It’s gradual tan time again....

It’s warm enough to bare ankles so they need some colour. I’m scared of “proper” fake tan so always use a gradual tanner - most recently a Superdrug own brand which I can’t find anymore but was great smell-wise, but have also used all the usual suspects- St Tropez, Garnier Summer Body, Bondi Sands etc. They all suffer from “that” smell on me.

Hit me with your recommendations for a good non-smelly gradual tan - I’m willing to throw some money at this for the right product, it will become a staple as the limbs come out over the next few months!

Are there any that don't stain the bed sheets?? I think I might need it this year

VanCleefArpels · 25/03/2021 07:11

@Titsinknicks I’ve never had issues with the gradual tans, another reason why I avoid “proper” full on fake tan!

I might begin this year. Never really bothered before. But I don't want fake ran that rubs onto clothing or bedding

cherrytree63 · 25/03/2021 07:16

The nearest I've found to non smelly is the Palmers gradual tan.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 25/03/2021 07:19

I've never had success with these as the instructions state. They say you use them and it builds up a tan.
The thing is, because I'm afraid of patchiness etc every time I shower I use a bath puff thing to lightly exfoliate so it never seems to build up.

I'm doing it wrong aren't I?

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 25/03/2021 07:22

Isle of Paradise drops. Come in light, medium and dark and you add them to your normal body lotion. Never gone wrong with them and no evil scent.

Krook · 25/03/2021 07:27

I am super-pale so have tried many over the years. I've settled on Skinny Tan the best for me. The 7 day tanner is great and the face drops are brilliant - add to your usual moisturiser. They also do an instant tan for emergencies Grin

SlipperyLizard · 25/03/2021 07:29

Another vote for Isle of Paradise drops,

folloyourarro · 25/03/2021 07:33

Skinny Tan, my favourite is the white bottle just standard gradual tanner. I'm using the gradual mousse atm goes on well but is gathering in the usual places after just 2 goes.

Yes you are putting it on then scrubbing it off Grin

I only need to exfoliate a few days in to a spray tan, to remove any patchy bits then top up with fake tan (I think, it's been so long..!)

PippaRose · 25/03/2021 08:05

I always go with Dove, might go and put some on now as the sun is shining!

Fuckitaaaallllll · 25/03/2021 08:48

Dove tanning mousse is great, smells a little bit as they all do but dries really quickly and goes on easily.

HermioneMakepeace · 25/03/2021 08:51

Samantha Sona Gradual Tan is amazing. It’s organic and doesn’t stain your bed sheets. Gives a lovely colour and most importantly does not smell!

LadyCatStark · 25/03/2021 08:54

Another vote for skinny tan, but don’t bother with gradual tan. Skinny tan is fool proof, if I can use it anyone can!

peachgreen · 25/03/2021 08:56

I find the spray ones the easiest to use and least hassle. The Garnier one is fine but the Loreal one is a nicer colour. They do have the biscuit smell though but I absolutely love that smell, think I must be the only one!

Popsy321 · 25/03/2021 08:58

Amanda Harrington.

folloyourarro · 25/03/2021 09:02

@peachgreen I put it on for the first time this year this week and it cheered me up, the memorable smell of summer Grin

MyGrassIsBrowner · 25/03/2021 09:06

I love both the Garnier and Dove gradual tanning lotions myself, but I make sure I have a really good exfoliating session beforehand. I use Soap & Glory scrub of your life and some good quality exfoliating gloves!

Spied · 25/03/2021 09:08

Like a couple of pps have mentioned, it has to be Isle of Paradise drops.
I use mine with nivea lotion.

VanCleefArpels · 25/03/2021 09:11

I’ve tried the isle of paradise but was worried about uniformity in the sense that there will be different dilution of the drops in different sized blobs of moisturiser. Does that even make sense 🤣

What ever rub on product I use I seem to be incapable of washing my hands without splashing water on my legs and ending up with a pale line where the water has run down.
With that in mind I use Skinny Tan tan and tone and spray it direct onto a velvet tanning mit and rub onto my body. It’s very light (gets poor reviews for this) but that’s perfect for me, I just want to counteract the blue undertones in my skin!

UnderTheHotSun · 25/03/2021 09:24

Had anyone found a gradual tan that dries quickly? The dove one takes forever!

Dove gradual tanning mousse
folloyourarro · 25/03/2021 11:11

Yes mousses dry quicker as the consistency is thinner than the creams, I find them more drying though.

HermioneMakepeace · 25/03/2021 11:30

It depends how much oil it has in it: the more oil it has, the longer it will take to dry.
