Have noticed my drooping eye is getting worse (pic)

My right eye droops. Has always been slightly smaller (fine) and it’s an hereditary thing, my dad had it. His sisters had it. I’ve been doing Foreo Bear on it but... nothing. Am getting very conscious of it. Can anyone comment or suggest anything?

Thanks

Can you raise your eyebrow of your right eye at all?

princessTiasmum · 26/11/2020 21:14

Are you sure its your eye and not your forehead that has dropped?
Asking because your eyebrow on that side is lower than your other
I had exactly this, after having bells palsy
Had it corrected on the nhs last year, classed as forehead lift
Not a stitch in sight, but i had to be referred through my optician, as the drooping was affecting my peripheral vision, which to be honest i hadn't even noticed
My Dr referred me to the hospital,
It took about a year to get it done, but i'm so pleased,i can now wear eyeshadow again
See your optician,good luck

I don’t have a medical background so can’t comment there

However I have always been able to get “wider” eyelids (vertically) by massaging the area. I think it’s something to do with draining lymph nodes?

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 26/11/2020 21:18

I’m not sure. I just assume it’s my actual eye because one has always been smaller and I know I inherited it from my dad. In the mornings, I have to make a real effort to “open” my right eye. It does get better as the day goes on but, by the evening as I get tired, it starts to droop badly again.

I can raise my brow. I don’t think it’s muscular, as such. I think it “natural” plus ageing.

And I know that faces aren’t symmetrical but I just feel like one side of my face is collapsing. I tend to lie in my back at night because I have a spine problem and use pillows to prop me up, comfortably.

Have to say, I do like the Foreo Bear but it hasn’t lifted anything that I really wanted to lift.

I’m assuming the photo is a proper one and your right eye is on the left of the picture as I’m looking at it?

To me your right eye looks normal but your left eye looks like you are deliberately lifting the eyebrow, thus creating the difference. But I have no medical/optician training so there you are.

And I would like to add you are truly gorgeous, I hope you know that?

sofiaaaaaa · 26/11/2020 21:40

This might sound strange but use a finger to gently press into the crease of the affected eyelid. Hold it down for about 30 seconds and release, does it make a difference? If so, continue doing gentle massages and it may look slightly more even as time goes on. If not, you may need to look into surgery etc if you want to correct it.

Personally I don’t think it’s that noticeable, most people won’t pay any mind to your perceived flaws

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 26/11/2020 21:41

Ummm... thanks. Yes, just taken the photo, watching Billions and trying to wonder what it is I fancy about Damien Lewis 😊

No, not lifting my left eye in any way. The lower eye (right) is where it is (though it’s like VENICE...slowly sinking). The left is just as it is, with me taking a selfie. It wouldn’t be so bad if they’d both dropped or, if I could (in a non-invasive way) “lift” the right...hence the huge outlay on the Foreo Bear.

Do you wear contact lenses? I had a small op a few years ago as my eye drooped after wearing contacts too much

JMAngel1 · 26/11/2020 21:52

Would Botox be helpful to even it out - lift your right eye up by lifting your forehead? So just Botox in the right forehead? You would have to go to a good practitioner.

Pomegranatemolasses · 26/11/2020 21:52

Start with your GP and see if they will refer you for surgery. You are a very attractive woman, but if this is bothering you take steps to see what you can do.

Pomegranatemolasses · 26/11/2020 21:53

I think Botox might help a little, but a fairly minor surgical procedure would probably be the best 'fix'.

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 26/11/2020 21:54

Thanks @sofiaaaaaa. I’ll give it a go.

This photo is a few years ago. I can tell because I’ve got shorter hair. I remember it was easy to use make up to make one eye look bigger... more even. But now my eye is smaller and there’s the “drop”.

Am off to try the eye crease massage 😉

Hmmmm... I though Botox “relaxed” muscles. Wouldn’t it drop even more?

OP posts:
Pomegranatemolasses · 26/11/2020 21:58

No, Botox doesn't relax muscles! Quite the opposite.

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 26/11/2020 21:59

Ooops... forgot the photo

Looks as though you're raising the left of your forehead, due to the creasing?

dingsimg · 26/11/2020 21:59

I have the exact same! My mom has it too so I must get it from her. I've thought about Botox In the future but other than that I just embrace it for now.

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 26/11/2020 21:59

Oh. I may need to have a look at that. May be in the New Year when we come out of Tiers 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
HeraInTheHereAndNow · 26/11/2020 22:01

@80sColourfulChristmas... no. I think, it’s just my forehead wrinkles. The good thing about the right eye is that it’s so “relaxed’ there are fewer lines above it!

OP posts:
dingsimg · 26/11/2020 22:03

Botox can help to tighten the skin so I'm sure it would help but do a bit of research and have a look into it first as I'm not 100%. Mine doesn't bother me too much at the moment but can imagine it will in the future as it's been slowly getting worse as I get older

Othering · 26/11/2020 22:04

Eyelid tape for a temporary fix.

Yebanksandbraes · 26/11/2020 22:04

Botox doesn't relax muscles it temporarily paralyses them! You are definitely raising your left brow in the first photo. It may be habit as you weren't doing it intentionally. If you close and relax your eyes, push your fingers onto your eyebrows so you can't raise them and then open your eyes, do you still see asymmetry?

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 26/11/2020 22:04

Maybe a long fringe?

NekoShiro · 26/11/2020 22:10

I used to work with a lady who had the same things, I think she had some kind of injection once a year to correct it for a short while but I don't know what of though, sorry I know that's not a lot of help but you could try googling injections for dropping eye or go talk to a doctor or plastic surgeon?
