Feet help requested! Creams or treatments?

Hello S&B

A bit grim but: I have horribly dry feet. The heels and ball get so hard and sometimes flake - it’s really grim. Nice toes though!

I live in a hot country and am in sandals most of the time. But bar getting a pedicure or filing my feet every single day, I’m a bit stumped as to how to make my feet look better!

Have you used any magic product to improve hard dry feet? I’m all ears!

Thanks

When I say hard: like, a thick layer of hard skin. Not good. Unless I file it down with a foot file, but I worry that’s perpetuating the problem...

Newton sponges to remove the skin and them slather loads of moisturiser on

WednesdayalltheWay · 02/04/2021 19:24

A microplane- style foot grater thing , can't think of the proper name! I like Neal's Yard lavender body lotion for feet.

MallardtheKing · 02/04/2021 19:33

I use foot peeling masks now and then, they take a few weeks for all the skin to come off but I've always been impressed with the results (if a little grossed out at the amount of skin that comes off!)

goose1964 · 02/04/2021 20:01

Can you find as good mask? They're really good and the results are instantaneous.

WhereDidYouGetThatHat · 02/04/2021 20:04

File weekly or as needed and use Flexitol daily to keep it at bay.

altlife · 02/04/2021 20:07

I absolutely swear by Boots Dry & Cracked Foot Softener. So much so that I have turned many of my family and friends onto it.

Just one application makes a huge difference. Use it daily, or every other day for a few weeks and your feet will look brand new!

I slather it on, rub it in and then put on a pair of thick socks. It soaks in and my feet are renewed.

Enjoy Smile

File, then use a foot cream. You need one with Urea in it - flexitol is the usual one in the UK.

CurrentWife · 02/04/2021 20:25

@quarentini I used to swear by the Newton sponges too, but can no longer get them. Where do you get yours?

needmetime · 02/04/2021 20:26

I can recommend the flexitol also. No harm in a foot peel too this time of year (reminds self to get one)

Dunairbeanat · 02/04/2021 20:28

Flexitol heel balm is brilliant and takes away any pain.

DancesWithDaffodils · 02/04/2021 20:33

@CurrentWife I think they are discontinued Sad.
Dont know what shipping is like at Fragrance Direct

DancesWithDaffodils · 02/04/2021 20:35

Oh, ignore me, CurrentWife. Out of stock there too. Sorry.

CurrentWife · 02/04/2021 20:36

Thank you

ChangeMustHappen · 02/04/2021 20:39

Once podiatrists are open book yourself an appointment. They will remove all the very hard skin professionally. It sounds like you need this first to get your feet back to a state where you can use creams etc.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/04/2021 20:55

I have the same. The foot peels are good but they never take the really hard bits away. As a day to day moisturiser, I used to use Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream until I discovered Aldi's miracle cream which is exactly the same and a fraction of the price. Put it on daily and it really improved my dry, flaky sore runners feet.

stillcrazyafterall · 02/04/2021 20:56

Use cracked heel cream at night and wear cotton socks. A couple of days and my (manky) feet are like a baby's bottom Smile

Cocopogo · 02/04/2021 22:06

The foot peels, are they bought over the counter?

DancesWithDaffodils · 03/04/2021 09:26

The foot peals are off the shelf. No restrictions on their sale that I know of.

AuntieMarys · 03/04/2021 09:27

Go to a podiatrist. They are open.

stevalnamechanger · 03/04/2021 09:33

30% urea cream
From Amazon !

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 03/04/2021 09:51

Flexitol is amazing, sorted my cracks and dry skin with a couple of uses. But perhaps a visit to a podiatrist first and then use flexitol ongoing.

Cocopogo · 04/04/2021 19:22

I’m currently sat with a foot peel mask on. It’s a lot more tingly than I thought it would be! 🤞 for good results

DeusEx · 04/04/2021 19:23

Thank you! Very helpful tips that I will bear in mind.

I suppose I always thought podiatrists were for more ‘structural’ feel problems like arch pain or bone or muscle problems, rather than skin. But you’ve all emboldened me to give one a go.

On foot peels - any particular recommendations? I’ve tried a Korean one the name of which I can’t remember, which a friend raved about, and it didn’t do a thing for me.

Flexitol! Saved my feet 🙂
