much prettier/younger I look. You need to find someone who really specialises in it, can see lots of their before/after images from real people- not girls with trout pouts who do random beauty injectables as a side business from their flat.
Be prepared to spend around £800+. To me its totally worth it as if you have serious under eye hollows I know it becomes a point of obsession, constantly checking your reflection in different light/paranoid others are staring/ comparing your eye bags to other peoples/ feeling so depressed at how knackered and haggard you look.... if you want my amazing lady PM me.

But stop wasting money on anything else - it just doesn't work!

Following for ideas.

30 and have spent my whole life being told I look tired.

Considering tear trough fillers, but worried I'll spend £££ and it'll wear off after 6 months.

ILoveShula · 20/04/2021 20:29

Who tells you that you look tired? Could you ask them if they realised it wasn't kind?

CarmelBeach · 20/04/2021 20:33

Same here, hollows rather than circles

Too scared to have tear trough fillers I think they're called, so thought the Pollyfilla of concealers might help but in reality, I think it helps for photos but not in real life. Looking for ideas.

How does this work please?

I can't get eyeliner to stay on and I'm allergic to primer, can't even put foundation or powder on lids because they itch so much.

Cocolapew · 20/04/2021 20:40

I'm the same, I definitely look better with tan. I use Superdrug water spray tan.
I also can't wear any grey based or red based eyeshadow. I usually wear brown ones and have to make sure there's no red undertones in it.
I worked with someone who told me I looked tired every day, she was a friend Hmm in the end I started saying I'm not but thanks for pointing out you think I look shit and she eventually stopped.

I have genetic dark circles that nothing in this world will shift/cover. However, I have found that face yoga (youtube!) has made the rest of my face brighter and a bit better toned. As has quitting salt, weirdly. Try the face yoga? nothing to lose?

ILoveShula · 20/04/2021 21:00

I think it makes the whites look whiter. I put it on under my lower lashes and it stays on ok. I think it's a Rimmel waterproof one or it might be Essence, I got it in Wilko bargain bin. You'd expect it to make your eyes look sore but it doesn't.

I rarely put anything on my eyelids or eyelashes.

With the blusher I just brush a little bit on my temples. I normally go for a peachy sort of blusher colour. I probably learn that one from Jackie a few decades ago Smile

Littleguggi · 20/04/2021 21:00

I know someone said it above but I would also suggest a colour corrector, I think it's green you need but best to check first! Followed by a good coverage concealer

ILoveShula · 20/04/2021 21:04

The green corrector is for redness.
Depending on your skin tone use a pink or peach corrector.

ILoveShula · 20/04/2021 21:05

or yellow.

Eilethya · 20/04/2021 21:07

Lower eyelid Blepharoplasty can be done to get rid of dark circles under eyes.

I've considered it for my upper eyelids to get rid of my flappy over bags!

Probs get it done for under 3.5k depending on location.

When I did yoga daily, I made the sort of unfortunate discovery that the poses that increase blood pressure make me glow.

I had a couple of weeks of looking great but wondering why I felt so wired. Not a great risk to take at middle age, sadly.

Intravenouslatteplease · 20/04/2021 23:16

Face yoga is literally just a few self massages on your own face, just the jowls, temples forehead and the like. I just do it while the baby's napping and I'm tidying up. It's not full on yoga

Oh I do that to help prevent teeth grinding

It doesn't give me the yoga glow
Aka high blood pressure glow 😂

wingsnthat · 20/04/2021 23:22

Filler didn’t work?

Tbh there’s not much you can do, as those features do make people look tired and like they’re not taking care of themselves. Hopefully the stigma changes. Until then, it’s just one of those things. Maybe focus on improving the rest of your skin, hair etc so you don’t overall look “unhealthy”

MarmaladeBumpkin · 20/04/2021 23:25

It's so frustrating isn't it, I hate that looking tired seems to be what people notice first about me. I can't get good results with concealer either. I find I have to make up my eyes properly in order to distract from the under eye circles and make my eyes - rather than the circles- the dominant feature. I think wearing dark/thicker rimmed specs can also help a bit by looking darker/more prominent than the circles
