Hunter wellies for the fat of leg?

Just that really? I have fat legs but would really like some Hunter wellies. I know they do adjustable ones (Huntress?), but wondered how adjustable they are? Would they cater for a chunky monkey?

Don't buy Hunter wellies- they are diabolical. Poor quality, uncomfortable and never warm. So many better options.

CushionsandCandles · 28/12/2020 09:50

Eg Aigle infinitely better and have adjustable calf/skirt thing for bigger calves.

fitflopqueen · 28/12/2020 09:52

I have just had Grub wellies for Xmas and they are more generous than Hunters, muck boots too are better.

Skyliner001 · 28/12/2020 09:57

My hunters are narrow, perfect for me and so warm and comfortable 😊

Pugdoglife · 28/12/2020 10:05

I can only wear ankle height hunter wellies, even the wide fitting are too tight and I'm only a size 14 with average legs, I certainly wouldn't consider them fat.
Also my last pair lasted less than a year before starting to come undone which was disappointing considering the price.

TartanPyjamas · 28/12/2020 11:37

I too am chunky of calf, and Hunter wellies haven't worked for me. I second PP's suggestion of Aigle- much more comfortable, flattering and hardwearing.

Get huntress , made for women

cushioncovers · 28/12/2020 11:40

Hunters don't cater well for chunky legs I've tried.

HedgieHog · 28/12/2020 11:43

@Skyliner001 think you are missing the point of the post but glad yours fit your narrow legs 🙄😂

Pechanga · 28/12/2020 11:45

Even the adjustable ones are pretty narrow, they aren't the excellent quality they used to be either.

Hunters are terrible quality regardless of your leg size. They’re fashion wellies same quality as primark with a massive price tag.

JohnWaynesHorse · 28/12/2020 12:44

The only reason Hunter wellies got a posh reputation was Princess Diana wore them on her honeymoon. They were and are fairly terrible wellies. For comfort Le Chameau or Aigle as pp have said

Whitney168 · 28/12/2020 12:46

I’ve just bought Ilse Jacobsen, good for chunky calves.

As with a previous poster, I have o go for the short ones in Hunters.

GCAcademic · 28/12/2020 12:49

Fat of calf here. I went to replace my Huntress boots recently and they had gone up so much in price since I last bought a pair that they are not far off the price of the Aigle Parcours Vario. So I bought the latter, which are much more comfortable and have a proper walking sole.

VinoEsmeralda · 28/12/2020 12:52

Dont waste your money on Hunter's. if you have large calves Aigle is the way forward. Expensive but perfect.

zenasfuck · 28/12/2020 12:54

Hunters are crap for any size leg. Style over substance, the quality these days is appalling

For proper warm, useable boots go for muck boots

pursuedbyablackdog · 28/12/2020 12:56

'Woodland' wellies much cheaper than aigle and are warm and comfy. They last well (last pair did 8 years) second pair into their third year and only minimal signs of wear. I do lots of dog walking in them. They have a reasonable grip, although I do put chains on them for walking on ice!

pursuedbyablackdog · 28/12/2020 12:58

Just make sure you get the adjustable ones I have very muscly fat legs and they fit well!

Jerble · 28/12/2020 13:00

I have large calves and have a pair of Aigles. They are adjustable and neoprene-lined so are very comfortable.

DorisDaisyMay · 28/12/2020 13:40

I got stuck in a pair of Hunter Wellies in TK Maxx!

Lexilooo · 28/12/2020 13:45

My calves aren't even particularly chunky and I can't get into hunters. They are made for twiglet legs only. They are also crap quality.

Le Chameau are far nicer and will last longer.

hellsbells99 · 28/12/2020 14:04

Men’s short Dunlop wellies are great!

welliguessitwouldbenice · 28/12/2020 14:09

Aigles are the best purchase I’ve ever made. Wear them 3x per day walking my dog. I have sciatica and usually need a flat with a lift, like Nike Air type trainers so was very happy to discover and I can walk very comfortably in these wellies
