What’s in your capsule shoe wardrobe?

If you could only have say five pairs of shoes, what would you have?

I have a terrible tendency to buy the same pair of shoes over and over again, then end up wearing just my favourite version.

I don’t like black shoes so I think mine would be:

Tan ankle boots, low heel
Lightweight white trainers
Gold sandals
Ballerina pumps
Not sure about #5, maybe some knee length boots

Ballerina pumps in tan or a colour
Grey ankle boots
Walking shoes or boots
Running Trainers
Brown winter boots
(but I'd like a pair of canvas pumps too really, and some sliders)

White trainers
Flat black for work
Brown flat ankle boots
Black heeled ankle boots
Black comfortable sandals

I own one pair each of:
Black ballet pumps
Black loafers
Tan ankle boots
Tan knee high boots
Running trainers
Walking shoes

It’s too difficult for me.

I could probably do 5 for S/S and 5 for A/W.

A/W

Chunky loafers or brogues, navy
Trainers, navy
Riding boots, cognac
Chelsea boots, black or chocolate

I’ve got;

Black suede winter knee boots with flat heel
Black leather slip on pumps
Black flat comfortable sandals for summer
Brown flat comfortable sandals for summer

Could probably do with some trainers too.

I live in Aus so climate is much more stable:

In reality 25 pairs is probably the lowest I would ever go where I could still feel I’ve got everything covered.

I do have only 5 pairs of shoes but then I have been told I am monkish in my habits.

If I was allowed one more pair I would have navy suede ankle boots

Oh crap I forgot. I need my burgundy boots for winter. And my burgundy lace ups.

Summer:

5. Running shoes

Winter:

I could probably ditch the flip flops if I had to have five pairs.

I have about 35 pairs, and that’s vastly downsized as I used to have somewhere in the region of 75.

I didn’t count walking shoes or wellies in my trimmed down list because they’re functional and/or work related so I don’t think they should count in a capsule wardrobe.

I prob have 7 actually.

I dont wear heels so that makes it easier.

my 5 pairs would be:

Black flat sandals for summer
Black heels for work
Black ankle boots (ideally I'd like 2 pairs - one with a heel one without).
trainers - probably white.
Black pointy flat pumps

I'd also need running shoes and cycling shoes, but they are for sport so don't count.

I've also realised I've got nothing to walk the dog in either. But I generally use old trainers for that.
