Youngatheart00 · 29/12/2020 19:30

Sorry I know this is a bit grim...I’ve heard about (or did I just dream it?) magic potions you leave on under socks over night and you have baby soft feet. Does such a thing exist and / or any other recs for how I can fix my revolting feet?

@LouiseBelchersBunnyEars

What flexitol do people use specifically? There’s an actual heel balm, and a generic tub? Does it matter which?
Heel balm. (I occasionally use a bit on knees, elbows and the backs of my arms)
StealthPolarBear · 30/12/2020 09:43

Heel balm definitely

StealthPolarBear · 30/12/2020 09:44

Yes agree with tops of arms, works there too. As does Newton chiropody sponges

TheChosenTwo · 30/12/2020 09:59

Flexitol heel balm. It’s magic in a tube and well worth the £6 or so every couple of weeks! I tried cheaper alternatives and they just lack the power of flexitol.
Soap and glory heel balm is nice but not as good IMO.
It honestly made my heels look much better just after the first application.
Slathered it on, chucked on a pair of socks and off I went. By about day 3 of using it the results were nothing short of miraculous! I just use it daily now and my feet look lovely and smooth, it’s just for preventing the dry skin. I’ve never filed or grated though.

TheProvincialLady · 30/12/2020 10:09

We call Flexitol Piss Cream in our house 😀 it is excellent stuff.

poopyface · 30/12/2020 16:27

Agree with other posters the footfile cheese grater thing is amazing, i got a cheapy version off amazon.

Joinedtosayhello · 30/12/2020 16:28

Also try a Ped Egg (think that’s what they are called) before moisturising. Works wonders at giving you smooth heels.

winterbabythistime · 30/12/2020 16:49

I find lanisoh nipple cream is really good for my cracked hands (bloody alcohol hand gel) so probably work on feet too

winterbabythistime · 30/12/2020 16:49

Oh yes and bar soap is better for your skin than shower gel

Feedingthebirds1 · 30/12/2020 21:59

Ok OP - depending on how bad they are I have a couple of suggestions! First I would go in with something like the item in the photo - I was dubious but it's so satisfying. I may get flamed for that one but if you're feeling brave and steady-of-hand then it's great.

I have something similar, a tip I picked up when Scholl used to have shops and do pedicures. I use a corn knife. Soak feet for 10 minutes, pat them almost dry, then run round the outside of the heel with the knife as if it was a potato peeler. Astonishing.

JaceLancs · 30/12/2020 23:03

CCS cracked heel repair is amazing 25% urea
Once improved then maintain with CCS foot care cream (much cheaper)

Youngatheart00 · 30/12/2020 23:09

Ok I’ve ordered the ‘piss cream’!

Will report back.....

I can second the Own Harmony foot sander, gets loads of the skin off in preparation for the piss cream

Herdwick · 30/12/2020 23:45

@TheChosenTwo

Flexitol heel balm. It’s magic in a tube and well worth the £6 or so every couple of week

I buy it in massive tubs for about £16- £20 for nearly 485g (£4.16 per 100g maximum if I can only find it at £20 per tub) If you are only buying it in 50g or 75g tubes you are probably paying between £8-£10per 100g, almost double the price per g. If you use a lot of it you should definitely get a tub!

TheChosenTwo · 30/12/2020 23:49

Oh great, thanks! I hadn’t even really thought about it, I just Chuck a tube in with my shopping every few weeks but you’re right, it will be way more cost effective buying it like this Flowers

User9574 · 30/12/2020 23:50

Yes I have Flexitol and some heel cream. The heel cream will work after about 5-7 nights of application. The Flexitol is great after 2-3 days. Bloody amazing stuff.

misselphaba · 31/12/2020 00:26

I have failed at Footner several times (a bit of skin sloughed off but not enough to make a difference) - is it worth trying Flexitol or are my feet beyond help?

WanderingTrolley1 · 31/12/2020 02:01

Following with interest as my feet are gruesome - terribly dry skin on soles and cracks. Have just ordered the flexitol moistening cream and wondering whether to get the heel cream aswell...

InTheLongGrass · 31/12/2020 08:29

@misselphaba YES, flexitol is a completly different thing to footner.
Footner did nothing for me. Flexitol (or other heal creams mentioned above) will smooth and heel the cracks. The thick skin will still be there, unless you sand/grate/slice it off, but it will be smooth and not look as horrific.

TheChosenTwo · 31/12/2020 09:02

@WanderingTrolley1 I would go specifically for the heel balm, it contains a good percentage of urea which is the magic ingredient in healing the cracks. The moisturiser doesn’t do the same thing ime.

EatDiamondsForBreakfast · 31/12/2020 10:16

Vaseline & socks. Repeatedly. It’s a marathon not a sprint

WanderingTrolley1 · 31/12/2020 10:33

Vaseline hasn’t been effective for me. Been using it for months and months.

Heartofglass12345 · 31/12/2020 11:05

I have a pedipro, a battery powered foot file that's good for getting off hard skin. Then put the cream on after Smile

Puffalicious · 31/12/2020 15:37

Thanks to this thread I've just ordered £25 of foot stuff. Confused

PegasusReturns · 31/12/2020 20:22

As per everyone else flexitol is amazing but you need to complement with regular filing.

I was a massive fan of the ped egg but after recommendations on her I bought the soap and glory foot file. I can’t explain why it’s so good but it really is.
