Where to buy dresses online when you're petite

I am a 4ft 11, size 8/10 nursery teacher with teeny tiny legs! Most trousers, even petite ones are far too long on me. I tend to wear dresses with leggings to work so I can sit crossed legged on the carpet. Need something inexpensive so I'm not worried about paint and marker pen mishaps. Has anybody got any online shop recommendations?

I'm smaller than you. I buy dresses from Boden but I've only summer ones. I was looking at Banana Republic yesterday but no idea what they are like. Sometimes tunic tops are good as dresses.

I hem my own petite trousers or wear with chunky heels.

ASOS look good too.

I always used to shop at Dorothy Perkins, but need to find somewhere new. Not tried Boden or Banana Republic, will check them out. I find Next petite really big on me, but not tried them for a while. I sometimes by mini dresses in standard sizes, as these tend to be just above me knee.
Just bought a coat from Asos, their range is so large it's hard narrow down my choices and choose!

ASOS petite range is very short. I say as this as someone five feet nothing and I found it short compared to all other brands

Is ASOS easy to return?

Pepelepettigrew · 31/01/2021 09:13

ASOS petite is good, I also like river island. It's a limited range but decent quality. Topshop used to be good but haven't put a back in a dress in about 5 years so a no go for work. I'm similar in size but a bit fatter now! Grin

Although, genuinely, learning to use a sewing machine to do basic things like shorten straps and hems has really opened up the high street for me so I would really recommend that.

Spacecudet · 31/01/2021 12:20

@Pepelepettigrew I should have paid more attention when my mum tried to show me how to use a sewing machine. It scared me as a child. I tend to resort to wonderweb, which looks pretty crap.

ASOS petite can be very good. Sometimes it's worth investigating what fits you in different brands and then buying things secondhand, as there's lots of secondhand petite. I sometimes buy things from the children's section if they're really close/identical to the adult's version e.g. basics like jumpers, Jersey tops and dresses and leggings. Zara, Mango and H&M are great for that.

@Iceniib Yes I find ASOS really good with returns and they provide different choices.

Spacecudet · 31/01/2021 15:52

@Coffee4Queen thanks for the link.

This might help as there are a couple of lesser known companies in there.
