RoyKinnear · 31/10/2007 22:41

over 17 a nono ....are you getting some?

brimfull · 31/10/2007 22:42

god,don't really know

definately not over 40 I'd say as probably worn them first time round...ie me!

MrsLynetteScavo · 31/10/2007 22:45

I depends what you wear them with. Avoid denim hot pants if you are over 19. I think they look OK with loinger skirts.

TaLcsFromTheCrypt · 31/10/2007 22:45

Hmmmmm

Wore them threw my teens..

wore them threw my early twenties..

I keep seeing them in the shops with long tunicy type tops....

I fear they may not be too flattering

am over 35..

Well I'm 48 and just bought some to wear with a dress. Have had many compliments about them!

mazzystar · 31/10/2007 22:50

imo it all depends on the legs

  • any hint of shapely calves or chunky thighs then its a no
  • also bad if one is short in the leg, if cut off mid ankle make legs look stumpy

with right legs and right clothes age not an issue

TaLcsFromTheCrypt · 31/10/2007 22:50

...becauseimworthit...

what sort of footwear with them?

I always used to wear DM'S or converse boots...

Methinks i must be too old to get away with that?

OP posts:
TaLcsFromTheCrypt · 31/10/2007 22:51

lolo at Roykinnear

TaLcsFromTheCrypt · 31/10/2007 22:51

Yes to chunky thighs...

OP posts:
TaLcsFromTheCrypt · 31/10/2007 22:52

..long legs that get wide at the top..

but they'll be hidden by my long tunicy top.

I bought them late summer, so was wearing them with low wedge sandals (that makes them sound dreadful but they are actually quite funky).

Not sure what to wear with them now - but I have some boots I can use.

Have to ask the style police about that one!

MrsLynetteScavo · 31/10/2007 22:56

Why do I never see any in the shops. Where do you buy leggings from?

BecauseImWereWolfit · 31/10/2007 23:01

I bought mine from Sainsbury. I wasn't really looking for any specific outfit, but they had a lovely dress - brown, with small polka dots of white, pink and teal, scoop neck, gathered under the bust with a tie back. It was obviously designed to be worn with either leggings or jeans, and I bought the leggings there as well. Whole outfit cost me £20! (not that I'm tight, you understand)

TaLcsFromTheCrypt · 31/10/2007 23:01

Next have some nice leggings

TaLcsFromTheCrypt · 31/10/2007 23:01

...and tesco

OP posts:
funnypeculiar · 31/10/2007 23:03

I have some - worn last week with boots & short skirt ... & received muchos compliments (mostly of the 'God, what's going on, you look really nice' sort

TaLcsFromTheCrypt · 31/10/2007 23:05

Do you have lumpy legs, funnypeculiar?

And are you over 17?

OP posts:
funnypeculiar · 31/10/2007 23:09

Very much over 17.
Legs are OK.
I hope.
Certainly at the skinny rather than chunky end of the spectrum.

Why did it look wrong? I'm genuinely interested. I have been wondering for a while about dressing according to my age. But I don't know what I should wear! I've never been especially fashion conscious, so it's not fashion at all costs, but I do wear relatively young clothes.

I do, however, also look younger than my age which may make a difference. I'm a comfortable weight - i.e. not a skinny minny but not overweight by more than few pounds for my height.

I buy a lot of stuff from M&S - mostly Per Una and, recently, from Sainsbury who have had some fantastic stuff recently.

So what is 'right' and 'wrong' for someone of my age?!

BecauseImWorthIt · 31/10/2007 23:17

Have just changed back to my usual name, so you can see my profile to check that I don't look like an old gimmer!
