Alternative to North Face puffa jacket

If your teen wanted a North Face puffa, but no way am I spending £200/250 on her, is there a decent alternative in more like the £60 price range? It doesn't matter if it's not quite as warm, as long as it's warm enough for a London winter, has a hood, and looks similar to the North Face one. The best I can find is from Uniqlo, but it doesn't seem to have a hood

@Mcnotty Thank you! Yes, it actually makes me quite proud that she is not so entitled as to take the attitude that nothing but North Face will do.
Someone else suggested Superdry (assume that's what you meant :) ). I haven't checked the website yet but will do in a moment.

Well I’ve just got one from Booham I think their name is for me it’s lilac and I love it but then I’m not a teen.

Thedogshow · 20/11/2020 14:09

H&M have a couple of really nice ones similar to the North Face one for under £100

Rollergirl11 · 20/11/2020 14:11

Would Topshop be okay? They do some decent puffer jackets for around £65. My DS (12) has a North Face jacket but DD (14) is happy to wear coats from Topshop/Newlook/River Island, these are more affordable than branded sportswear. She is in adult sizes too.

Does it have to come down over her blazer?

Nonamesavail · 20/11/2020 14:20

I expect most shops will have a sale next week too. The topshop one was half price last year.

nevernotstruggling · 20/11/2020 14:26

I think I'd make a shortlist with your dd and bookmark the links then hold out for Black Friday and watch them halve in price. It's a buyers market right now.

Thisismynewname123 · 20/11/2020 14:29

@Nonamesavail and @Rollergirl11, yes, Top Shop would be acceptable and will go on the short list to show her! I think she'll tell me that the one you linked to is too long, but I'll see if there is another Top Shop one that she'll consider.

@Holothane do you mean Boohoo? She wouldn't wear lilac - only black - and I've been avoiding Boohoo recently with their exploitation news.

@nevernotstruggling and @Nonamesavail Yes, good idea. I will save them and wait for Black Friday

@Thisismynewname123 Yes I meant ’ Superdry’Grin.

Mcnotty · 20/11/2020 14:37

OP, have a look Here lots of different stylish types. All reasonably priced, you can get a great bargain especially in their Black Friday sales.

YeedaYodaTee · 20/11/2020 22:25

I got my DC a northface puffer jacket off eBay for about £35, it's lovely and he wears it every day.

jdjdnfjd · 20/11/2020 22:48

can come lmk if the ebay ones are good quality and can anyone send a link ?

HollyHocks13 · 20/11/2020 22:59

I bought my 14 year a north face puffer from Vinted for £40. It looks brand new and they're really pleased with it. I think at that age, it's all about the labels so an alternative will never cut it. Buying second hand is a good compromise.

HollyHocks13 · 20/11/2020 23:02

I've just had a look on Vinted now and there are loads on there..

BiscuitsUnited · 21/11/2020 01:25

There's some second hand ones on Shpock too.

bigTillyMint · 21/11/2020 07:39

My DS got a Norfie (found a deal) 7 years ago. He’s worn it every day (well not on hot days!) for 7 years and still looks good. It has been the best value item I have ever paid for Smile

Thisismynewname123 · 21/11/2020 09:11

Thanks all. I have put together a shortlist and will go through with dd this morning, including the North Face one from Ebay

Your DD sounds lovely and sensible.

I’d have a quick look at H&M as well (the Swedes know their coats and there’s a huge range) and as a pp said bookmark all the options ready to pounce on the best deal Black Friday in case the actual NF came down to your budget.

HmmSureJan · 21/11/2020 09:39

North Face last for years and there is a real difference in the quality. I'd size up so she's wearing it for two, maybe even three years. My 17 year old has been wearing the same Jack Wolfskin jacket for three years as he shot up at 14 and then things slowed down a bit. It still looks immaculate and I will sell it on eBay after he finally gets a new one for next winter. It's paid for itself over the years and so has my North Face quilted parka - that one was worn for six years - I paid £250 for it. I think those brands pay for themselves and are worth every penny. Sometimes much cheaper on Amazon and EBay if previous seasons too.

Gohackyourself · 21/11/2020 09:40

I doubt you will go for this from reading the post but I bought a olive parka from primark for £35 in the men’s section.
It’s the best warm, quilted inside jacket I’ve ever bought, beating the branded expensive ones I’ve had in the past! Has fur lined hood on outside too.

Gohackyourself · 21/11/2020 09:42

P.s sorry,
They do it in black too

Thisismynewname123 · 21/11/2020 10:47

Thanks for the help everyone. North Face one has been ordered from Ebay for £45. Fingers crossed on sizing. If we're happy with it, at that price, I'll order another one for her sister.

@jdjdnfjd I ordered this one. I can't vouch for it being genuine until it arrives though:
