Longline puffer coat?

That is showerproof very warm but doesn't add 2 sizes to my already over generous lockdown frame, does such a thing exist?

I bought a lovely one from M&S 2 years ago but the material outside holds every single smell, went out to eat (way before covid!) and afterwards my coat smelt awful of food until I washed it.

I'd like one below the knees, good budget if it's made to last.

Does anyone own such a thing?

After trying many different ones, I've found the 'ultimate' - waterproof, down padded (so actually warm!), lightweight, even washes well and doesn't make me look like a sausage:

Lululemon Brave The Cold

It is pricey, but mine has lasted really well - at least 8 years (likely more, I just don't remember exactly when I got it). It's worth having a search on eBay, as they do come up sometimes. (mind the US sizing though - so UK14=US10, UK16=US12, etc.)

Others I've tried had either been too cold, couldn't resist the English winter drizzle/rain, made me look two sizes larger, or simply fell apart after a season and a half...

I just bought the next khaki Emma Willis one - it's lovely.

Selkiesarereal · 01/02/2021 20:34

Another recommendation for the Emma Willis one at next has served me well on many a cold walk in Scotland!

Phase eight. Just got mine in the sale. Navy, knee length and gorgeous

Amazing coat. Expensive but cost per wear is tiny! North Face Suzanne www.thenorthface.co.uk/shop/en-gb/tnf-gb/women-jackets-coats-triclimate-3-in-1-jackets/womens-suzanne-triclimate-parka-4svp?variationId=KX7

I saw a lady today in the khaki Emma Willis coat, it looked lovely and warm. Still unavailable though. I'm not sure it'll come back will it.

I phoned Next and they said that there is nothing to say they are expecting new stock but that doesn't mean they won't have more....there are quite a few going for over £100 on eBay!

Karwomannghia · 02/02/2021 16:26

I’m always freezing and got a cheap one off eBay with embroidery and huge pockets which means I don’t have to take a bag and a hood. It’s so warm and impressively waterproof. Really lightweight. I love it and it’s had a lot of compliments.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 02/02/2021 18:21

Keep trying OP. Mine arrived either yesterday or the day before - they get one or two in at a time. As luck would have it I looked early on the morning and managed to get one.

MrsKingfisher · 03/02/2021 06:59

Hurrah! I managed to get one, I sized down but reading the reviews people are going 2 sizes down so I hope it'll be ok.

Yay!!! Let us know how you get on with it!!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 03/02/2021 11:37

I sized down by one size and the reviews are right, they do come up big. Glad you found one

MrsKingfisher · 03/02/2021 11:39

I actually bought a tall in Khaki and the regular in black, I'm 5'7 and wanted it quite long so will have to see if the tall one swamps me.

OP posts:
newmummy8789 · 03/02/2021 12:08

I'm 5'10 and the regular is fine...I think I'd have rather had the tall but I need bigger than 18

WellThisIsABitRubbish · 03/02/2021 12:11

I bought a lovely long coat from the Emma Willis collection in Next, so warm absolutely love it.

WellThisIsABitRubbish · 03/02/2021 12:12

Sorry just seen it’s already been recommended 🤦🏼‍♀️

MrsKingfisher · 04/02/2021 14:33

My coat arrived, I'm going to go against the grain, I really don't like it. Yes it's warm but utterly shapeless and the outside feels cheap. Love the length, really disappointed. Back to the drawing board!

@MrsKingfisher I ended up with this one. It’s lovely & warm and I wore it out in the rain early morning the other day & it kept me dry. I think the fit it’s quite generous I’m a 12/14 but the 12 is fine & there’s space for a thick jumper of required.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 04/02/2021 16:18

Sorry you didn't like the Next one. DS told me I looked like a big green worm in mine - but I was nice and dry at the time and he was getting soaked Grin. He's 20 btw, not some cute little toddler if anyone is thinking I'm an evil mummy who didn't make him put a proper coat on Wink
Hope you find one you like

[quote Daisy829]I’ve never thought about looking at land send for coats. Does anyone have this

I have three! I used them when I go out to walk the dogs. They regularly go in the washing machine and in the tumble dryer (with tennis balls to fluff them up). The best coats I've ever found when it comes to warmth, durability and comfort.

MrsKingfisher · 04/02/2021 19:22

@LetMeStraightenMyCrownFirst how does the Lands End one fit?

The Trespass Phyllis coat linked to upthread is very warm and surprisingly shapely and elegant with a well defined waist.
Alternatively an oversized coat like this can make anyone wearing it look slighter. It’s not advertised as such but isn’t material that wets easily.
