Childhood aside, which decade do you think you age fastest in?

I swear everything has accelerated since I turned 40, five years ago.

Is this par for the course and does it just carry on at this pace?!

Yohoheaveho · 20/12/2020 13:51

The final decade is my guess🤔

Mustardbay · 20/12/2020 13:52

Whichever decade you have a toddler in

Floisme · 20/12/2020 14:02

The menopause decade for me. Babies and toddlers are ageing at the time but you've a good chance of bouncing back.

Longdistance · 20/12/2020 14:06

I’m 44. I’ve aged so fast. I used to get away with looking younger. I don’t now. The wrinkles have kicked in. No greys yet.

Spudlet · 20/12/2020 14:08

@Mustardbay Came here to say exactly the same Grin

Scarby9 · 20/12/2020 14:13

I have aged fastest in my 50s. Up to 50 I looked a good 10+ years younger than my actual age but I definitely now look my calendar age. It's not an obvious thing like my hair going white during the lockdown - my hair hasn't gone white at all but it has lost all its shine and light. My face has dropped and my eyes and skin look tired.

Scarby9 · 20/12/2020 14:15

@Floisme I've just read your comment and realised I could have said the same. Menopause at 49.

HerselfIndoors · 20/12/2020 14:23

I've found the same with 40-50. Like others I used to look younger than my age - now it's caught up with me! I don't really mind being more wrinkly and getting greay, but what does bother me more is my eyesight being so shit. Until about 43 it was perfect, since then I need new glasses every 2 years and I really notice it going downhill.

I know it's a tiny thing compared to others' pandemic suffering, but I get so frustrated by my glasses steaming up from the mask, having to take them off and then not being able to see, eg when trying to do supermarket shop. Can't see with them on, can't see with them off!

rawlikesushi · 20/12/2020 14:26

Whenever you hit menopause. Anything before that is a little dress rehearsal.

ohsuzannah · 20/12/2020 14:28

50-60 for me, that's when everything started going wrong, arthritis, cancer etc .

FlappingPancakes · 20/12/2020 14:31

Late 40s

I remember last year someone telling me how amazing it was that at 46 I had no wrinkles

Well I turned 47 and my face is now like crepe paper. It's like I went to bed and woke up 10 years older (think I'm v close to menopause as periods almost gone so that's probably it)

TinselToedElf · 20/12/2020 14:37

Between 50 and 60 here too. Looked younger than my age and then boom, everything changes.

Superstardjs · 20/12/2020 14:45

In my early 30s, I had a 3 yr window of birth of child with a disability, death of my mother, domestic abuse and separation. I think I aged 15 years in those 3 and it never improved. None of my friends have (thankfully!) experienced that level of stress and they are now, as pps have said, ageing due to menopause.

Wellthisismorethanabitgrim · 20/12/2020 14:49

About 45 for me. People always used to think I was way younger than my age. No longer sadly, I'm now looking very much 48. I think if I dropped a stone or so, and ate a bit better it would help a bit, but my face just seems to have dropped, my eyelids are crepey and I swear my nose is fatter than it used to be. Ain't no diet gonna help those! I'm definitely in peri as well, which I assume is contributing to the loss of my youth. I still feel really young though, my face doesn't match me any more 😭

Bunchup · 20/12/2020 14:51

50-60.

That's the decade when you just can't ignore it any longer.

goose1964 · 20/12/2020 14:53

I'd say 40s it's not that I aged outside but I aged inside, a congenital hip defect made itself known, my blood pressure shot through the roof. It made me feel older inside.I'm now 56 and I could still pass for late 40s early 50s

FlappingPancakes · 20/12/2020 14:57

Yes that's a good point about inner health. My cholesterol just shot up (apparently quite common at start of menopause) and my knees/hips have started aching!

Bargebill19 · 20/12/2020 15:00

Twenties. After that leant to live with and adapt quickly !

Snog · 20/12/2020 15:14

40s - although 80s is also often a turning point.

Londoncatshed · 20/12/2020 15:15

50-60. Much harder to hide it with make up, good hair etc.

DramaAlpaca · 20/12/2020 15:16

Generally in the 40s, depending on genetics and lifestyle.

whatnow41 · 20/12/2020 15:25

I'm 41. Since turning 40 I got my first grey hair and now sprout long black curly chin hairs too. It seems to be all down hill from now on.

bigbluebus · 20/12/2020 15:27

50's. A memory from 5 years ago popped up on my Facebook page this morning and my first thought was "bloody hell I've aged". I'm 56 now so 51 when the photo was taken. I've definitely had more aches and pains in the last few years too - although I'm pretty fit as I workout 3 times a week and do quite a lot of walking too - so I blame the menopause.

user1497787065 · 20/12/2020 15:59

Definitely 50s

lindyloo57 · 20/12/2020 16:05

I think it starts around fifty , when menopause kicks in, I look back at photos at forty feel I looked ok and felt the best, but now I turned 60 this year and don't I know it,
