Squat proof, well fitted black leggings for 5'4 DD 13

So that's it really. I'm looking for a decent pair of size S or XS black leggings for 5'4 size 6 that are not see through and fit well in that they don't go baggy etc. DD doesnt need supportive high waist leggings so sweaty betty or Lululemon aren't necessary plus obvs they are ££ but something well made. She currently wears Adidas leggings which are see through when she bends over. I want to keep costs as low as possible as well.

Fabletics. 2 for £24 and then cancel. They are truly squat proof.

Ooooo I've been tempted by them before, but then read the reviews saying they're impossible to deal with when you cancel. Have you done it yourself? How was it?
Comefromaway · 08/01/2021 10:30

@TwilightToStarlight

Fingers crossed mine won't be too revealing then! Nobody wants to see that in yoga Grin.

I think they come up small, so sizing up might help as well.

Hers come in dual sizes. She's a size 8 so wears 8-10in Adidas and they are great . Brands that do Size 6-8 tend to be too small and stretch too thin.
Violinmum1 · 08/01/2021 10:34

My DD, same age and height, has leggings from both Decathlon and H&M that fit the bill. I think the H&M leggings said "brushed inside" and they're thicker than the standard H&M leggings.

Paid £45 for a pair of gym shark leggins for dd 15 bak in the first lockdown and she's literally
Lived in them

Squat proof and not too high waste but enough your butt doesn't hang out and def not see through.

I balked at paying it to start with but they are brill and I've bought her another two pairs in the gym shark sale since then.

Got myself a pair ready for when I can get the motivation to get my fat ass in them to start excercising Grin

TwilightToStarlight · 08/01/2021 10:34

Yes, I've done the same thing; I am a 16 in leggings, but went 16-18.

minnie465 · 08/01/2021 10:36

Another vote for fabletics. I got the intro offer then rang up and cancelled the subscription. Don't understand all the bad press they get.

I might look at them. My dd is training to be a dancer so does live in leggings. They have to be black though due to her college uniform.

DD16 lives in gymshark leggings.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 08/01/2021 12:46

I've just bought my first pair of Sweaty Betty leggings in a recent sale that lasted for less than 12 hours. They're the high shine high waisted ones which were only £35. I didn't want to buy any more in case the sizing wasnt right but I'm interested to see how good they are once they arrive as people rave about them.

I think I'm going to buy the gymshark leggings for DD although I've told her as she still fits into the adidas ones and she's not at School for the moment I'll buy them when she actually needs them, and to not bend over if possible at School in them Grin once she returns.

She's grown a lot since last year so I dont want to buy some she won't fit into in a few months time plus they might be in a sale soon.

@FlyingByTheSeatof keep an eye out for their sales. They do pretty good discounts, but xs & s go really quickly.

WinstonmissesXmas · 08/01/2021 13:04

I know you said no to Lululemon but you get what you pay for. I have a pair that I’ve used for the last three years and they look pristine. Not see-through, not cheap and nasty, perfect for yoga and stretching. Mine are black and haven’t faded at all. The initial outlay is a lot (£100?) but you’d pay that in ten pairs of cheap leggings that lasted 3 months each.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 08/01/2021 13:06

@Violinmum1 the thicker brushed inside H&M leggings only go up to age 9-10 sadly

OP posts:
Violinmum1 · 08/01/2021 13:15

Oh, that's sad! I'm not in the UK and the H&M where I am has them in size 12-14. The Decathlon leggings are also very good though. DD uses them for sports and they're both durable and opaque.

Luckyelephant1 · 08/01/2021 13:16

Another vote for Gymshark they are incredible. They also suck everything in without you feeling like an overstuffed sausage (although I'm sure this isn't relevant to OP DD but just for anyone else reading). Obviously a bit late now but they also have great black Friday sales so I recently got 3 pairs for around 60 quid. I think they may do a summer sale too.

Bloodhoundgang · 08/01/2021 13:18

Nike dri fit. Mine are 7 years old and unreal. I wear an S and am size 10 so she may need xxs if they exist?
M&S also do good ones that have pockets. Material not as strong as the dri fits but they're also about 20ish quid.

TwilightToStarlight · 08/01/2021 13:27

God damn it @WinstonmissesXmas! You have just FORCED me to buy some leggings and shorts in the lululemon sale. Shame on you WinkGrin!

BigusBumus · 08/01/2021 13:31

I just bought some Technical Leggings from Next (own brand) and they are great, really thick but stretchy fabric.

WinstonmissesXmas · 08/01/2021 14:01

Twilight - you’re welcome Wink

MaryLennoxsScowl · 08/01/2021 14:03

Fabletics are good and squat-proof but you must remember to cancel after the intro offer or you’re trapped into trying to spend your stupid credits on ridiculously expensive leggings - ask me how I know! It’s a bit of a hunt to find the unsubscribe but it is there!

H&M are very variable - some are squat-proof and some aren’t, and some are made of an opaque but odd mesh fabric which is startlingly unflattering (have seen other people wearing them too) but isn’t obvious on the website photos which ones have that and which are ordinary Lycra.

Dozer · 08/01/2021 14:06

For non sports, Next girls’ leggings are fine.

For indoor sport, Nike pro are good - super comfy and thin but not at all see through.

Dozer · 08/01/2021 14:08

Nike Pro expensive full price but older styles usually available online for £26 ish.

maybemove · 08/01/2021 14:11

100% gym shark, my eldest dd has worn them for a couple of years and I just bought some for my 13yo this Xmas. She is pretty skinny though so I’ve found the higher waisted ones do gape slightly at the waist, but she prefers those so I’ve just put a couple of darts in. They do have a lot of stretch and good quality so last ages!

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 08/01/2021 14:22

Mint velvet leggings are thick !

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 08/01/2021 14:23
