Hi everyone,

We're looking to gauge general interest in Ann Summers and would love to hear about the products you've tried, thoroughly tested and would recommend to others.

The brand have also expanded their collection to include a maternity and nursing range, so we'd love to hear your thoughts on this too. Are there any pieces you think would be particularly good for expectant/new mums?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

@MintyCedric I haven’t looked website. I was referring to the photos of their models that are in their high street shop windows.

NotFrozen · 12/04/2021 16:56

Just to add- I don’t think I would care if the models on their website looked like sex dolls or not, but I do mind having window length photos of them in a family shopping area where my young daughters will see these as images of apparently idealised women.

MintyCedric · 12/04/2021 17:11

Fair comment from shop window POV.

Our nearest one must be more mindful of those issues as I've stopped a couple of times to look at their window displays and not initially realised it was AS

Whoever dreamt this up?! A nursing bra and pants for £34 - bra is seethrough mesh/lace. You'd either have milk everywhere or a visible pad. Milk encrusted lace - yuk.

BonesJones · 12/04/2021 22:28

It looks old fashioned to me. Lacey scratchy shite. Who wears it any more?! And that's not bringing the maternity aspect into it ffs. Who want that extra chaffe on their nipples at that time?! Its for the male gaze, is unstylish and outmoded. Ann Summers not a patch on love honey for 'equipment' either! This thread has tipped me over into 'its not for me but meh' to actively disliking the brand!

Oh so our comments on the first thread weren't good enough? A second thread?!

Well I haven't bought anything from AS because the quality in real life (not so obvious on the photos) was poor.

Someone commented above that there's something a bit tacky about them like rifling through top-shelf magazines. Good description.

Maybe if I had an Only Fans account I'd buy from AS.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 13/04/2021 07:11

So tacky Biscuit

saffire · 13/04/2021 08:16

Has the person who designed this range ever met a pregnant or post-partum woman? I don't think so!!!
Half of the knickers are too low cut, and you cannot be serious about the thongs! Heavy bleeding for weeks and weeks afterwards, how can you wear a pad with these or wear them with stitches? Zero natural material too, so a breeding ground for thrush.

sausagepastapot · 13/04/2021 16:22

Yeah no. AS is absolute shite- overpriced, itchy, ridiculous.

Love Honey is miles better and far cheaper!!!

Oh good, a new vulnerable demographic for the MLN huns to prey on Hmm

Viviennemary · 13/04/2021 18:28

I would never buy anything from them. Its quite degrading merchandise.

That's actually a really good point, how much of this is trying to get an audience to push the pyramid scheme on?

Agree with everyone else ( this is a rarity).
Things that make new mums feel good about themselves is the feeling they’ve nailed bonding and survived a day.

It also helps that in a milk soaked, slightly smelly dressing gown the new dad also thinks you are doing an amazing job and loves you more than ever.

Conversely wearing underwear that denies the reality of childbirth for a male ideal of post partum, is frankly repugnant.
