Sorry I know this is a bit grim...I’ve heard about (or did I just dream it?) magic potions you leave on under socks over night and you have baby soft feet. Does such a thing exist and / or any other recs for how I can fix my revolting feet?

OP posts:

I just bought dh an Own Harmony electric hard skin remover off amazon, says it's amazing.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/12/2020 20:44

Nothing beats doublebase gel. You apply daily but don’t massage it in. Don’t bother with socks, never saw the point in them.

Sainsburys sell it.

FelicityPike · 29/12/2020 20:46

Soak your feet in blue listerine.

HeartZone · 29/12/2020 20:46

And to add to above.
I stopped going bare feet around house .... wearing socks has definitely helped me.

Peta11 · 29/12/2020 20:47

Footner!

Shorthairlady · 29/12/2020 20:54

Moisturising socks and LCN Urea 40% Chapped Skin Cream for Thick Callused Skin 50ml from Amazon will have your feet feeling softer than a newborns in no time at all.

Flexitol is brilliant. But my chiropodist said to be careful with foot files and similar, if you actually have a chronic fungal infection which a lot of us flaky footed folk do apparently. If that’s you as well then spraying feet with miconazole spray (daktarin) before putting socks on in the morning and using terbinafine cream (lamisil) in the evenings until things improve and then switching to flexitol nightly. Worked a treat for me. She said that filing feet with fungal infections just spreads it about.

almost2021 · 29/12/2020 21:27

I frickin love Flexitol

lyinginthegutterstaringatstars · 29/12/2020 21:29

Use foot file regularly. Also Vaseline on heels

Soulstirring · 29/12/2020 21:29

I bought an amazing heel file from amazon.
Like a cheese grater.
Awesome results. Given up needing cream at all now

Sittinginmyoodie · 29/12/2020 21:45

I use the scholl cracked heel cream which is fantastic. I used lock down to sort out my grizzly feet and used it everyday for a week after giving my feel a file and they were amazing.

You do need to tackle the cause of why you're feet are so dry and cracked. It's most likely a fungal infection. I use an antifungal foot cream now. Going barefoot and wearing flip flops etc can also make dry feet worse. My feet are always better in the winter. In the summer they always look terrible!

limesoda · 29/12/2020 21:45

Flexitol keeps my poor little diabetic feet in check, I always regret trying anything else.

Heartofglass12345 · 29/12/2020 22:20

Flexitol is good but expensive and feels weird lol but Vaseline is great for softening hard skin on your heels

StealthPolarBear · 29/12/2020 22:27

Flexitol feels amazing, especially when you can feel it fixing your heel cracks! I wouldn't use it just for dry heel skin though, and don't do what I did and think it's just intense moisturiser, I'll use it on my hands... Oww

StealthPolarBear · 29/12/2020 22:38

BTW it's possible to get incredibly cheap synthetic chiropody sponges. Don't. Just don't.

TheWashingMachine · 29/12/2020 22:43

Purple foot file from super drug, I use it every day in the bath or shower then child's Farm moisturiser after the bath. Reapply cream at bedtime. I always get complimented on my feet. Literally never spend more than five minutes a day on them

pigletpie2177 · 30/12/2020 00:26

Ok OP - depending on how bad they are I have a couple of suggestions! First I would go in with something like the item in the photo - I was dubious but it's so satisfying. I may get flamed for that one but if you're feeling brave and steady-of-hand then it's great.

Second I would use either a Newton's chiropody sponge or (and I actually think these are better) a muthascrubber. It's basically the same thing but chunkier so has lasted longer.

Finally I agree with other posters about flexitol, though not all flexitol was born equal! If they are very bad you will probably want the 25% stuff initially. I like to get those cotton socks from the body shop (no doubt available elsewhere) and leave them overnight.

Good luck!

I have tried everything mentioned and more !! You have to keep at it...Wilko does a good foot cream with same content as flexitol and cheaper...I find best results with soaking and foot sponge or filing and then apply the cream and then wrap foot in cling film and then the socks... socks only and they absorb the cream...do this each day for at least a week or two...

StealthPolarBear · 30/12/2020 07:37

Piglet that looks like an instrument of torture.

LindaEllen · 30/12/2020 07:59

Body Shop Hemp foot cream is great. Put a thick layer on and if possible also buy one of their socks that you can wear overnight over the cream, it'll stop it from rubbing off.

FazeleysRoyale · 30/12/2020 08:08

I have a Ped Egg, which has a mini cheese grater which catches the bits (filings) !

Trying to use some Atrixo thick cream containing aloe vera daily (turquoise tub) as per my mum's instructions, she has lovely soft feet. I wear socks everywhere too.

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 30/12/2020 08:49

I’ve had good results putting the cerave Salicylic acid cream on my feet (the one that comes in a white tub with blue lid)
It was only because they were so dry and i didn’t have anything else, but it’s actually working quite well!

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 30/12/2020 08:54

What flexitol do people use specifically?
There’s an actual heel balm, and a generic tub? Does it matter which?

Shorthairlady · 30/12/2020 09:29

These socks are very good. They have a gel cup in the heel which helps the foot cream to moisturise as well.
