Nice ballet flats for that Parisian look?

I’m enjoying the French threads!

Does anyone have any good places to look for nice ballet flats for spring?

I have massive size 8 feet (but narrow) and just want something to wear on days when I don’t need to walk for miles (I live in trainers in spring usually and tbh would always wear trainers rather than ballet flats if I was walking any real distance as I don’t get enough arch support from a flat...)

I like bright colours and neutrals but not pastels. I can probably spend up to £100, ideally less but if I fall in love with anything I could edge it higher. Are French Sole worth the extra £££ for example?

Would love your reccs!

OP, I'm looking for some too! I like Russell and Bromley but they are so pricey. I think the quilted flats are very chic with a simple outfit

Dune used to do a similar pair but for the third of the price.

YoureBreakingMyHeartCecilia · 10/02/2021 11:37

Yes I love the Russell and Bromley ones too... I really can’t afford them however!! I like Dune, I will see if they have anything similar...

I know, I'm eagerly waiting for the sales..! My feet are 7/7.5 too so they'll never look cute and dainty so shoes are an issue! I feel like two-toned ones make them appear a bit smaller Smile

I recently discovered French sole but have not yet bought anything.

seriously, unless you are only going from car to restaurant (what are those?) ballet flats will knacker up your feet. They provide no support and create the waddle as you try to keep them on, so look rather silly too.

Dainty feet are for short arse women. If you aren't a short arse, you won't have tiny feet so don't worry about it. What you don't want is knackered feet or back.

HowQuicklyTwoAndTwenty890 · 10/02/2021 11:44

Oh sorry! I see you already mentioned French sole!! (I posted before reading your full post! ) Blush

Honeywort · 10/02/2021 11:47

I’ve had incredibly comfortable ballet flats from Fitflop in the past - looked like regular shoes rather than Fitflops but still had great support. The ones I have aren’t made any more but they still do a couple of traditional ballet flat styles.

IdesMarchof · 10/02/2021 11:47

French sole are great (also have bigger feet)

BUT @murbblurb is right. Wearing ballet flats all the time knackered my feet and gave me bad plantar

Oly4 · 10/02/2021 11:52

I have a few pairs of the Russell and Bromley Charming ballet flats and they are worth every penny.
They don’t knacker my feet at all, I can walk miles in them, they are also indestructible and still look like new after tonnes of wear.
They are a classic

RedPaperLantern · 10/02/2021 11:54

All Birds have a good take on the ballet flat

PaulHollywoodsLowHangingFruit · 10/02/2021 12:21

I like Blue Velvet for ballerinas. You can go for ones with a slight heel if you are concerned re feet longterm.

Caprice also does some really supportive ones and can be picked up for buttons on Amazon.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 10/02/2021 12:22

Ballet flats are awful, not only are they bad for your feet but I never seen one single woman who looks great in them.

MacDuffsMuff · 10/02/2021 13:34

I love ballet flats and used to wear them all the time. BUT I'm convinced that's why I've had awful plantar fascitis so haven't worn them for years now and haven't had any problems since.

Pigtailsandall · 10/02/2021 13:36

@Oly4 that's good to hear! Are they ever on sale? Or do I just bite the bullet and pay full price?

RacheyCat · 10/02/2021 14:14

Zara has some alright ones in leather. They go up to a 42, which is a generous 8/small 9. They also have some OK loafer shoes which serve a similar purpose.

YoureBreakingMyHeartCecilia · 10/02/2021 14:27

Thanks everyone! I am getting a memory of why I ditched ballet pumps for trainers years ago... sore feet!!! Hm. Might have to re think this! I do like the sound of the Russell and Bromley ones that are more comfy though (and way out of my budget Grin)

@MacDuffsMuff snap! I wore pretty much only ballet flats for years and got awful plantar after years of being fine. I daren’t go back to them now

Likewise, I have a couple of really lovely pairs but I daren't even attempt them now!

Lotty32 · 10/02/2021 15:37

I always buy mine from Hobbs - think about £70 and often in the sale

SpaceRaiders · 10/02/2021 15:46

French sole are great only thing I didn’t like was plastic soles which were slippery on polished surfaces.

Pretty Ballerinas in leopard print/goat skin tend to be my go to, I buy a couple of pairs every year. Comfortable, classy and relatively reasonable in terms of price.

gretagreengrapes · 10/02/2021 15:48

I buy all my flats from Office (their own brand shoes), I have skinny feet and they seem to fit well!

IrishMamaMia · 10/02/2021 15:52

I like this look too. Have bought some nice pairs in M&S, durable and cost efficient :)

Oly4 · 10/02/2021 15:59

No the R&B ones are never on sale from what I have seen. I have the nude ones which go with everything.
They are quite structured leather so don’t slop off your feet.
I’ve never had foot problems but I don’t wear them all year round, for example I wear boots in the winter etc

I second the FitFlop ballet flats recommendation. They look cute and feminine but I can walk for hours in them.
