Will my 2.5yr old microbladed brows ever disappear?

They've faded to a crappy red/brown colour which is slightly outside my real shape - if they'll ever go away completely I'm 'happy' to leave them and keep using a pencil over the top, but if they're going to stay like this forever I might have to get them redone to get the colour back. Wish I'd never done them!!!!!

I misread and thought you had microbladed your toddler's eyebrows. I was this close to judging you so hard BlushGrin

MrsDeadlock · 26/12/2020 15:27

A lot depends on how they were done and the quality of the pigments.

The last who does mine specialises in removing old ones with a laser. Sometimes it only takes one or two sessions. Could that be an option? Or get them re-done?

I'm not Katie Price Grin

Also thought you’d microbladed your toddlers eyebrows! Sorry, no proper advice

Shinylikeglass · 26/12/2020 15:28

I was thinking how has a 2.5yo managed to microblade their own eyebrows? Grin

ShrimpSymphonyofSeasonalSongs · 26/12/2020 15:36

I had one session 5 years ago and hated the shape so I didn’t go back for the second half. It’s still there now like grey felt tip around my brows. It’s faded to grey but very visible Sad

octopusrus · 26/12/2020 15:50

Ohhh Shrimp that's what I was dreading to hear Sad will they ever go away??

I even had mine done twice, not had them topped up in 2 years now but the first time I had them done it was obviously a different ink and that faded to grey and pretty much has gone. The second time they’ve faded to reddish and it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere!

I’m going to have mine topped up as they’re not too big and I don’t have much in they way of eyebrows anyway. I feel bad for people that have massive ones though, if they aren’t going to go away.

Offredismysister · 26/12/2020 15:56

Mine faded to an orangey brown colour & then disappeared overnight. I’ve had them topped up twice as they fade after about 10 months. I think it depends what kind of skin you have & what skin products you use.

Onlycakesshouldhavetiers · 26/12/2020 15:59

Oil apparently helps bring the pigment out if that's what you'd prefer

octopusrus · 26/12/2020 16:10

Onlycakesshouldhavetiers I've not heard that before, any particular oil?

Yes I guess it also depends how deep they went etc. They looked great when they were just at the right level of brown but that was relatively short-lived in the grand scheme of things.

I’ve got mine done and I was advised to keep retinol products and exfoliators away from them, so might be worth using a glycolic acid or something on the skin to see if that fades it?

FWIW, the clinic that did mine only ‘filled in’ within the shape of my eyebrows to add density (mine were a bit more sparse on one side) rather than to change the shape of the brow - makes the results more natural looking and means if I let them fade I won’t be left with obvious marks outside of my natural eyebrows.

Same 😂
Onlycakesshouldhavetiers · 26/12/2020 17:53

Not sure OP. When I had mine done I was told not to use oil On my face as it would accelerate the breakdown of pigments so I'm guessing that's what to do for the reverse? Nothing specific mentioned about type just a general warning so id imaginr any would do

carlaCox · 26/12/2020 18:00

I've been thinking of getting mine done to fill in a gap that still exists from my manic nineties eyebrow plucking days. However, now reading your post I'm starting to question that decision. Would you recommend I do it? Or shall I just carry on pencilling the gap back in as I've done for the last few years? I'm scared I'll be left with a permanent tattoo'd mess that I'll never get rid of Confused

Onlycakesshouldhavetiers · 26/12/2020 20:15

I love mine. They made such a difference to my face. I was due to have them topped up in Jan but couldn't them lockdown came and I didn't get them done till this month. Mine faded evenly out so I wouldn't worry too much

giggly · 26/12/2020 20:29

I have alopecia and have had my eyebrows tattooed for the last 15 years. My tattooist advises against microblading for the reasons already mentioned.
My brows fade over time and I get top ups every 18 months and have always been delighted with the results.
Do your research for a good therapist.

octopusrus · 26/12/2020 21:08

carlaCox I think it very much depends on how they fade, which is so hard to know in advance! Maybe I'm paranoid but I keep noticing the red tinge on so many people now and I think it looks awful.
Having said that, my eyebrows were very gappy due to a couple of scars and sparse hair to start with, so maybe they're still better than they were?? It's hard to be objective! If you do go for it I would definitely advise you stay within your normal line and shape so you don't end up with the same problem I have...

If I just went back for another top-up that would also solve the iniital problem, but I'd rather leave them if they will disappear at some point. I have my doubts though!! Sad

Oh god, that made me laugh!
jumperweather · 26/12/2020 22:14

Hey.

So I have the same problem. Although I was stupid, I let my friend practice on me as her first client! So that was probably a mistake but I am easily persuaded.

I've had them touched up a couple of times but the colour is grey, I still have gaps where I have to pencil them in.

I'm not sure what to do with mine! I think they're better than they were, but just as much work now anyway!

Not sure if I'd recommend or not. Although I was very happy with them when they were first done :)

I had mine done nearly 10 years ago, just filling in rather than reshaping.

I was happy enough for a few years and then they faded to an orangey shade (from a medium dark brown) and although they have faded slightly over the years, it still annoys me and I have to cover over them. Didn’t want to keep on having touch ups as I wasn’t that keen.

During the last few years I’ve been using tretinoin but it seems to have v little if any impact :( If anyone has had laser removal (which I suspect is probably the only thing likely to work) I’d be interested to hear how effective it is.

octopusrus · 27/12/2020 21:32

10 years mrstwiddle oh wow I'm sorry you're still not feeling good about your brows Sad
Maybe I'll have to look into laser too, although I don't know if I can cope with the scabby bits over and over until it's done!!

I am not alone by the sounds of it. Faded to reddish brown and like you outside the shape of my own brow. It's like I have two remains for each brow. Have them just over two years. I hate them.

NowYouListenToMeFella · 27/12/2020 22:12

Ugh why can't we edit. Two rails not two remains.

NowYouListenToMeFella · 27/12/2020 22:13

It gets worse tails not rails. I blame my fat post Christmas binge eating fingers.
