Anyone using this?

Am going to try 30 days and see how I get on. I'm always battling my thinning locks!

You're probably right. I think I'll get no1 and see how it goes. Will check your updates!

laughoutquiet · 18/01/2021 15:41

I was looking at Nioxin on Amazon a few days ago, when I'm sure I saw one that said with minoxidil,
I have searched several times but can't find it again,
I am still using regaine, but no new growth yet Hmm

laughoutquiet · 18/01/2021 16:32

@princessTiasmum how long have you been using the regain for? This was one I looked at originally.

MolotovMocktail · 18/01/2021 22:18

Thanks for the update! Bit concerting about the initial hair loss, I wonder why that happens?

MolotovMocktail · 18/01/2021 22:18

Concerning not concerting!

laughoutquiet · 18/01/2021 22:32

@MolotovMocktail from what I understand, Nioxin cleans your scalp and unblocks all your hair follicles so that thicker growth can happen as blocked follicles won't grow hair.

Occasionally it wipes out any hairs that aren't really embedded allowing other stronger hairs to grow in their place. I think that is where I'm up too!

MolotovMocktail · 18/01/2021 22:39

Oh I see. Good luck with it, will keep my eye out for the next update!

princessTiasmum · 19/01/2021 11:39

laughoutquiet i have been using Regaine now for about 6 months,I know it can take longer for any results, but very disappointed that there is nothing
I have noticed my hair getting even thinner, and only hoping that is a forerunner to new growth, but feeling very disillusioned now
Also worried that if I stop it now will not get any better on it's own

laughoutquiet · 26/01/2021 21:37

@princessTiasmum sorry to hear that the regain hasn't been positive for you so far. I don't know much about it? Have you followed anyone else's experience?

Eek! The week has slipped away from me. I meant to post yesterday but I'm starting to feel like furlough-brain could be an actual thing Confused.

So week 3 done. No major changes this week but positively hair loss whilst washing has definitely lessened.

My hair feels healthy and I'm convinced that there's a small amount of downy new growth, especially around my temples.

I did some reading on Nioxin ingredients and, on the back of this, I've started using it everyday as opposed to every other. I also read that decreased blood flow can increase hair loss. I have Raynauds and have constantly cold extremities unless I keep on top of keeping warm. So, it might sound weird but I now wear a bobble hat round the house when cold! I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I want to give my hair every chance Smile.

Next week will be my final check in and I'll post some comparison pictures. If anyone does this in the future, please get some one else to do the pics! I didn't realise it would be so hard to get similar angles!

Have a great week x

Thanks for the update! I have just started using it this week.

princessTiasmum · 27/01/2021 14:34

Spoke to some a while ago who says she has had some success with Regaine, but ,i might try the nioxin again
No difference for me yet

laughoutquiet · 28/01/2021 07:20

@Darklingthrush let us know how it goes!

laughoutquiet · 28/01/2021 07:23

@princessTiasmum I don't know much about regain but you would have thought that 6 months use should have seen some impact? I'm sorry, it's so frustrating isn't it?

OP posts:
laughoutquiet · 01/02/2021 19:42

So one month done @princessTiasmum @Darklingthrush @MolotovMocktail @Mrstwiddle

I feel like there is a difference in my hair. It's never going to be really thick and full but I do feel there's an improvement. In fact, I've ordered another set to do another full month whilst I'm furloughed/ in lock down.

Photos attached - four weeks before and after. Sorry about the rubbish quality of photography skills. My parting doesn't feel as sparse and I'm sure I have new baby hairs around my temples?

Yes I can definitely tell there is a bit of a difference! Really helpful thanks laughoutquiet might give it a shot. Interested to see how the next month goes!

Darklingthrush · 02/02/2021 07:13

That's brilliant laughoutquiet. I haven't noticed any difference yet but it's early days.

Mrstwiddle · 20/02/2021 01:27

I can definitely see an improvement. Not that it was v bad at all before, but there is clearly new growth there which is fantastic, on the back of this thread I ordered the spray product by Diaboost, will give that a go before I splurge even further. Thank you so much for your updates #laughoutquiet :)

laughoutquiet · 20/02/2021 10:12

Thanks @Mrstwiddle

(Goes off to google Diaboost)

How are you getting on OP?

openupmyeagereyes · 24/02/2021 16:38

In my experience it really depends on the underlying cause of your hair thinning. For me, it definitely encouraged new growth, however it didn’t stop my hair falling out. So for the first few months of using it I had lots of new hair growth and I was really excited but then after a few months I hit another phase of increased shedding. In my case it’s possibly low ferritin but too soon to tell if I’ve finally got to the bottom of the issue or not. I still use the Nioxin (though not every wash now) because I do think it helps stimulate growth but it’s not a cure for me.

laughoutquiet · 24/02/2021 17:11

@thewinehasgonetomyhead thanks for checking in. I'm going to wait until Monday and try and take some more pics as that'll be another four weeks (where does the time go!).

Day to day, I can't see much difference so hoping the pics will show some change.

I also need to take into account though that my hair hasn't been trimmed for about 8 months now. I'm really looking forward to finally getting an appointment as it's feeling like it's "dragging".

OP posts:
laughoutquiet · 24/02/2021 17:15

@openupmyeagereyes I still think I'm on the wait and see stage. My low b12 definitely contributed to increased shedding but even though this has definitely lessened I wasn't seeing any new growth. I think the Nioxin has helped here (so far!).

So follow up pics 8 weeks on....
