Country boots, neoprene wellies or similar

I'm looking for some boots for walking in the wet, muddy fields. I have made do with Wellies but my feet get so cold and they're not very comfortable. I don't want short, hiking boots, I fancy a pair of country boots but as it's impossible to try any on in RL, I could do with some advice. Are they really worth the price tag?

Muck boots. Worth every penny

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 14/01/2021 16:21

I would say, le chameau or muck boots. As for country boots Dubarry are good but they don’t stay waterproof for long in my experience.

newmummy8789 · 14/01/2021 16:28

I have these and love them

They also do a tall country boot which I have and are fab. Both great for wet muddy dog walks, I've even been impressed with both pairs in the ice and snow!

MacDuffsMuff · 14/01/2021 16:31

Muck boots - seriously warm, waterproof and comfortable.

hawleybits · 14/01/2021 16:39

I should also have mentioned, I am quite short at 5'3". Will the tall boots be too tall? I don't want them digging in the back of my knees.

newmummy8789, do you have these?

Muck boots are very good, and I always liked the Dublin River boots.. Worked outside for years and much boots were my favourite for keeping warm. Not as nice looking as the country boots but IMO warmer and last a lot longer x

Jessmary94 · 14/01/2021 16:56

*muck boots

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 14/01/2021 16:59

Muck boots, you can get them in shorter lengths if you are worried about the height. I like the muckmasters for grip in the mud.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 14/01/2021 17:01

I mean ‘heights’ not lengths Hmm

No these.
I did try some Dublin river boots but they didn't fit my rather large calves. They were lovely though, and if I remember correctly they had the measurements on the size guide so you could check for length.

DrIrisFenby · 14/01/2021 17:06

Another vote for Muck Boots - nicest, warmest wellies I've ever had. I walk about 5km every day in mine rain or shine.

hawleybits · 14/01/2021 17:12

The vote seems to be for Muck Boots. They do look rather heavy; are they actually easy to walk in?

Muck boots are great for walking in, very comfortable. But, my current pair rub my heels to shreds and I can't get rid of that rub! Previous pair were fabulous. I don't know whether to buy another pair just in case the current pair are duffers.

hawleybits · 14/01/2021 17:25

I love the Dublin River Boots. Does anyone have these? How are they for size? I always was a size 5 but lately, I have shoes and boots in varying sizes from 5/5-5/6.

newmummy8789 · 14/01/2021 17:28

I also have a pair of muck boots 😂 as someone else said they rub like mad!!

I think I remember being advised to size up with the Dublin boots

Horsemad · 14/01/2021 17:29

I have Dublin River boots and I love them, they're really warm.
Mine are size 6 and are very comfy on my wide feet. They also fit my chunky calves too! 😁

katmunchkin · 14/01/2021 17:30

Toggi Canyons here, they're like slippers, so comfy!

hawleybits · 14/01/2021 17:31

Oh, I can't have rubbing! Nothing worse!

hawleybits · 14/01/2021 17:35

katmunchkin, Toggi Canyons are another nice looking boot but they're currently out of stock in my size.

How's the sizing with Muck boots?

MissRainbowBrite · 14/01/2021 20:23

I have a pair of Aigle neoprene wellies and they are fab. Comfy, warm and I can walk miles in them. I'm only 5ft 3 and they definitely don't rub.

Iheartmysmart · 14/01/2021 20:26

I’ve got Aigle Parcours and they are very comfy to walk in but you need thermal socks with them for additional warmth. I’m not quite 5ft tall and they don’t dig into the back of my knees.

MatildaMainly · 14/01/2021 20:26

I have Aigle too. Good quality and two things I specifically like. One is the calf width adjustment and the other is the ankle grip which makes them more like walking boots than wellies. They're super comfortable and fully waterproof of course.

I'm 5'4" and like that I can tuck jeans and trousers in them on a muddy walk.

ImAncient · 14/01/2021 20:33

I’ve the derwent muckboots. Love them. Mine don’t rub.
